  • No small amount of media manipulation in THIS production, eh?

  • It's called Testosterone. It's called deciding whether you want to be the effect of it or not.

  • lol its funny because most poeple here prolly clicked the video because of the thumbnail, and proves the entire point of this video.. haha love it

  • video started off well.. then went downhill with all the focus on "being president".

This kind of thinking is part of the problem.

Elitism and suppression of others (yes, even if it's a "woman" doing the suppressing and "governing").

  • I see this video as racist against white people.

  • Well it appears slightly feministic, but we know its true. I really condemn the way women are depicted in the media today.

  • abt time ppl realized gud effort

  • The fact this fraud organization never puts up there MTV or CNN or MSNBC and the people they use are UBER LEFT PROGRESSIVE like HANOI JANE FONDA,. They are mostly lesbians women too. If this was truly about "WOMEN" it would include conservative women and give bad marks to the liberal media like MTV & CNN & MSNBC. I would make a bet it is funded by some organization that George Soros funds. I will find out who paid for the video and let the world know.

  • @chris19046 Condi Rice is uber left progressive? Susana Martinez? Clearly you're ignorant of the world around you, so I'll try not to be offended by your characterization of all these strong women as "lesbians." How typical.

  • Like Bill O'Liarly never has PMS or mood swings....

  • important question ....who is own the media?

I think they are more dangerous than terrorist!

  • Feminist propaganda

  • Thanks

    abeldanger(dot)net

  • Calvin seemed gay

  • What is the cartoon at 1:42?

  • @14WhiteFang14

    It's called Enchanted. :3

  • 1.20 that google bitch is pure evil. I get shivers whenever I see her face or here her voice. She is satan

  • I think that women should play a bigger role, but it's not our fault

  • I guess, yeah this makes me mad, but I wish I could say I don't care about looks, but don't we all?

  • I believe that we as people and I do mean people who ever we are all have history and should listen to each to that

  • Gay

  • we all are cattle to the powerful, we all are a target for sales, they want us to belive what they want, 1% controlling 99% of the world, we all should get activist while we can becacause they are trying to shut us down, we can ahve a better world, with education for all health system for all we are not cattle we are not brutes.

  • Fap fap fap fap fap

  • These ads and movies sure are degrading to women, but the women in them sure seem to accept the large million dollar paychecks and keep doing it. They are more than welcome to get a real job and we wouldn't have these images to look at.

  • It's because men don't listen to ugly women, when fat ugly women speak most of the time i zone out and say "what?" or "oh you talking to me" so I agree Media rules!

  • @Zhardi87 ya hit the nail on the head

  • Don't get me wrong, but as a man, I appreciate a woman who looks healthy and go dresses up well with some make up. That DOES NOT MEAN SHE MUST FOLLOW EVERYTHING THE FASHION WORLD DICTATES, but she should world about her own health and well-being. Same with men. Good looking people don't need to look over the media for personal inspirations. One can be elegant without following the current fashion !

  • I'm surprised there aren't more "terrorist" attacks on these advertising agencies and the Faux News studios.

  • @phubans Maybe because they are the "terrorists" IMHO

  • I am Muslim and I approve this video. Thank You for spreading awareness.,woman must not be judges by bodies or beauty of face but by brains.

  • @sanny819

Christians preach the same ! ;)

  • ten hours online?

    hehe...

  • The media influences my morals?

I want to be free thinking though :(

  • Did michelle bachmann suck at being the GOP candidate because she's a woman or a shitty politician? Where were the good women politicians like sarah palin?

  • To call woman the weaker sex is a libel; it is man's injustice to woman. If by strength is meant brute strength, then, indeed, is woman less brute than man. If by strength is meant moral power, then woman is immeasurably man's superior. Has she not greater intuition, is she not more self-sacrificing, has she not greater powers of endurance, has she not greater courage? Without her, man could not be. If nonviolence is the law of our being, the future is with woman.

  • What is the ontological or even episimiological backing for the claim that these are learned and not innate behaviors?

  • @appolloian Episimiological isn't even a word. If you mean epidemiological, which is "the study of health-events, health-characteristics or health-determinant patterns in a population" (Source:Wikipedia), that has nothing to do with what you have stated. That is not health-related in any way. Same goes for ontological, where did you came up with this? Ontology deals with questions concerning what entities exist or can be said to exist (Source:Wikipedia).

