  • Silent Hill's music is all about context. Despite seeming hellish and creepy in-game, these songs are actually REDICULOUSLY WELL COMPOSED, AMBIENT, AND CALMING, if you listen to them closely. It's all about placement and context.

  • This song actually can calm me down when I'm mad...never figured a song from a soundtrack from a videogame could do that...but it is Silent Hill I suppose lol

  • this is so gangsta

  • This soundtrack and the game maybe over 10 years old, but they were WAY AHEAD of their time.

  • This is my favorite OST. The fact that it has a stagnant and very retro feeling, and it sure calms me down LOL

  • this song reminds me of NIN's closer

  • Reading the comments I think that there should be an actually Silent Hill created. Not like those crappy theme parks but like the actual place like the game where there is fog and those old siren speakers to play the OST in static while you walk around, even monsters you could kill (though they would have to be fake)..... but I can only dream. -sigh- /sorry, for bad my bad English/ but wouldn't this be neat?

  • @DrFUNbox: Theme parks like that will never exist though

    What nationality btw

  • @AGuyAndAGun live in Amerika. Awkward with English. :/

  • @DrFUNbox BRILLIANT idea!!! <3

  • @DrFUNbox hey silent hill is based off a real town called centralia. search it up

  • 2:37 sounds like silent hill shattered memories : devil's laughterr

    '0'

  • Bow down in position Against the polished steel This is something different You'll like the way this feels No time for asking questions No time for wondering We've had enough of you now You've heard everything You want to play a new game You put on this blindfold You do what we tell you You do as you're told Used to be the leader Now comes the time to serve Maybe we'll show some mercy Maybe you'll get what you deserve
  • @SuperhumanChichi this song is not in the game. a very small snippet of it is on the Maria subscenario Ending

  • usually i hate songs like this but im just so into this song :P

  • man i heard this song in the movie 1408 in the ending. thats so weird

  • Man, this song is sexy!

  • @OmegaOwA similar beat to nine inch nails - closer

  • I'm in love lol!

  • when does this play in the game?

  • I like listening to this while walking around on a cold, misty winter day.

  • *sigh*I could see it right now....P Head......beatboxing :DD

  • Silent hill 2 had the best soundtrack imo.

  • @FlyAwayGrenade please stop making me think about PH being in places I would go. he's scary enough, I don't need to worry about actually meeting him.

  • @proffesorcat Pyramid head lives inside your closet boooooo...

  • @Wc3Addict20 that's good, because I don't actually have a closet.

  • @Wc3Addict20 I WISH PYRAMID HEAD LIVED IN MY CLOSET!

  • @Flamester013 Seriously!? 0_0

  • @Wc3Addict20

    HOLY CRAP! O_O

  • @templar19 lol "girating." It's spelled gYrating.

  • now I know akira isn't original as much as he used to be toward the end of the song you can hear the beat from the song angels scream in the shattered memories sound track.

  • this one makes me feel something like looking for somebody or something in a forest full of fog!!

  • Also, someone tell me why the fuck there were 2 Pyramid Heads? That kinda ruined the whole P-head is the scariest creation in anything ever made. There should of just been one

  • @BadAcidVacation yeah i totally agree. makes him seem less special with 2 of them. he scared the crap outta me that guy. he had a fricking pyramid on his head!wtf?

  • @BadAcidVacation

I think it was because both represented the punishment for one sin; the other for the murder of Mary, the other for Eddie's.

In my opinion, both were equally creepy.

  • @BadAcidVacation I think I can answer that quite fully. As everyone knows, PH was created as a way for James to punish himself for Mary's death. There are 2 at the end, representing Old (brown) and New (red) Blood. James has murdered two people by this time, like Aivottaja said, Mary and Eddie. The first PH was red because Mary's death was still "fresh". It turned brown by the time James killed Eddie which then created a new Red PH. He had to forgive himself for both by facing both PHs.

  • @NocturnalPyro Then what was with that one point in the game where it was like a labyrinth with PH's around every corner? I never understood that but it scared the shit outta me.

  • @giga0524 That's where he lives. I know, I'm a dork, I read up on this a bit too. But that's why he never chases you in the Labyrinth. He will attack if you get too close but he won't chase you because he knows James still needs to remember what he did. The first fight with PH he attacked because James pissed him off but the siren reminded him to move along and let James do his thing. It was never intended that there be a second PH because James killed someone else, not according to plan.

  • @NocturnalPyro He lives....in a dungeon? That's kinda funny/strange. Makes sense that it by a prison tough.

  • @giga0524 Well it's really just a part of James' Silent Hill, the Labyrinth. You get there through the prison but it doesn't quite exist...

  • @NocturnalPyro I get it now. Pyramid Head is the symbol for all of James' guilt. Now that he killed a new human being, another one forms. Eddie also seems like even though he is a real person, he resembles James' sins, murder, wrath etc.

