I enjoyed this very much, im 16 and i just started working on this piece last week. I think she played it at very good speed, it wasnt too fast, or too slow. It sounded like bumblebees flying to me. Thank you for posting this. Made my day = )
Everyone who is even able to play this deserves RESPECT you basterds, of course she doesnt compare to evgeny kissin or rachmaninov, but at least she would kick those peoples ass who say she cant play
and its not too fast lol, i didnt know theres so many experts here on youtube
@Ragtime44Films That's just the way I like it to be played...you all are making philosophy about why I'm playing it so fast and why shouldn't it be so fast....I have fingers that can play fast and I like it....that's it!
I love the way you performed this piece. I'm learning to play it. I notice that you use the pedal off and on. Which parts do you pedal? Do you use the soft pedal as well?
air pressure & room temperature could have something to do with it.
More likely it will be due to the encoding of the video or the original tape which it came from - the piano is in tune with itself - if the overall pitch seems off then it will be a technical fault.
If you take two different cd players and play the same CD with them you will usually find that they flange out of sync after a while - this will of course also effect the pitch of each playback as the speed is not 100% accurate
The only thing I might suggest is check out Evgeny Kissin for his use of dynamics...other than that...if you come to Vancouver, BC...I'll pay to watch you.
Not much wrong with this at all. A bit different than say Evgeny Kissin or Yuja Wang. I think some of you should try to play it. I'm impressed. I admire all concert pianists. The average person doesn't have a clue, how much training and dedication it takes to play this well.
Very good, possibly one of the best performances of this piece I've heard. Quiet body; no excess motion to waste energy.
I would actually suggest taking it a little slower. Not a lot, mind you - just a few ticks. Listen to Rachmaninov's piano roll version to hear what I mean - there's a tempo between too fast and too slow, where the notes have a stunning clarity to them. The issue is that it's just a bit too slow to play purely on muscle memory. It takes tremendous technique to accomplish.
On that note, though, I will point out that I have learned this piece, and since learning it, I have learned technical aspects of piano playing that I didn't know then, and have yet to work them into my performance of the piece. So for all worthwhile intents and purposes, your version is far superior to mine. So I'm not talking down to you, I'm talking theoretically - things I would say to myself, had I given your performance.
Thank you very much for your advices, I think I'll deeply meditate upon what you wrote about my performance. Talking about myself as a pianist, I must tell you that I always had to "battle" against my fingers to teach them not to play "that" fast (just the opposite of the usual way pianists practise..). Anyway I appreciated very much the way you could explain what you meant.
The tempo written by Rach is "Presto" (it means more than Allegro, I'm italian I can tell you) and it should sound like an insect flight. As far as the pianist can do it clear, where this limit starts from?
actually my man rocky played it between 144-152 bpm. This kinda sounds like an insect flying in the rain..eh but mb i'm just jealous bc i'm just learning flight and can't play that fast yet :p
Nonostante le donne sacrificano sempre molto di più degli uomini la propria carriera per amore della famiglia, le tue esecuzioni sono sempre entusiasmanti!
@plerimest maybe for some reasons today..those musical instruments made these days are far more inferior than those made in the golden era of piano.i think thats 90's
I play this piece as well and there are definetly supposed to be swells in volume to match the effect of a bee flying by, however while I can play it this fast I feel that this song loses some of it density at such a fast speed and I usually keep it a little slower to give the ear a chance to catch up. Just my preference, but great job.
Most of the times, when women are forced to choose between career and love for their children, they choose the 2nd one....most of the times men would choose the 1st one.
That's the reason why most of the known musicians are men.
I am not trying to discriminate. But most of the musicians became famous at a very young age(before getting married). This may be true in the modern world though.I not sure if this is you in these videos. But this pianist is very talented..
I didn't say you discriminated, I just could realize in my life that women more often than men renounce career for love. It's my own experience and opinion.
You could play a prelude i composed, i think it would sound beautiful in your hands...Guau that would be really something out of this world for me!!!...
Even this sounds like a prokofiev version the way she phrases. Wich might be the result of paola playing mainly prokofiev pieces. :P Dunno but she plays everything awesome imho!
it will sound strange to you but the second Sonata by Prokofieff is the only piece I play by that composer, anyway thank you for your comment, it's always very useful.
Haha, that's very odd and quite strange to hear indeed. I actually thought you had some 3-4 of his sonatas under your fingers already since you phrase that way. Found many similarities in these and prokofievs recordings. Might be coloured by the fact that I like both of yours intensive energetic way to phrase.
Excellent !!!
