  • i remeber when arma came out ppl were freaking out saying that bohemia were traitors but when Ofp dragons rising came out everyone took that back lol

  • How good will this run arma2 anyone?

    Intel Core i5 650 3.2GHZ Processor

    8GB DDR3 Memory

    1GB ATI Radeon 5770

See-Thru side panel with a blue LED fan

  • @steevn606 It will run it awesome. Definately no worries.

  • @steevn606 sorry but you must have a red led fan to run arma 2 on high settings

  • @MegaTimebomb098 Thanks I'll put that with the rest of the 500 comments that are like that.

  • Since the new 1.59 patch updaye the ai habe been kicking some total ass now

  • @g0rrym08 OH MY GOD IS FREEMAN D:

  • hey if anyone wants to make a mission with me add me on AIM ive been trying to get someone for a while

  • I will make a mission with you in about 6 days, sorry for the wait, the place where I ordered my new video card and stuff, ARMA 2 comes out on the 30th. But my AIM is xironmanfuryx. Read my specs on my profile to prove that I won't lag. Subscribe too please!

  • I wonder on what type a rig they have they presentation, i bet it will run jumpy or just avarage on most gamers rigs.

  • they said it wasnt that highend of a pc. should run perfect on an up-to-date gaming rig.

  • Low End, Single Core PC's will have a lag fest on normal settings. However, a suitable, medium range video card, combined with a good amount of RAM and a decent CPU should run the game well with good visual quality. My single core runs the game okay on low settings, but I'm going to blame it on the processor.

  • @semperfi122 I got an i7 920 6gb ram and ati 5770, I can play most of the lastest game quite smoothly, but this game runs kind of slow, and mouse lags a lot

  • is arma anygood wats the size of the map and all that stuff?????????

  • Armed Assault 2's main island is 225 square kilometers.

  • Every one has got to remember that this is Alpha footage.

Its still using the old Armed assault engine just showing off the new a.i

  • no you dumbshit, that's the arma2 engine

but since they're basically the same engine it doesn't matter

  • Yea butttttt.....

its using the old textures its all been updated

    no need for the attitude

  • if you look at Virtual Battlespace® 1 and 2 which Armed Assault 2 is using that engine ( not called arma2 engine just for info ) VBS1 and VBS2 look and play so much better. is this because its cross-platform now ?

  • that is some impressive AI, i really like how smoothly they move around

  • Yeah....

They should have tried to make this game good.

At least better than their competitor, OFP2.

  • OFP was started by Bohemia Interactive. Codemasters is using the name because of a legal dispute put it in their possession.

The Armed Assault series is the true Operation Flashpoint.

  • then the true operation flashpoint suck at realism.

  • a i is tracking through buildings and still has no idea of what "cover" actually is.. i see no improvement for = new a i

  • don't play w/ AI then.

  • this ArmA 2 just looks like a combination of all good addons and patches that have come to arma1!!!!

  • yeh although this is from last year they should make a release date for PC and work longer on the consoles XD because AI could defo be better on xbox 360 and PS3

  • Release date is 26th of June

  • The AI could be the same on all consoles. And probably will be.

  • I see no improvement.

  • lets wait and see

  • This looks like ArmA 1.5... I am not very pleased with this. Same crappy radio chatter. The AI STILL thinks that laying in the middle of a street is tactical. The SAME animations, and stail environment. I want a NEW game, not an expansion of the first game...

    God damn you Bohemia...

  • thats true

  • This game has so much potential but from the looks of this video and all the other ones that i have seen for ArmA 2 the only big change is the graphics. the guns sound the same, the death animations look the same, i mean come on....i still have very high hopes for this game though.

  • This video is from an early stage look at the newer ones, looks alot better.

  • The animations look exactly like OFP, a now... 8 year old game?

    Extremely dissapointed.

  • This is an Old Video.

  • death animations is the least important aspect of the game.

  • i love Arma this looks like it will be realy fun to, only thing is sometimes the AI can be smart and other times they're fricken retarded. like online i ran right in front of an enemy and just stood there. i shot him he went prone while i was franticly letting rip shots until i finally killed him

  • u bitch

  • it's still a ridiculously outdated engine

  • That's why some people on the game industry called it the "most realistic environment" even some said it was better than Crysis. It's outdated still it makes it. LOL

  • It's a very realistic simulation , but the environment itself is very dead and non dynamic/realistic. The engine is clearly a hotted up version of OPF engine and Arma 2 is just hotted up again.

