I LOVED "Song Without End" (the film you are referring to) and personally thought it was a great film, largely in part to Dirk's superb ability to read almost any line and imbue it with such sincerity and natural realism that he became that character. For my money no actor today can touch him.
One of the very few actors of whom I love ALL their films, I wish he was better known here in the States. I'd been wanting to see this documentary so much, THANK YOU for sharing this!
While I understand the logic of keeping a person's private life private, but when a person is gone and they were as important to their art as Dirk was to British cinema, the public should have some record of their life and times. Nothing salacious, mind you, just to a story of what made them what they were.
THANKS for posting this! I'm in the middle of reading the second of the late great Dirk Bogarde's autobiographies ("Snakes & Ladders"), which covers his life from his army service to the filming of "A Death in Venice". What a gifted writer he was! He was always one of my favorite actors...so handsome, so charismatic & so intelligent. Not content to just be a "star"...he wanted to "spread his wings' & make a difference in his acting/writing & he certainy eventually did! Thanks again! :)
I think People who are gay should be allowed some sense of privacy. True they are in the public eye but what business is it of ours of what goes on behind closed doors? It's those celebrities who flaunt their entire lives in front of the cameras who give up their privacy just to stay in the press.
Dirk Bogarde was truly a most talented and sensitive actor of whom we should be very proud. His PRIVATE life should have remained so, but thank you for the opportunity to see this.
What a fascinating man! In the early nineties, I moved in the same neighborhood he lived and I remember seeing him often, shopping for food in Partridges on Sloan Street, but never had the courage to stop him. I regret it now.

I cannot describe you how happy I am to see this, I'm half crying and half laughing here! Call me a hysteric, I don't care - Bogarde's my hero.

@ytrogergt
Is that for sure or speculation? Seems so unlikely, but I reckon, you must know better! How did you get hold of it?
