I went to catholic school 1 - 3 grade, where I bought "Dinosaurs and Orher Prehistoric Animals", my fave for many years. Even so young, I knew that it and the bible couldn't both be true. My prayers went unanswered, including when I asked that my mortally injured cat be healed. I was 12. I realized then that no god lives in the sky.
Religions are authoritarian hierarchies designed to dominate your free will. They’re power structures that aim to convince you to give away your power for the benefit of those who enjoy dominating people. When you subscribe to a religion, you enroll in a mindless minion training program. Religions don’t market themselves as such, but this is essentially how they operate.

I consider myself a pagan, but I do not worship dieties, nor do I do any elaborate rituals to honor dieties. I see them as symbolic representations for the things in our world. I guess that would make me Spiritual, but not religious by any means. I honor the Earth and I feel a connection with it, but I am highly scientific. The druids were able to mix spirituality and science withought any loopholes are flaws, and thats very admirable of them in my opinion.
This is why I feel no need to "teach" my son about "atheism." If he is raised with any encouragement to think for himself, it's most likely that he will arrive at some form of skepticism and disbelief. "There are people who believe in something called a god. Mommy and daddy don't" will probably be the extent of it.
The bible is 66 cherry-picked stories all written by men, chosen as a collective works by other men. Even still, there are glaring inconsistency within the book they came up with. They all have their own ways of rationalizing these inconsistencies, all of which are very disappointing and unsatisfying to answer "why" the bible is so backwards and upside-down. Ultimately, they have nothing but "faith", ie. make-believe. They are unable to realize numerous civilizations have all made shit up.
Great! another history of independent thought and critical thinking. Keep spreading these qualities AmberNigthWolf. I'll post my deconvertion as well, it will take time since it'll be in Spanish with English subtitles ^u^
You have definitely been reading the wrong books. You never read the book for yourself but just read about it from another book and make up your mind about something. that defies logic. You cannot know how kFC tastes by eating Macdonalds. Read the bible for yourself. You will be enthralled.
Do you think Richard Dawkins is a happy person? I wonder.
@shayneby The 10 plagues are all I needed. Don't tell me the same "god that loves us all" did all of those horrible things to all of those people, straight up to killing their first borns when all he had to do was smack pharaoh.. The 10 commandments is clearly a padded list, and 10 sure seems like a number a man would choose to end on. It is so obvious that flawed men wrote this book it is just insane. Study a bit, civilizations have been making shit up to control people throughout history.
'Deconversion' started for me, when I started using my brain and reading and reasoning and understanding logic. That's how it usually goes for most agnostics or atheists.
I enjoyed hearing your story, which is very similar to my own. I'm about to record my own story, and now I worry that it'll sound like I'm just ripping you off! hehehe I'm not, I promise!
The idea of Santa is nice and well if he did exist then he did. I mean a really generous man who was kind to all. I don't believe in the christian, muslim,or jewish form of god because he seems so mean. He "saved" us or something and well now we need to grovel and worship him for all eternity or we will go to hell.
This is almost exactly my story - never really believed in religion in the first place, annoyed by the bollocks in primary school, yes, did the wicca thing for a while after a life-long interest in mythology, and yes, it was fun. Have finally educated myself fully and now I've arrived at atheism. Also a very good point that our educations seem to kill any interest in things we should be into - why is that? Why is our schooling so negligent?
That was just brilliant - that was atheism for "normal" people. Some of the points you made were very original (like the one about parents telling their kids about Santa not being real and what if all our parents had just "forgot" to tell us that God/Jesus isn't real).
Thank you. I was worried that no onewould find this interesting when I made it since turning away from religion was difficult for me. But then I think my deconversion must prety similar to most athiest since fundies are in the minority.
RD militant atheism and 'the god delusion' are a great con. RD made tens of millions on his god bash' texts that as he put it, 'cater to the spiritually lost masses'esp agnostics, new age, pagans, lapse chr's etc, think about it...from some one who tried every* way in life, just be a decent person (not mocking people), science is indeed great, but u dont need to be a fundie atheist to enjoy it, and btw that little bit of faith u once had, that RD stole, was the very thing that made you unique.
I'm not fundie, I just think religion is rediculous and Christianity is the one I'm exposed to most.
And I assure you that he didn't "steal" my thread of faith, he swept it away like a cobweb even the spider that made it no longer uses. And if you think that faith made me unique you obviously don't know me. I'm a fairly wierd person that has had an interesting life so far. Plus I still practise Wicca, it helps me focus my mind. I just believe in any of the dieties.
7.Santa looks like guy in the malls pretending they are invisible Santa and putting the dumb boys on them lap and promising heavenly toys on Christmas.
7.God looks like priest in the Church pretending they have close connection with the God putting the dumb alter boys on them lap molesting the boy and promising heaven on judgment day.
Good story.

Since then, knowing reality has been my passion.

was it just me, or did anyone else find that background noise annoying. Can you re-make this entire video, without the background noise?