Also, just out of curiosity when does this song played? I thought it was the boat ride but I just played that and its almost completely silent.

  • @BadAcidVacation Exactly. And I'm not too sure of when this plays. It might be an end theme but I don't remember.

  • @NocturnalPyro On the Greatest Hits version of SH2, there's an alternate scenario starring everybody's favorite mystery girl, Maria. She wanders thru a dusty old mansion doing odd jobs for an incorporeal ghost, then she wanders outside. Maria, slightly depressed, pulls out her Revolver and points it at her head... then she chucks it into the fog, then walks away, whispering "James...". THAT'S when this song plays.

  • @rainethesage I haven't played the Born from a Wish scenario in ages because I hate Maria so much XP. But now that you mention it I do remember this song.

  • @rainethesage

Thanks! This explains why I don't recall hearing this song when I played my non-GH version of SH2. Because seriously, there's just no way I could forget this if I heard it when I played the game.

  • @DB5tothehive Yep. Terror in the Depths of the Fog is a Fucking Amazing Song.

Mmm, i love the sound of epic in the midnight, don't you?

  • @BadAcidVacation During the final scene of the "Born From A Wish" segment, where Maria's in the alleyway.

  • Does REALLY of remind me of Nine Inch Nails especially 2:30 on

Trent Rexnor needs to team up with Akira and work on a soundtrack fro

Silent Hill 6: The Revenge of Pyramid Head (We can only hope!)

  • When does this play in the game?

  • Why are you people arguing about NIN? This is a song by Akira Yamaoka, it is utterly seperate from NIN and should not be compared with it. However, that does not mean that NIN is any better or worse than Akira's works. Personally, I like NIN as well as the Silent Hill soundtrack, but that doesn't mean that either of them are any good. Quality is an utterly relative concept. Just listen to what ever you want to and if you don't like it, listen to something that you do like.

  • My dad insulted Akira by saying this is horrible!!!!

  • I done a random quiz and apparently I'm this song XD

  • I'm with Gerudo. NIN sucks dick...

  • the whole OST is quite a trip!

  • Sounds very NINish.

  • Nin.. what?

  • The band Nine Inch Nails

  • @shinyzombie Fuck NIN, Forever to Hell.

  • @gerudobombshell Never said I like Nine Inch Nails. I was just telling Poetabrasileiro what NIN stood for.

  • Anyone who thinks this sounds like NIN is probably either a NIN fan or just stacks anything industrial with it. Or both. It sounds nothing like it.

Also, I agree with the poster above. Fuck NIN.

  • I agree with that to some extent. I said NIN mainly because it reminded me of they're earlier stuff. Like the FDTS track "A Violet Fluid" I should have said it sounded in the vein of Coil or early Throbbing Gristle.

  • @xxashyy FDTS has got Coil involvement too, hasn't it?

  • what part is this thing played O:O

  • @KxK96

When you play the Sub-Scenario : Born From a Wish, it's the ending song.

  • dont lie , i have that sub scenario version and the song for the ending is Love Psalm <.<

  • @KxK96 When Maria's walking off into the fog, the middle part from 0:48 - 1:50 plays. THEN Love Psalm plays at the credits

  • its isnt.

  • To me it does.

  • I think this song is totally awesome, and I do agree, it sounds very much like "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. Very cool.

  • Yeah...i just wikipedia'd it :C Closer was long before SH2....but i love this song anyway....C:

  • I totally agree with you,Apple. Silent Hill isn't really scary...it's sometimes even peaceful...and some songs are almost making me fall into somekind of dream.

  • @Virgil605 : I listened to both...there are many differences from bass to instruments used.....anyway i guess akira's song was WAY older than these's guys.,,,since the game is pretty old too....anyway....love this song and many others :D SH-Rules!

  • @MD33z Closer came out in 1994, this probably didn't come out until 2001

  • Sounds like I'm taking a walk through a Nightmare. Very nice

  • pretty cool

  • This song sounds almost exactly like Closer from Nine Inch Nails. Listen to them both and you'll see what I mean.

  • Not too much of a resemblance. Bear in mind, "Closer" uses a modified version of the bass drum in Iggy Pop's "Nightclubbing". I'm a huge NIN fan, by the way.

  • This song plays at the end of "Born From A Wish" ending in Silent Hill 2 when Maria walks towards Rosewater Park and says "James".

  • woooow....ty VERY much:)

  • hmmm i will seriously never get tired of this song <3

  • in what stage or ending does this play..in silent hill 2?...please let me know..:)

  • Where does this play?