It also suffers from bad optimization.(Arma 1)

Other things is their damage model , still look very stiff and unrealistic and the AI was a joke in the first Arma, so was the cheating in multiplayer.(No anti cheat at beginning)

  • It's not Operation Flashpoint engine. It is based on its principles but Operation Flashpoint engine wasn't built to do the kind of stuff this one does. And for ArmA2 they reconstructed all over again since ArmA 1

  • Cool is that the tiny reflection of the glass reflection thingy on the road? I see em every time in real life!

  • I don't know whether to get this or OFP2, both games just look so awesome, but I think OFP2 might have a bit more of an action feel to it.

  • looks 100% like ofp.nice

  • opf is the creater from arma2 dumb kid

  • in arma 1 yes i know , but what about arma 2 , hope its same

  • wait a minute , 250 km square miles while mp only allows 32 on a server... am i missing something , cuz i don't think that fits.

  • ARMA allows an ulimeted number of players in multiplayer, as long as the sever can take it. Its not uncommon to have 100 vs 100 in ARMA 1

  • Ive never seen a 100 vs 100 game ever in armed assault. The most ive seen is 64and the biggest ive been in is 50+. I think the engine supports up to 128 players.

  • yeep 250km

  • not impressed. the movement is still robot like

    so pissed off

  • The videos like half a year old. Things will have changed.

  • i hope so lol.

  • Well the animations sucked in the first of the series too, both OFP and ArmA. However despite the flaws, these were legendary games. What BIS is aiming for now is pure variety, looks, sounds, and maintaining the realism from before. It can be improved but it certainly isn't first on their minds, friend.

  • Oh my gosh ! Its way better then the first ArmA , they AI in ArmA just moved dry , and like they where bots ! MUch better now

  • So time for my big conversion from "the sequel to Flashpoint" (bullshit), to ArmA 2, the real sequel.

Nice going Codemasters, you fucked a great game and now BIS is taking legal action against you. GO BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE!

  • This video is worse than most OFP2 vids, as far as commenters go. This is a fucking CoD/OFP2 fanboy infested video. Damn, it's like a nest behind enemy lines. However at least when ArmA fans take a trip over to OFP2 vids, they actually make sense. I just read some fanboy saying that ArmA 2 looked like "poopy". That says it all for me about what the apparent "sequel" (According to new Flashpoint fans) has become, along with it's new community. I used to be a major supporter of OFP2, I regret it.

  • for ARMA the speed of your proccessor made a reasonable difference to the AI, with my old computer (some old pentium 4 2.6Ghz) the AI took alot longer to react than they do now with my Q6600 @ 3.2Ghz. After getting my new computer i actually noticed the difference.

  • wonderfull map!!! can´t wait for it!

  • the lack of decent AI in ARMA 1 always made it feel a little dead

  • These previews are very annoying. I hate the way the camera jerks around.

  • will this game come out for 360?

  • yes

  • too bad thers not much blood

  • This games not much different from the first if you look at physics although they have improved framerate and gameplay alot.

  • lol so real, the guys covering the road and hes in the middle of the road lol.... NO one would do that, you would be dead in 2 secs

  • OFP2 looks MUCH more polished and better.

  • agree, just look at the OFP2 graphics - its even in alpha stage and beats crysis or killzone2... can't wait, the first one was awesome!

  • so far all the videos of OPF2 have not been ingame. They are all pre-rendered. They have only shown 30secs of actual gameplay footage which really shows nothing about the game

  • There are no actual in game screen shots yet arethere. Therewasthat trailer which was admitedly cool but very fake.

IF people are looking for an OFP sequel, OFP2 is not the awnser, its not being developed by the same people for gods sake.

  • Yes, there are a good amount of in game screenshots now. Google "OFP2" and click on the first link, for instance.

In my opinion, OFP2 is looking to be the perfect combat simulation game, although the trailer was a bot COD-ish.

  • Screen shots cannot proveanything, theyshow graphics theydon't show gameplay.

I don't think you can call it a combat simulator from what is available, they look to be focusing on graphics. Plus the fact you only get 32 online takes away from it seriously....

ArmA can have an unlimited number ofplayers, its simply a matter of the servers ability

  • Gameplay videos have been out for months.

  • I stand correct, it looks cool, but alot like a very very preety BF2. Don't hate me for saying that, that is how i see it.