    What the hell, man?

  • @Axeboy006 Forgive me I meant epistemological. And as for the ontological backround, I wanted some kind of statement of proof that these ARE learned behaviors, in stead of the CLAIM that they are learned and therefore avoidable. As far as that is concerned the video gave no evidence only biased unevaluated overly emotional claims... with no proof.

  • @appolloian Read "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell. Read articles online. It's been well documented that children have the same intellectual and mental abilities, thoughts, and perceptions at a young age, but these views change as they get older. To say that it's just a coincidence that women are discouraged from becoming scientists or politicians would be illogical.

  • Quote from the video: "If you wanna understand society and what's going on in the 21st century...you have to understand media!"

This video shows no understanding of media. It consistently portrays negative examples of media as if there's no choice in what media we consume. This is bull shit. Anyone can decide not to watch certain content, and as far as media's influence on children, do your job parents. There's shit everywhere in the world. Media is no different.

    Also, this video is sexist.

  • @jsmith6503 you;re right that we own the right to decide what to watch, but the fact is that we are influenced in what we choose to watch. popular culture is an utter dominance. you can avoid this you;re right, but you cannot deny that this is consuming women and youth. this video is not sexist...this is just one side to the story. I am a male for the record. if you studied media and YOU understood media...you would conform to the acceptnace of this message.

  • Calvin sounds like a homosexual... ju' sayin'

  • interesting how they're kind of delving into "our world" a little by posting this on youtube, i like to think of it as reaching out a hand that's sayin-- *leaves computer*

  • Also, the reason less girls want to be president by age 15 may have to do with the fact that they mature quicker and have realized that most people wont be fucking president. Not a big deal, just one particularly sensational point.

  • This video is totally reasonable. Except stupid Margaret Cho at 2:54. If she shut up then no one would be worse off.

  • you're never going to change the entire media and marketing system. why don't you just raise your children correctly and stop pussyfooting your parenting problems?

  • @SirLXR Children are raised by the entire society they are in.

  • lol this video is just as sensationalist as the videos it's talking about

  • This is a very interesting video. Great post. I think media is definitely shaping the minds of our youth and it is diverging them from reaching their full potential (in many cases, not all) We have to support the ones that plant good seeds in the developing mind of the child, youth, young adult, and educate those around us about the media that are planting false images for the child to live up to. It starts with saying, "You are better than this," then open their eyes to their true ambitions.

  • The media sure unjustly threw Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann under the bus. Conservative women have twice as big of a mountain to climb since media is largely run by liberals.

  • @theholepicture Do some research; that's not entirely true. The interests of the biggest five media conglomerates (Time Warner, Disney, and News Corp. among them) are run by people with socially liberal and fiscally conservative interests. The CNN vs. Fox News idea is a complete farce because those people are essentially one in the same.

  • @jumpbacktome Oh right :D

  • When you say, "Yes, BUT men have issues too..." you lessen the importance of the issue. Obviously both sexes are unjustly represented in the media, but this is a big problem. Support the cause, see the movie, and tackle the issue. Stop throwing in your "BUT"'s.

  • TYLER DURDEN IS THE CURE!

  • WOMEN HAVE DIFFERENT INTERESTS. WE NEED TO FIX THIS. WE NEED MOAR BRAINWASHING LIKE THIS TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • This is a much better video if you mute it and skip all of the people talking.

  • Great Video :) the media is surely a bad influence these days!! talk shows, crazy fights, provocative ads, the skin show, and loads of other such things!! it is definitely doing more bad than good!! STOP IT!!

  • This is what's so ironic about this message.

    How is it being transmitted?

    ...oh, haha, that's funny...

  • I don't agree with the sexual nature of our raising. Not just towards women, men too. But this movement of, "it's okay to be fat,, it's not your fault. It's just the way you look. Be proud of who you are." Is bullshit. Women, who are overweight, are being heralded as heroes and revolutionaries of our time, and that's wrong. There needs to be a balance of, how you look, as far as the golden ration, irrelevant. But be fit. Be that skinny girl/guy on magazine covers.

  • @RunninAD It's not physically possible to look like those people. Are you really unaware of all the image editing that goes on? Have you noticed that very few regular people ever look like those models? No one is saying it's okay to be obese, but it's not right to demean people for the way they look when they're worth so much more than that.

