  • I miss way back when MTV actually played music.

  • This is a speed version of the song!

  • I wonder if left-handed guitarists have their brains warped by watching righties as us righties do watching the southpaws play…

  • Im still glad shes gone

  • I like this album a lot! But Bill's production from the first two, beats this album's production.

  • "what's the sence of arguing when your all alone?"

  • "I just stood there whistling 'there goes the bride' as she walked out the door", was totally a dick move.

    Just sayin'

  • Lol he kinda messed up the lyrics a few times.

  • ...Back when MTV was awesome... I <3 TMBG!

  • Malcolm in the middle brought me here!!!THumbs up

  • Confidentially, I never told you of her charms. :-/

  • @hapujupa indeed bro it was ..

  • I just love TMBG , thanks guys

  • Being a huge fan for a long time, I never stopped to think of how strange songs like this might seem to people who had never heard of or seen them.

  • Truly, I consider Flood to be TMBG's magnum opus, I mean...so many memorable tracks.

  • @Artemisgoldfish ...i agree....flood is a masterpiece....and to help prove that i used to skip over this song......now i realize what a masterpiece this song is....and i considered it one even when i didnt much care for this song....these guys are brilliant

  • god.. theyre awesome :3

  • Oh em gee Linnel's haircut is awesome! And Flansy's expresion! Oh noes!

  • Goodness, John Flansburgh's expression when he messes up! Gah. <3

  • I saw these guy's at First avenue on November 3rd,they kicked ass!

  • i was luck enough to see they might be giants in my hometown in Dublin at around midnight in the Olympia. I was with my big bro. I was sixteen he was 22 and he was access to older girls and herb.

It was soo amazing a night i still remember the hallucinations..

I could shake my tiny fist but why eh??

  • @poshknacker sounds awesome bro

  • They Might Be Giants are the Best Band EVER, Hands Down.

  • im playing dis on mai piano right now

  • Why is the world in love again?

Why are we marching hand in hand?

Why are the ocean levels rising up?

    It's a brand new record for 1990.

They Might Be Giants brand new album: Flood.

  • you are also a fan

  • "Confidentially, I never called her a girl..."

    xD

  • Slow down there, John! xD

    Amazing.

  • i love john and john

they're one of the reasons i wish i were born earlier...

but they do still make music so that's awesome!

  • Happy Birthday to Linnell! 50 and still as amazing as ever! ^_^

  • Happy birthday Flans! One more year and you'll be 50!

  • don't remind me!

  • Fuck yeah, Telecaster.

  • Damn, is this the first TMBG song?

  • Cowtown is.

  • I love it when their names come up on screen...sure helps me tell John from John.

  • @singbraille Well you seen... John plays accordion while John plays guitar.

  • I just love this band.

  • Confidentially I never called her girl! Forgetting lyrics is truly the mark of genius.

  • This was an early version of the song, before the album even came out; the lyrics were probably not finalized.

  • I should have said truly is the mark of genius, because these men are my heros!

  • wtf, why is flanburg rushing it?

  • it seems like they're nervous. Probably hadn't done much tv at this point...

  • He does look pretty nervous...

  • doesn't seem like they ever got used to being on tv, but they wouldn't be they might be giants if they did. try saying that out loud and tell me it isn't fun.

  • There was prboably some time constraints. Oddly neither one looks like htey are keeping time, or tapping their feet even.

  • So adorable and wonderful.

  • Linnell's hair sure is epic

  • They were too damn cute.

    They still are =)

  • touches my heart

  • 1:05 = genius

  • I like this version a lot better than the album version. Why couldn't they have made a version like this?!??

Also, were they on MTV often then? Honestly, I can't picture them on MTV today XD

  • I can't picture any music act on MTV today. Do they even still play any music?

  • Gee never heard that one before (sarcasm).

Honestly, I think all there is is stuff about pimps and hoes, and maybe TRL, but I don't watch MTV, so I couldn't tell you for sure.

  • I think TRL was cancelled wasn't it? I mean what does the "M" in MTV actually stand for these days?

  • I think TRL is still on, but I honestly don't know---I don't watch MTV.

I'm guessing the M these days stands for "(Yo) Mama!!)"

  • I've never seen music on mtv. EVER.

  • So much TMBG love online. Where are all of you in my real life?

I think this is my favorite version of this song. It's great raw.

  • awesome video! it is cool to see the raw version. these guys are incredible.

  • I like the quick tempo. It's toe-tappin' good.

  • Favorite song from flood.Whole album is amazing of course,by the way is it their 1st?

  • no, they might be giants aka the pink album is. and then came lincoln and then flood. get then the earlier years if you want pink and lincoln in one convenient package.

  • ok thanks much!

  • @liambf and all of the demo tracks and the b-sides and wow i love that set. definitely get it! i'm talking to all of you

  • i loved this tape so much i wore out the casette... i remember it was a hot summer here in ny when this album came out

"it's a brand new record for 1990. they might be giants' brand new album.... flood"

  • Hah! Same here...wore out the cassette... And I used to even sing that silly intro...in addition to all of the songs ;P...

  • wheres the prerecorded backing track (drums)?

  • love this keep it up

  • I like this video, the boys look smart!

  • yeah this is pretty quick. but on Severe Tire Damage Live, They Got Lost was faster and was terrific

  • lol, "Let's open with our new single so we can get that piece of crap out of the way." That's what they were probably thinking. Ehhh I still love all their songs though. Flood's my favorite next to Factory Showroom.

  • Does the "solo" in the middle of the CD version remind anyone else of South Park?

  • Thank you for this video! There was another MTV postmodern video where TMBG played Whistling in the Dark, but Youtube took it down.

  • he he cool song,i like it when this guy sings

  • For some reason, hearing Linnell says "Oh Daddy" makes me laugh.

  • weird, it's a faster tempo than the CD version. It just feels rushed, which detracts from this performance.

  • i love tmbg john is my favorite =P

  • which one?

  • That's the joke, silly!

  • no, i think they meant john lennon

  • Or John Deacon.

  • please someone just make it possible for me to be at one of thier shows!!! gah... i love tmbg so

  • If you're on the east side of Canada, near the US border, they'll be in Portsmouth, NH on 29 March '08!

I waited a long time to see 'em, but they are doing a grand total of 2 shows in my area. I'm broke but smilin'.

  • I heart the Johns so much. Thank you for sharing this!

  • Confidentially... this song rocks! John and John are the coolest! Thanks for the ride.

  • That was cool. And John saying "Adrian Belew" at the end was an extra bonus!

  • I love this song so much.

  • Yeeeeees! Great song.

  • wow! cool!
