Few things Torley didnt mention:

Making static positions:

you can set the frame counter to 2 and then you will have a single frame to edit the pose in.

Symmetric selecting/positioning/rotating­:

click a limb, hold shift, and click the limb again, it should turn yellow, as well as the same limb on the other side of the body (handy in case you want to make a sitting animation or move hands at the same time)

How do you make it longer then 1 second?

@RaodaLiynNoet Well you can see it's 30 FPS, that's 30 frames shown every second of time, and you can see there are only 30 frames there. So if you increase the amount of frames to twice as many as the FPS number, then you make the animation sequence 2 seconds long, or reduce the FPS to something like 15 would double the animation length too. Though that second way of doing it would result in a more jerky appearance in the animation.

Yeah, you can. You don't need to have a premium account to upload anything. Premium accounts just give you weekly linden and allow you to own land. Other than that you can upload whatever you want, textures, sounds, sculptures, etc.

Awesome video and information, Torley. Thank you! One of the many things I really like about your tutorials is your references to useful applications like Qavimator. I could always just do a search for these programs, but I feel a little safer about using them when you recommend them. I know you can't guarantee that they're safe and completely legit, but I do feel a little safer about programs you've used and suggested.

The basic idea of a file-exstension is that we know what it does.Bhv in qanimator and secondlife does something else then what you expect from a bhv file.

Maybe its a great idea to make a new file-extension and name it .Sla(.secondlife animationfile) in both qanimator and secondlife.

i saved the animation to .bvh and I'm positive that i saved it but when i opened up the "upload animation" on second life my animation wasn't there i looked everywhere in the folders and its not there anyone who can help me please reply to this comment :(

Ok - I had this problem too. Just add .bvh at the end. It works. :D Don't mess with the file type.

As far as I know, a pose is just a static animation. Presumably looped, with priority 4.

Pose is a 2 frame animation. The first frame should not be changed = the animation you see when you start the program. The pose you want to have is the 2nd frame. Upload it, make sure it's looped, and priority 4 will just override most of the other poses. If you want to keep the typing animation, you need to make it 3 (i think) or 2.

I'm a little confused by your question, but the hips are the "center" of the avatar in Avimator. Just move the hips up or back or whatever to offset the animation in the animation itself. If you've already got the animation in world, you can offset it using coordinates in the poseball script.

aw i got all excited and downloaded qavimator for the mac, but it looks like it's not a complete port over - no separate time lines for parts; or visible key frames; or (most importantly) NO *.BVH OUTPUT! waa! rubbish! etc.

You can save a bvh file with Qavimator. You just have to manually type the file extension. This always trips people up. Just add it yourself and it will work.