I don't remember it too much

  • reznor should play some silent hill games

  • some industrial flavor around it. Nine Inch Nails? Nah. Its Akira. =)

  • this music paints a sh2 ending of my own, like at the part at 55 seconds james wakes up all bruised and beat up from the two last boss fights lying on the bed with mary's picture in his hand written on it "i'll always be with you james". james smiles as he staggers to get up and walk out of the room and out of the hotel and limps back to his car and thinks about his past and no longer blames himself

(this is a brief version of it and plus ill fix it up too)

  • what happens to laura in your ending?...XD

  • yeah laura had a strange ending didnt she?

  • i like this song cuz it has an RnB and electro but horrific sounds 2 it :3

  • It's always pleasant to walk in the streets of New York City at night, and listen to this music and know that none of us would ever survive if there was a "Silent Hill" realm... however I'm sure that there are some of us on this site listening to Silent Hill music that have experienced something truly dark and terrifying that we hold deep inside us....

  • Hm, I would be curious enough to visit that "Silent Hill realm" of NYC

  • it would be so scary!

  • soho...noho...fulton street...china town..theres alot of places to choose from...go especially at night...XD

  • i would try to survive, find a shotgun or two, ammo, and maybe PHs great knife

  • Cool!!! I do the same thing! At 4 AM every week I wake up and walk in the streets of NYC listening to this music!

  • where at ...in manhattan?...soho?..

  • Brooklyn.

  • hahaha...i live in the bronx..:)

  • Especially those of us who have disorders like Depression. I always felt some kind of weird attachment to the Silent Hill games, like it was an outlet for my affliction.

  • yeah totaly, there is something special about SH1-4 with me, mostly the second game. what a masterpiece.

  • I agree. I have this weird, almost nostalgic feeling when I think of Silent Hill. Maybe it's because Silent Hill is better than therapy - you face your problems and you either overcome them or you die. It's a lot more straightforward than using words.

  • @Applesbleed Damn... now that I think about it... you are so right.

  • @Applesbleed

if only everyone had their own little silent hill then the world would be a more sane place

    i think

  • @GamerDog51 I'd really love to go to Silent Hill. Get some of my guilt out, face my pain, etc.

  • @GamerDog51 Well, at least Silent Hill makes more sense than this world.

  • @Applesbleed Kinda extreme, but hell...it makes sense

  • @Applesbleed That's basically how I felt when I finished silent hill 2. It's a cleansing of sorts.

  • I feel exactly the same way.

  • I don't know about NONE of us, I'm sure there are a lot of people willing to face their fears to get out. :)

  • oh and i forgot that it also has a rock-ish sound into it, Akira is a god!!! =D

  • @whoismyspaceinmypant I once suffered from Insomnia, seen some pretty fucked up shit.

  • @ArkusVI What did you see in your insomnia? I rember mine clearly.

  • @infinitideagames You could say i didnt see anything but time felt slower and the things i saw like a glass of water seemed far away while in truth werent not to mention the fact that alout of my body movement felt slowed down.

  • @ArkusVI I left you a messege detailing mine. Couldn't fit it into a reply comment.

  • My dark secret is that I'm secretly a cat which has just learned to stand on its hind legs and type, but don't tell anyone or I'll be in for the rollicking of a lifetime! :<

  • @whoismyspaceinmypant I woke up in the middle of the night once and the power was out, there was a very heavy tule fog. The house felt like a tomb so I went out driving, visibility was maybe 15 feet, zero light, had to go real slow. I had disjointed conversations with other drivers going the other way and people on the sidewalk. I ended up at a closed grocery store but the lights were all on, a guy just in the door told me to go away and we stared at each other for what felt like half an hour.

  • @whoismyspaceinmypant ......lol. ok dude.

  • @TheHerbSaint Make your own opinions, everyone has a right of making it. But keep certain things to yourself, after all somethings are better left unsaid. Including ignorant sarcasm. Wouldn't you agree?

  • @whoismyspaceinmypant uhhh... lololol

  • @whoismyspaceinmypant

I'd survive if Earth was taken over by the "Otherworld". Just need a steel pipe.

  • It's in the Born from a Wish ending, ain't it?

  • I just love the ending of this song. Very dark.

  • I dont remeber hearing this song, but its rather intresting.

  • Awesome music.

The ending to the sub scenario was really sad...

  • Notice how the music from SH:SM in the Nightmare sequence is a remix of the second half of this song.

    Anyone else hear that?

  • Do you mind posting a link to it? I can't find it.

  • I totally love this song .!!

  • Yeah mine too thanks for adding this track man

  • One of my favorites!

  • Silent Hill 2 has the best music

  • I agree. ^_^

  • in what part of the game appear this song

  • This song actually plays in the Greatest Hits sub-scenario with Maria. It plays at the end of the scenario when Maria is walking down the alleyway.

  • :O This really weridly reminds me of Rayman 3, when you fight the big thing that tries to stomp you D:

  • this would be a cool song to beatbox lol i love the Sh2 album
