I say just get rid of Ryan Reynolds, in general. Every movie I have seen with him he always has the same bemused "I'm so awesome you bore me" look on his face. He tries to play it too cool and comes off as forced and like a douche. He's too busy walking around without a shirt on trying to look good. He's bland and can't pull off a good range of emotion. Who cares if he likes comics? Nick Cage LOVES comics, he was almost Superman and no matter how much he loved the character he is NOT Superman.

Especially considering we have sure fire box office hits like Avengers and Dark Knight coming out this summer, as well as reboots for Spidey and Supes, and you still have X-men movies bringing in some cash and who knows how many more Marvel & DC movies are in the works/being planned out.

@CAdvance Amen to those words... I just got through watching it, and honestly The Last Airbender, Dragon Ball Evolution, and Legend Of Chun-Li were worse. Hell at least this movie had a descent amount of action which Superman Returns greatly lacked. Plus I didn't mind the character development angle of Hal accepting his fear and overcoming it. I just wish they were more subtitle about it. "Show! Don't Tell!"

critics aren't interested in what the fans like. they're interested in what has depth, originality, emotional appeal, and so on. Fans are very often just interested in explosions and boobs, which critics can see as cheap tactics.

The Dark Knight has raised the bar so high for comic book movies, that no other ones since have been able to touch it. Personally I thought Watchmen was the only to come close after The Dark Knight was released. Everything else since then just hasn't been as good. Hopefully The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers will change that.
If those two are perfect, then Hollywood executives must think about quality and passion for making movies instead of treating movie making like a business.
I love the Green Lantern, but the movie was so awful and disappointing. I went inside the theatre on the night of the premier wearing my green lantern shirt, psyched up and when the opening credits rolled I just couldn't help but smile. When the movie continued on I hoped it would get better, but alas I was mistaken and when the credits rolled I thought to myself "That really...really can't be the green lantern movie...why?"

Just watched the movie recently... It was good, but there was a few issues I had. First off, the CGI was good in some areas, but others I half expected the USS Enterprise to show up from the 70s and communicate with the Guardians, and other times it felt like Roger Rabbit. There was also the Hal find the hidden governmental facility... How did he find it? how did he know about it? And I found the whole conquer fear thing wasn't fully explored when conquering Parallax. Coulda been better.
Critics are idiots. I seen the movie and it's exactly what a live action Green Lantern movie should be. People are complaining about the overuse of CGI in the movie but frankly with the space scenes and rings that can make anything out of pure energy what do you expect from a Green Lantern movie? They can't make it without the CGI and other movies that didn't need CGI but used it just as much get praised for it.
@CrankyStorming Looked good to me but I think after watching the first Hulk all other CGI looks amazing. I've seen low budget cartoon shows with better CGI than the first Hulk movie.
I actually didn't think Green Lantern was that bad. I'd give it maybe 3 out of 5. I really want them to do a sequel thought just because I want to see more DC characters on the big screen, but lets have Geoff Johns write the script for the next movie. If they just do a straight adaptation of the Sinestro Corps War storyline, I will completely forgive them for any mistakes made during the first movie. Hal Jordan was always my favorite superhero and I still think his comics are the best.
Oh well DC will always have batman outperforming all other comic book movies. Even batman and robin made money and it was slightly worse than the green lantern and also got terrible reviews. I know I'm looking forward to dark knight rises, watching michael caine and morgan freeman fighting evil again hellz yeah!
I actually enjoyed Green Lantern and wouldn't mind seeing a sequel, but I'd much rather see Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in the upcoming movie. He's a fan of the comics and really knows the character. It'd be great to see someone like Reynolds portray a character they're familiar with. Jackie Earle Haley had already read Watchmen when he was cast as Rorschach and he was fantastic.

HAL Jordan is the original HUMAN green lantern, the black one (John Stewart), became the human green lantern after Hal died....some people think that he is the original one because of his role in the justice league tv show.... The Dark Knight has raised the bar so high for comic book movies, that no other ones since have been able to touch it. Personally I thought Watchmen was the only to come close after The Dark Knight was released. Everything else since then just hasn't been as good. Hopefully The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers will change that.
If those two are perfect, then Hollywood executives must think about quality and passion for making movies instead of treating movie making like a business.

I love the Green Lantern, but the movie was so awful and disappointing. I went inside the theatre on the night of the premier wearing my green lantern shirt, psyched up and when the opening credits rolled I just couldn't help but smile. When the movie continued on I hoped it would get better, but alas I was mistaken and when the credits rolled I thought to myself "That really...really can't be the green lantern movie...why?"

Just watched the movie recently... It was good, but there was a few issues I had. First off, the CGI was good in some areas, but others I half expected the USS Enterprise to show up from the 70s and communicate with the Guardians, and other times it felt like Roger Rabbit. There was also the Hal find the hidden governmental facility... How did he find it? how did he know about it? And I found the whole conquer fear thing wasn't fully explored when conquering Parallax. Coulda been better.

Critics are idiots. I seen the movie and it's exactly what a live action Green Lantern movie should be. People are complaining about the overuse of CGI in the movie but frankly with the space scenes and rings that can make anything out of pure energy what do you expect from a Green Lantern movie? They can't make it without the CGI and other movies that didn't need CGI but used it just as much get praised for it.

I actually didn't think Green Lantern was that bad. I'd give it maybe 3 out of 5. I really want them to do a sequel thought just because I want to see more DC characters on the big screen, but lets have Geoff Johns write the script for the next movie. If they just do a straight adaptation of the Sinestro Corps War storyline, I will completely forgive them for any mistakes made during the first movie. Hal Jordan was always my favorite superhero and I still think his comics are the best.

Oh well DC will always have batman outperforming all other comic book movies. Even batman and robin made money and it was slightly worse than the green lantern and also got terrible reviews. I know I'm looking forward to dark knight rises, watching michael caine and morgan freeman fighting evil again hellz yeah!

I actually enjoyed Green Lantern and wouldn't mind seeing a sequel, but I'd much rather see Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in the upcoming movie. He's a fan of the comics and really knows the character. It'd be great to see someone like Reynolds portray a character they're familiar with. Jackie Earle Haley had already read Watchmen when he was cast as Rorschach and he was fantastic.
