  • love that bass and piano! sounds a little like a gibson EB-4

  • <3 This song!!

  • Velvet Goldmine was to be on side 2 of 'Ziggy Stardust' as late as December '71 until Bowie decided it was "a lovely tune but probably too provocative". It was then shelved until late 1975 when it appeared on the Space Oddity Ep.

Probably 1 of his most catchy tunes, love it to bits

  • I think they put it on the Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, but I won't swear to it. As I'm thinking about it now, I think that's wrong. But it's on the CD that has Lady Stardust on it whichever one that is, I can't remember. Grrr. I'm getting rusty.lol. I'll have to check it out. I have the album, I should know and now I'm frustrated.lol. But I love this song. I'd be his panther princess any day.

  • That's Rod Stewart at the beginning, no doubt about it. Not Ronson. Xx

  • this song is awesome , first time hearing it and im already addicted to it . can i find this song on any album ?

  • It's on a special, two disc version of Ziggy Stardust (an anniversary thing, I think) - this song is on the bonus disc, along with a few awesome alternate, Arnold Corns versions of some other songs, (Arnold Corns is an early Bowie project, check it out!).

  • thanx for the info i appreciate it !

  • @holymanson09 It's also on the reissue of "Ziggy Stardust" that came out in 1990. That's the one I have and you might find it second hand...

There's something weird in the Bowie catalogue : the albums were re-issued in 1990 WITH bonus tracks. And then re-remastered in 1999 WITHOUT bonus tracks. lol. And now some of the older albums are re-issued with an extra CD full of bonus tracks. :)

  • I love this song! <3

  • Is that Rod Stewart in the first pic?

  • Isn't he Mick Ronson?

  • YES it is The great Rod Stewart. Mick Ronson, who was one of the Spiders from Mars, was much more handsome and more gifted in song writing and music-2 brilliant albums-Original.

    R.I.P.-MICK RONSON

  • This is the most fabulous song !!!!

  • Released 1975

  • I fall in love in this song!!

  • is it just me or does everyone think hes hott no matter what his hair/cloths/makeup ensamble is in the particular picture?

  • well it's also like his legacy you know.

  • true it works for him i think if any other artist tried it it would be verry wierd (in a bad way) ugly and ruin their reputaition but bowie made it work

  • Everyone thinks he is hot no matter how he looks like.

  • David, .... You Stroke me like the rain !!!!

  • I love this song and I love the movie to...

  • I Never saw the movie.

  • It wasn't about Bowie's life, it was just about a fictional rock star. He actually sued the moviemakers because it used some of his music, and while he did like it, he said it felt more lke the 80s then 70s.

  • ahh.. everybody said different when I asked...

  • Well it's not.

  • thats fucked up..