  • As a male I hope woman get in control of higher power so that I can use my body to get a good job. But jokes aside, it's not like men don't get unfair stereo types. How often is the dad in popular cartoons made out to be a moron? How often are males made fun of for being instinctually more attracted to procreating? I hope there will be more female leaders, and that males will never be looked down upon for being masculine.

  • You mean women aren't expensive sandwich makers?

  • Meanwhile in Bangladesh and Sierra Leone, developing countries have women prime ministers and Heads of States.

Tell you how much "USA" is the leader of the free world.

  • Fuck. fox. news.

  • Great video and yet still shows how we are divided this talks about the disproportional representation and only mentions people of color ones and out of all the womyn 3 WOC. I would like to see them do another one with all of the connections and how our struggle is one struggle. Peace

  • Thank you for raising awareness. It is a call to both the men and women of the world to reach out and mentor and support young women and young men too. I have faith this is just part of the times that are changing!

  • feminists have been hijacked years ago, now they are as bad as the masoginists. We need to stop acting like kids and start appreciating the genders, not following the plan of hate me/or women, we were pitted agianst each other by the media , and they are the people who do part of the dirtywork , that the powers that be, can't do.

so smarten up, and get clear , fight the NWO

  • How did that Bootlicker Condoleezza Rice get into this video??? She is a part of the problem....

  • the truth is, money is more important than morals in many societies. And the other truth is, when women join the 'men's world' -- politics, business, etc. -- they just sacrifice morals they could have preserved by not joining. That is why even if you have Hillary and Condoleeza Rice in high positions in govt, they are still not good role models. Their role in shaping and executing foreign policy makes them morally suspect. They are accepted in the 'boys' club' because they play dirty as well.

  • its western culture not media

  • 5:04 smart kid

  • 10 hours a week online. LOLOLOLOLOL!

  • #mnelsontube - i definitely do talk about these issues frequently with my children. I just wouldn't deliberately expose them, for instance, to the woman writhing with her legs apart while someone sprinkles money on her :). Far too lascivious. It's hard enough for young men to avoid these images in our culture and what you see cannot be unseen. So i use the tamer examples that come up in daily life - billboards, store displays, scenes in movies. I have the power at this point to help them lea

  • @szfehler I appreciate your comment. Though I agree with the video's premise, the nature of the degradation of women shown on the video makes me reluctant to share it with other younger loved ones.

  • I agree with that film regarding massive media manipulation of society... but what is with 51% women in US and only 17% in congress? In real life you may find maybe 15% women who want to think about politics, and 85% that say i dont really care. Additionally, women control men even when they are not in an official position i.e. financial management or political, as partners, wifes, girl friends and so on. And they also control a lot rubbish mass media... So imho this is not a mens world anymore.

  • I'm glad women don't have a large impact on the world. I hope it stays that way.

  • Media is usually a reflection of what society wants. As they say, sex sells. The media is to blame, but so is humanity in general. In societies before the media existed, this was just as true. It's also not a western phenomenom. This over-sexualization of women in the media is even more present in Asia and Latin America than in the West. It is a problem of all of humanity.

  • @mukal99 right... but mass media manipulation can be harmful or not. In most cases it is harmful because there is only one "moral": Making as much money as they can.

So if we ignore that problem further, things will get even worse until we have a society like in the film "idocracy".

  • @MrCrocotone I agree, we shouldn't ignore it. We should fight it, but we should recognize how innate it is within us all, and therefore, we ought to condemn their actions, but not condemn the person.

  • This video doesn't apply to me, because I choose what I watch (Dexter, House, White Collar, etc.). The "news" (a product itself), shitty movies like Transformers, and other such nonsense are outcast. Why can't others do the same, rather than whining about the media influence over their lives? It's not so hard. It's like that girl in this video who complained that she had to wear makeup.... LOL. Then don't. Caring what non-friends and non-family members think about you is pointless.

  • 7:55 "they're (leaders) going to look like a woman, and going to look like people of color, and that is the TRUE reflection of this country and of this world."

This is the most explicitely Marxist, anti-Western statement I've heard in a long time. This means war, bitch.

