Elvis didn't write this song. It was written by Otis Blackwell in 1956 and covered by Presley in '57 (one of many to cover it, actually, along with McCartney, Billy Joel and Cliff Richard).
@L1LpRiNc3sSsAkUrA I think Paul rocked it a little too hard. If he sang it like Elvis did, he could have done just as well. But yes, this version has nothing on Elvis.
@charliegray12212 Yeah, surprisingly repetitive and simple. I know you don't need to be flashy with a classic like this, but to do the same thing throughout the whole progression was a bit disappointing.
@Veggieman87 I'd have to agree that he is one of the most youthful and energetic, but I've always considered the man in the number one position to be Mickjagger... Though I do prefer more of Pauls music!
@GarryHarriman It's the Beatles and everything went amazing for them. The Beatles are legends and they changed rock and roll forever. You should go and listen to the song "And your bird can sing". It's a really good song written and composed by the beatles. (It's also my favorite song :3). And in this video Paul's not ripping anyrhing from anyone. Elvis didn't even write his own songs for heavens sakes!
Paul could do this song a hundred different ways, here he picked a hard take, I like it softer and have heard him do it. Still any tribute to the King by a Beatle has to be counted as good.
Paul nunca dejo sus raices del rocanrol. amaba a Elvis creció con el, por eso canta todas sus canciones en su gran estilo. Elvis esta en su tumba, feliz porque el estaría haciendo lo mismo
@scatback105 GET A COFFIN DUDE!!!! @jeffkodiac Mick Green, doing guitars for Mecca in this vid, came close to being the guitar player for Elvis as legend has it only his tour manager didn't let him know Elvis wanted him in the group till he was back in the UK. I'd had been just a tad pissed off if that was me.
what a band !! but the real guitar star was the other guy NOT Dave Gilmour - Mr Mick Green sadly RIP formerly with Johnny Kidd and the Pirates (check him out!!) Yet another great guitar player gone to join God's Great Gig in the Sky -sadly the list gets longer and longer. I play this song with my band Legacy round the clubs and pubs of Wiltshire and it always goes down a storm.
I love how they just do the song for the pure joy of it; just like a good old bar band instead of like an Elvis impersonator trying to get everything exact and doing the old "show and tell" routine of,"Look! I'm Elvis!"
@gbmaccafan well, it was. Elvis did Beatle songs in concert and the Beatles versions were better. Me, I love Elvis and I love the Beatles - you can like both you know.
That's a helluva band. I love the Beatles and Elvis but people get into this "one is good and the other is crap" bull. Truth is, the Beatles idolized Elvis, as did most in those days and did his songs well into their careers. Elvis recorded and performed many Beatles songs, and talks about him during his '68 comeback. See, they respected each other immensely - the two greatest influences and biggest stars of our time,
That is Gilmour. Ian Paice (of Deep Purple) was drumming. The credits are at the end. Pink Floyd used to record at Abbey Road Studios back in the day.
@macyjrey Well, I guess because they're legends: On lead guitar : David Gilmore from Pink Floyd, Ian Paice from Deep Purple on drums and Mick Green from Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas on rhythm guitar plus McCartney on bass Something really big
@ab1234555 Sure. But this is just a bunch of very talented guys having fun and paying tribute to someone they loved. And this version of the song is pretty good.
@jpjames1 he was referring to poison ivy, which isn't "fuzzy" itself but causes itching and a fuzzy feeling on your skin, thats what he said years later, anyway.
I love this version of the song! I also love Elvis' original, but Paul always HAS done a truly amazing job in Rock and Roll classics like this one, and, of course, in his own Rock and Roll gems like "I Saw Her Standing There," and "I'm Down," not to mention "Hi hi hi" and others.
Ever heard of the word 'subjective'? By charismatic do you mean forgetting whole sections of songs and breaking out into inane laughter instead as the bloated joke that used to be Elvis Presley did during his Vegas shows?
I love the Elvis version but this is so much better! It's far more aggressive than Elvis's original - real rock and roll. It also shows how truly awful Elvis was in some of his Las Vegas appearances when he turned his classic 50s hits into plodding show tunes
I think those tree were awesome. because there is not easy to play the music of somebody else. and on this version paul did great. see how Elvis plays Beatlles music. and you will see that was not easy for him too.
@jlejra I'm not telling paul did not great. I said in this video the song is played in the style of the "Cavern" days, and I don't like it so much. I think this song sounds best in the Carl Perkins' version: straight, pure rock n' roll. To me, it's not to be played as a Little Richard hit. I like that style too, but not on this song. And I don't like so much Elvis' version too, although I'm a fan of him.
One of the great Rock "N" Roll songs. Guaranteed to get a party boppin`.
Elvis of course, did the superb original back in `57....which became his first UK number one hit. Another cool rendition was performed by Susie Quatro. Rock on.
I agree. Both Elvis and The Beatles deserve equal respect. They are the two acts that changed the world more than any other and we may never see another act rival their achievements. I love how the beatles always credited Presley as their biggest influence and how Presley confessed to being a fan of the fab fours music!

“It was Elvis who really got me hooked on beat music. When I heard "Heartbreak Hotel" I thought, this is it”

Everybody knows Elvis was a huge influence on the McCartney and Lennon.

" None of us could have made it without Elvis." Buddy Holly
