He is making a movie, not a 15 minute game review. It takes a lot of money and effort to make a movie. You have to pay many expenses, and you have to use high tech cameras cause it's a fucking movie, you need the highest quality. Besides, he doesn't want to be invested on, because he can't keep his creative rights. So he needs "donations" not begging to help make the movie. Its not as simple as you think.
I really do hope that James will make it as a major movie director. I do see great potential in him, especially within the horror & comedy genres. And if he ever does get the time, I would like to see him reboot the Resident Evil movie series the way it should be, unlike Paul Anderson, who is now the new Uwe Boll!
Some of the best acting was seen in the "Ninja Gaiden" and the "Wizard of Oz" episodes. If you could incorporate some of those characters and that type of acting / dialogue, you guys will be up for academy awards!

It's not a matter of James cancelling it, it's a matter of if he can get it in theaters(and that's a big IF) It costs alot of money to get a movie into theaters, and he's using most of his money for equipment, what about advertising? there's just so much James hasn't seemed to have considered. It looks like he's in way over his head.
@lukestarkiller441 Actually, he has conceded that a theatrical release is hard to achieve (he does it in this very video, saying it's the best case scenario). He's only hoping for it. I don't know the workings of his mind, but it's more about the product than the gross, I think. It's a movie for his fans, and I'm sure the majority of them will watch it. I doubt he would mind making money off of it, 'course.
But again, they have a bigger budget now than their goal was, and it's increasing daily.
...Meaning they might get a lot of money "left over" for marketing. But this is assuming he hasn't thought of it in the first place just because he hasn't discussed it, which is a big assumption. But yeah, he IS debuting with this, so there might indeed be a lot he's overlooking. But on the other hand, he's not working alone on this. I'm sure it will all be a bit much for him, but that's not to say it cannot be done.
@SiGhast: James needs to know what he's going to do though. He needs to decide what he wants to do with the movie if he's this into already. His best chance IMO, is if he went the Fred route and got a cable show to pick up his movie, he would have made a decent gross and he wouldn't need money for equipment and Ad expenses.
Though he has alot of fans, I don't think they would be enough for a theatrical release(National or local). What's the point of if James isn't going to make a profit?
@lukestarkiller441 None of his short films have paid his bills as far as I know, and yet he continued to make them. I think the love for the craft is enough. But even if he does not make much money off of this, he might end up having made a name for himself, and that would help him in the future.
I'm sure he wants money, money that could directly fund his next project, but I'm also somewhat sure that it comes second. Making something he's proud over, and something his fans love, comes first.

He is making a movie, not a 15 minute game review. It takes a lot of money and effort to make a movie. You have to pay many expenses, and you have to use high tech cameras cause it's a fucking movie, you need the highest quality. Besides, he doesn't want to be invested on, because he can't keep his creative rights. So he needs "donations" not begging to help make the movie. Its not as simple as you think.

I really do hope that James will make it as a major movie director. I do see great potential in him, especially within the horror & comedy genres. And if he ever does get the time, I would like to see him reboot the Resident Evil movie series the way it should be, unlike Paul Anderson, who is now the new Uwe Boll!

Some of the best acting was seen in the "Ninja Gaiden" and the "Wizard of Oz" episodes. If you could incorporate some of those characters and that type of acting / dialogue, you guys will be up for academy awards!

@BurndIce Look up "AVGN indie go go" on google. it has a number of how many people have donated to this film. And actually the biggest producers of 35mm film cameras has stopped producing them do to the advancement in digital video. 35 mm cameras are becoming out dated. I just backed up everything I said...Now i will still call you a dumbass.

He shouldn't be asking for money in the first place, if he wants to make a movie, he should have his financing problems taken care of. @SiGhast: In a way this does classify as scamming. and his fans aren't really "paying for what they want" because there's no guarantee that the movie will even get made. Like I mentioned James probably doesn't have a plan for the donations if his movie doesn't end up happening.
All I'm saying is that (hopefully) his fans realize that they're more or less throwing their money away.

@lukestarkiller441 Your skepticism doesn't mean it has gone to waste. It seems more likely that it will be made than not. It's been planned for years and they have now entered preproduction. And well, with all of this money -- which has surpassed their initial goal -- there's no excuse to not go through with it. Hell, if he did cancel it, that would probably be the end of his fame, and he might end up unable to reach his damn life goal.

@SiGhast: It's one thing if James was planning on a small TV or video release. But it's incredibly difficult to get a movie released in theaters. It's not a matter of James cancelling it, it's a matter of if he can get it in theaters(and that's a big IF) It costs alot of money to get a movie into theaters, and he's using most of his money for equipment, what about advertising? there's just so much James hasn't seemed to have considered. It looks like he's in way over his head.

@lukestarkiller441 Actually, he has conceded that a theatrical release is hard to achieve (he does it in this very video, saying it's the best case scenario). He's only hoping for it. I don't know the workings of his mind, but it's more about the product than the gross, I think. It's a movie for his fans, and I'm sure the majority of them will watch it. I doubt he would mind making money off of it, 'course.
But again, they have a bigger budget now than their goal was, and it's increasing daily.

...Meaning they might get a lot of money "left over" for marketing. But this is assuming he hasn't thought of it in the first place just because he hasn't discussed it, which is a big assumption. But yeah, he IS debuting with this, so there might indeed be a lot he's overlooking. But on the other hand, he's not working alone on this. I'm sure it will all be a bit much for him, but that's not to say it cannot be done.

@SiGhast: James needs to know what he's going to do though. He needs to decide what he wants to do with the movie if he's this into already. His best chance IMO, is if he went the Fred route and got a cable show to pick up his movie, he would have made a decent gross and he wouldn't need money for equipment and Ad expenses.
Though he has alot of fans, I don't think they would be enough for a theatrical release(National or local). What's the point of if James isn't going to make a profit?

@lukestarkiller441 None of his short films have paid his bills as far as I know, and yet he continued to make them. I think the love for the craft is enough. But even if he does not make much money off of this, he might end up having made a name for himself, and that would help him in the future.
I'm sure he wants money, money that could directly fund his next project, but I'm also somewhat sure that it comes second. Making something he's proud over, and something his fans love, comes first.
