Actually, it is the basis for every other shooter ever. In fact, before they were referred to as FPS's they were called "Doom Clones". There were FPS's before Doom, even other id titles, but none of them had multiplayer or the modular file resources that made an industry out of these games.

i had my fair share of deaths. but i did but i had a hell of a time beating "gotcha!". i beat it by getting behind the cyberdemon and letting the mastermind try to shoot me but it kept hitting the cyberdemon which caused them to fight then the mastermind was killed with 1 shot from bfg. the rest of the level was kinda easy.

I think most people tend to assign video game music to its own genre. The titles are there to let people know these are performances using real instruments, rather than just the original music.

I think what he means is, that the song in Doom is a cover of Black Sabbath - After all (the death).

So apart from being used in a videogame, the song (like all of Black Sabbath's music) is metal in the first place.

So they basically covered Black Sabbath, by covering a cover of Black Sabbath :)

if you listen to the original you would notice the taken part is only the beginning of the song actually..

and I personally haven't seen any credit to any band

the maker of the music from ID is a lawyer, I assume he took some parts, modified them so the bands wouldn't claim rights (or ID could have just paid them, I don't know)