  • This video is propaganda in itself, the media hardly teaches men to hate women, it teaches men to bow down and be pussy worshipping sissies, and teaches women to be fake and says a boyish skinny figure is sexy WHEN IT'S NOT - ever wonder why? Homosexuals control modelling industry! And Jews control the rest and hate everyone.

Also, there's more MISANDRY in the media than misogyny, the hatred of men is more acceptable thanks to Marxism, thus propandized more.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow very one sided, men are just as much objectified as women, look at an male toy action figure now versus 15 years ago and that's just toys!

  • @TheShotgunscotty You're stupid. More people care about this than you.

  • @RomeoYouMust It's not his problem. This video wants to drag everyone into it ("a problem for the world" line is one example), when it isn't everyone's problem. Some people actually stop watching the news and terrible movies without letting petty issues from others get in their way. The fact is that a lot of women CHOOSE to dress provocatively for attention, sex, and acceptance, rather than actively pursuing friends and mates who don't give a shit. It's because they have no will; all their fault

  • Our world is our problem; They choose it yes, but not b/c they lack will, but b/c they believe the message (lie) that is advertised, at a young age, that doing/consuming x,y,z will provide the love and social acceptance they desire. But it doesn't truly, it merely creates a facade.

For most no counter argument is effectively raised against by media or parents. They don't know that pursuing friends and mates in other ways will truly fulfill that those desires.

  • @SpectrumBlitz You cannot just cross your arms and say it's not your problem. You know, it affects you, directly or indirectly (for instance, I believe people would be less selfish if media wouldn't tell them to be like that).

  • I only watch cartoons on TV and certain shows, never commercials. Far more than 17 hours listening to music. Movies depend, usually a movie is almost 3 hours itself so if I watch any it's at least that. No time ever reading magazines or much at all. Certainly far more than 10 hours online, I'd think I do half that daily. So much for those statistics, eh?

  • this is stupid, who cares.

  • The media objectifies ALL of us. We are there to manipulate. It is OUR choice to fall into that trap. We are more than this!!!!!

  • @RogueLes Jewry runs Western media.

  • Women situation in other western countries...

    youtube.com/watch?v=Y42hqlTmM00

  • one of best videos I've seen for a while

  • -sigh- This video is trying to make a good point but I wish it was more gender-neutral... "Calvin - High School Student" can tell me all day long how he's not misogynistic but at the end of the day, what societal norms are being imposed on him? Do you think a lot of women judge him on his intellectual capabilities, or do you suspect that him being a "skinny nerd in braces" is a determining factor in his dating life?

  • Yet again, more reverse discrimination against white males. Teach young women that they don't have to materialistic to be accepted and tell them they can achieve what they want in life. BUT don't force it! Capitalism creates the greatest good for the most amount of people. Don't demonize it with a misinterpreted feminist political agenda.

  • I liked the first like minute of this video... Then it turned into rambling feminism that misinterpret reality and the causes for the issues...

  • The exploitations of men's bodies are also used to sell products too.... Plus, Jane Fonda is an idiot. I don't know why they included her.

  • The reasons why less women hold higher up positions are not because of any sexist predisposition by men (for the most part). Men and women are different. We think differently. This is a fact. Men are more dominating (for the most part). That is why it is still mostly men who make it big in successful careers. They are the top shooters for those spots. While I hate the message sent to young women that they have to be materialistic to be accepted, the fundamental premise of this video is flawed.

  • @evantspurrell

It is showing one side of the coin. Read the description, it clearly states that men are victims also. Nobody not even the video, ever stated differently.

  • @stephz0r This film has a particular focus. If they took time to address every problem with the media, or even both sides, that focus would lose out.

    'Misrepresentation'

  • @stephz0r ; @evantspurrell

Agreed, but its not sexist it just fails to give equal representation.

I believe the video would benefit from a more balanced approach giving equal representation to both:

    How media defines women for women;

And, how media defines women for men.

Or I'd *love* to see a companion video targeting males.

  • @evantspurrell Weak men are victims.

  • @evantspurrell BOTH SEXES are the victim and both face negative/unrealistic pressures. and therefore society as a whole suffers because of this phenomenon. I think that's the point of this video/message.

  • @evantspurrell i smell a strawman

  • @evantspurrell To call attention to the misrepresentation of women in the corporate media is not sexist. Men just have a similar problem with the corporate dominated media both in how we are portrayed and in how insecurities are fostered in us to encourage us to consume as well. The pimps don't discriminate. Sadly, they try to pimp everybody.

