As a Canadian/American (not necessarily in that order), I continue to be amazed by Canadian fixation with Evangelical Christians. They are a very small minority of Christians and really only wield influence in a handful of Southern, Western, and Midwestern states. I am a Mormon and most Evangelicals despise us despite us being believers in Christ and mostly conservative politically (in Canada and USA). Evangelicals are generally good intentioned however, they do burn way too many bridges.
