  • Great song. Actually, it is a reworking of a song Tommy had written with a band he was in prior to Styx (72-75) called MS Funk. Their original of this song is called "Bitter Suite." If you can find their CD called Platform Shoes, it is well worth it. You can definitely hear on the Crystal Ball album how much Tommy and his earlier music influenced Styx.

  • Wow...took me back again,...

  • fkn rips it up.....good stuff.

  • mademoiselle is alive and well in Montreal...

    ,

  • Thanks for posting this song, Styx was my 1st concert as a barley teen. I saw them 3 times in the 70's. Thanks again Styxfan93

  • tell me where are you going sweet mademoiselle

  • love these guys top to bottom

  • Not just influenced by Queen, but also the Beatles and maybe the Turtles as well (hear that band's "Happy Together").

  • Damn......great stuff that I haven't heard in years!! I had "Crystal Ball" on vinyl, wish I still had it........thanks so much for posting all this great Styx material!!

  • TOMMY!

  • tHAT WAS GOOD TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Only Tommy Shaw could have succeeded the late John Curulewski, and the band played just as well.

"Je t'aime, Mademoiselle, ooooh la la!"

  • Tommy Shaw and styx are still making millions off songs that Dennis Deyoung wrote,Lady started the train rollin in 72 Peace

  • luv it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • awesome band.

  • I also prefer Tommy Shaw on vocals when it comes to a Styx songs, the majority of my favorite Styx songs are sung by Tommy Shaw.

  • This is the Styx I know and love the most, I thought they totally went the wrong direction with "Babe" and "Mr Roboto"

  • Styx hit #36 in Billboard, 12-25-76. God bless ya, StyxFan, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • luv this!!!!!

  • How many heard this song on KSHE?

  • Shaw really gave this tune a kind of Queen sound.

  • @rattinox

But so too did Dennis on "Mr. Roboto" in 1983.

  • this Styx is a million times better than Mr Roboto

but our vanity vain society blindly loves

    Mr Roboto

HEY PEOPLE WAKE UP AND SMELL THE SEXINESS OF THIS SONG

EUROPE NUDE BEACHES CHICKS ALL OVER YOU ARE ON A SHORT VACATION

  • i vote these guys ONE OF THE COOLEST BANDS OF ALL TIME

  • Love this song! Love Styx! I'm sooo glad I grew up in the very late 70's and 80's when music was absolutely awesome! And Tommy Shaw is still "ooh la la"

  • This is Awesome!!! I never heard it before!~ thanks 61rocker!!! ^_^

  • This came off my favorite of the Shaw albums great song . This album and probably Equinox are my favs . Kool

  • This was my fav album back in the sweet summer 77' when i was so young ,impressionable, and so very fruitful...musically and scholar oriented that is..;)

  • @JennaP46 You still Are!!! Cj

  • This is a great song...I wore out this CD...This old man, Crystal Ball, Ballerina, this one, Put me on...This album is very underrated...as good as what came after. A lot of Styx's music had a mysterious element to it...it gets into you.

  • I've always liked their music, and this particular tune I've NEVER heard enough.

  • two words...LOVE IT.

  • Tommy really made some great changes in STYX. Good call who ever found him.

  • I met this fascinating French-American lady and I woke up one morning and this song was in my head. Strange day. Then I found out I had a test this Thursday at college and I couldn't go to the Styx concert in Nashville. So sad. Great post.

  • this band is awesome, elvis is better though, but not by much. i grew up with this stuff! i used to sit in the living room, and my dad would play this and we both would start singing and playing on our air guitar. which we still do sometimes haha

  • I awoke this morning at three and could not sleep, for some strange reason I thought of this album which I have not done in YEARS!! I got up and hoped some one would have posted and you did!! Thanks so much! I have been listening to all the tracks and singing along, can't believe I still remember all the words after al these years. Thanks so so much for posting! A million wonderful memories just came flooding back.....

  • @kellygirl46 Thank you very much for the comment. That is exactly why I originally started uploading the songs in the first place. I am so glad that you found what you were looking for.

  • @kellygirl46...........me too! Cj46

  • Back in the 70's, I was always astonished at the amazing clarity of their recordings, and I still am. You can really give your speakers a workout with these songs.

  • @rubbersole79 Couldn't have said it better myself...the guitar tone and vocal production is sweet! :)

  • STYX --- "MADEMOISELLE"

  • AW, YEAH.

  • i miss dennis, chuck and john.

  • Definitely one of my favorites from Styx!

  • Styx, Yes, and Bonjovi, and my favorite all alround bands. These bands didn't make 1 or 2 great songs. I can download there wholediscorgraphy and listen to 90% of it without saying yuck!

  • Hit #36 in Billboard. RIP, Panozzo brother. God bless!

  • Thank you for posting this.

    Every formar Styx is GRAET

  • @SteGross what? If you mean form of Styx then no! Styx will always be.... Dennis, Chuck, John, Tommy and JY!

  • INCREDIBLE .............

  • I'm surprised the never played this one in concert, considering it was biggest hit of the album. Don't get me wrong, I love "Crystal Ball", I just amazed how that song kept it's popularity in concert over the years.

  • @xxbicceyxx Never? Hard to believe!

  • My first Styx album was Crystal Ball. First concert too. I lived next door to Tommy Shaw's mom and dad back in the late 70's. They were really nice people.

  • how about witchwolf!

  • I love styx's and all the other oldy rock bands. I am happy my dad got me into this music i can't stop listening to them. This is one of my favorite songs by them so thanks for putting it on youtube!!!!!!!!

  • I haven't heard this in years!! great song, great arrangements and amazing guitar works...thanks,

  • Tommy shaw is so cool, styx was the first band i seen live,in 1979.I was 13 and couldnt keep my eyes off the little blonde dude playin his ass off.Its been 30 years, and to this day i still rock out on my guitar!

  • He's the coolest, he's got so much energy on stage, he really gets the crowd entertained.

  • @rockhollar I saw my 1st concert in Johnson City TN m i was 13 FOghat and Styx in 1977 at Freedom Hall, that was a magical night.

    .

  • "Crystal Ball" has always been my favorite STYX album- I like the upbeat feeling of the entire disc. The crossfade between the opening track "Put Me On" to "Mademoiselle" sounds like the click sound of old 8-Track tape stereo players. Brings back memories!

  • I AGREE!

  • I like it when Tommy Shaw dose the lead vocals, cause he has such passion in his voice and it shows in his singing. Gr8 song from a gr8 band.

  • He's got a really unique voice that not many people have.

  • WHAT GREAT MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!

  • Ahh... back when Styx was Styx... sorry... don't mean to start the "debate"... just enjoying this song among all the others with the original members* :).

    *(From Crystal Ball forward)