  • As a guy, it's one of the things that makes me hate about media. It's not entirely mens fault that they see women like this, because they were raised by the higher influences that existed during their youth. But this can be fixed... problem is, are the people who ARE pushing these limits and portraying women like this willing to change??? I know several girls who never knew that they were allowed to say no when guys asked to have sex with them. It was very heart-breaking.

  • Can acknowledge that it even goes so deep as that seemingly benign show, AFV - America's Funniest Videos - that air video clips thought to be humorous because they depict injury and humiliation of fellow human beings. They are not funny, they are hurtful to a society that desperately needs to find a common ground of relationship, compassion and love for one another.

  • @Ecoshaman

I whole heartedly agree 100000%!!! Well said.

  • @Ecoshaman We laugh at their stupidity, not their pain.

  • @Ecoshaman Good comment. I'll add that I one time made the analogy that those in the media in power (and this is my opinion and not something I researched) could hope their audiences look at "comedy" like AFV and other real-life videos showing people injured and hurt for humor and think they'll consume it like they do say Loony Tunes which has some make-believe injuries and not think about the ER-visits, life altering injuries etc that people suffered on AFV.

  • Feminism seeks to paint men as evil and bad by continuously playing with self serving statistics, whilst simultaneously ommiting the heavy and omnipresent existence of female crime and wrong doing. Look at any feminist blog anywhere and they consistently bring up news reports and articles relating to men's crime. They do it to prove a point - That men are more violent, but they do it in a manner to assert that this must mean all men are violent which they are not.

  • @Xterio

Men AND women can be violent, judgmental and wrong doers. Gender is irrelevant here but I definitely do agree that feminist blogs and feminists in general can be quite one sided, it definitely p*sses me off that it's looked upon as being one way. thanks for your post.

  • @stephz0r

& by "gender is irrelevant here" I mean that it's not saying that "this is how it is, it's 1 sided and therefor males are inferior beings and females are superior" -- it's just giving perspective and information from one side of the coin.

  • @Xterio Feminism doesn't seek ro paint men as evil, that's called being anti-men. Feminism aims to achieve equal treatment between people and making your actions define who is better, not your gender or what is between your legs. Please get educated about real feminism and stop reading the "angry woman" blogs. Feminism isn't just for women - it's for men who refuse to abide by society's standard of who you should be. Peace! :)

  • this is really, really great - thank you!

  • @NUBF

    thank YOU for watching xox

  • this is about woman, not media... fuck this

women are all offended, they make money doing what they do, fuck this shit

    grab me a beer

  • @mariozex

hey, this is about the media too. it affects men and womens perception on females, not to say that males are excluded, it is just more specifically targetting the female gender.

    pass ME a beer! xx

  • @stephz0r It's a feminist video. Males account for 91% of workplace deaths, not much equality happening there and the feminists are not exactly doing their bit to usher more females into dangerous work roles. It would seem that it's okay for men to have the dangerous, deadly occupations, but when males dominate CEO statistics (a very, very rare, small miniority group of workers), then it's not equal and needs to be rectified. So they want to eat the cake, but they don't want to do the dishes.

  • @Xterio Wow. Very good rant my friend. Too true.

  • Beautifully stated :) and so true. i wouldn't like my children to see this trailer because of the images (which make their point because they are so powerful) - but i also don't think looking at amount of women represented in certain professions tells the whole story, either. There is power in being able to choose to stay home and nurture your own children (some men are discovering this, too) and many women my age are making this decision at the expense of ideology - to live a beautiful life

  • @szfehler i think one thing you completely overlooked here is the influence of this message on kids. yes, it is good to be able to choose to be a stay-at-home ___, but you may be unwittingly influenced into that opinion from an early age by this phenomena. and don't treat it as a taboo topic by not letting your kids see this video because they already are being exposed to it. otherwise, i think you've missed the point of this video: to discuss the existence of this problem

  • It's about TIME they made a video like this! Our views of women, especially in the USA is askewed by these MEDIA IMPOSED MYSOGYNISTIC ideas. THANK YOU for posting this. It helped me to remember what I need to prioritize as a woman of morals and integrity. May God set us FREE from these LIES! Starting with ME first...

  • @TruthChoseMe