  • Yeah, so far it looks like 70-80% OFP, 20-30% BF2. Believe me, we are protesting like hell in the official forums about the arcade-ish aspects. Followers of OFP2 are made up mostly of OFP and ArmA players such as myself, so you can count on it.

  • Problem is the OFP/ArmA fans are small in numbers BF2 fans are a large group. Inevitably they are in it for money just as with Bohemia and so will feed the fan base with the highest numbers.

  • Fortunately, I haven't really seen any BF2 fans on the forums aside from people who suggest playing the PR mod. I just read an IGN article as well as a Gamespot article. Assuming they are telling the truth, the gameplay is just like OFP/ArmA, with long range planned firerights. Search for OFP2 on IGN's website and choose the PC version. The article is there, from a day or so ago.

  • The fact that OFP2 is limited to 4 players in Multiplayer will kill it for me.

  • Four? It's 32.

  • yea, thats 4 player campaign. 32 vs

  • how can you say that? Have you seen the ingame footage?! absolutley not polished

  • blacksungregg:

OFP2 is shit compared to ArmA.

    puoduh:

"can't wait, the first one was awesome!"

And now you abandon it's creator?

    Bohemia Interactive made OFP1, ArmA1 and ArmA2

Codemasters published OFP1, got the rights for the name, and is now stealing BI's idea.

    Codemasters is shit.

If you want quality, go with BI.

And the graphics in OFP2 is shit... All the videos are pre-renders (10x better looking than in-game), and I bet you, that OFP2 is not even remotely as awesome as ArmA!

  • And to be honest, I think that even the pre-renders of OFP2 looks crappy... Looks like plastic dolls, and are just plain ugly!

    Bohemia Interactive FTW!

  • Also.

"Codemasters may have the Operation Flashpoint name, but Bohemia Interactive have the soul." PC Zone

  • I disagree strongly, and to me ARMA looks like poopy. I've seen enough footage to know well.

  • No actually you're just a big home boy of Arma. I actually consider both carefully.

  • You're plain stupid if you think OFP2 is gonna be even half as good as ArmA 2.

  • Well it's obvious what you are. You just love a franchise because it's 'there' without even considering options. You base all your rationale on past games and titles. You're a straight out idiot.

  • at blacksungregg,

apparently you haven't seen anything from OFP 2.

  • ur right its going to be much better. I hated Arma and I will never go back. It was such a pain in my ass.

  • And what about OFP 2 ? Did you see enough footage of that ?

  • I can see this being a change from call of duty, i havn't played ArmA but I'm guessing it is a much more tactical game. Realism a key factor in development it seems although I'm just presuming here.

  • would be cool if we could use that god observer mode in the retail aswell

  • You can. It's a simple script.

  • -Shitty same radio proto call

-Charater animation still looks dull and boring with no realism

-AI still doesnt know how to react to gun fire. They still go prone and sit there

Bohemia has failed me... I hope operation flashpoint 2 is making changes

  • ofp 2 will be nothing else than eye-candy for console kids, hope im wrong though

  • Exactly !

  • Although "mastershaq" is 110 % correct Im still agreeing with what others say its not what they're "doing" its how they do it it seems like they have only 2 point movements kneel and then prone no realism to it although I did see a trailer it seemed better than this

  • Exactly. Lost of people are complaining that in ArmA 1 and preview videos of ArmA 2, 90% of all soldiers spend their time in the prone position, not moving at all.

  • lol.

at 4:33 "pretty fly for a white guy" starts playing.

  • i don't belive bohemia anymore

  • Shut up, the game is not finished programming yet is it?

  • well looks like the ai are still shit lying in the middle of the road god

  • This is going to be long.

    1/ when is it out

2/ will it run on a laptop maybe PSU problems

    3/Is this alright Spec

    -nvidia 9600ms graphics card

    -4GB DDR3 RAM

-2Ghz processor speed (the main problem)

And if you are wondering i am blanketing all ARMA 2 vids so i can get more answers

  • Most importantly, what processor is it? if it is dual core 2ghz it should be absolutely fine. im guessing from the other spec it will be; however if it is a laptop dont expect to run it on high settings

  • the processor he is using is a dual core 3.0ghz he says in another vid

  • imagine if they recreated a city (real city) on this game or ofp2 that would be crazy

  • why?

  • urban fighting in really packed suburbs and city blocks it would be immense

  • im really looking forward to a game where u can fight in packed citys. state of emergency style.

  • ya same i wish this was for pc and op flashpoint 2 had civs but ill just keep dreaming till it come true :(

  • THIS ISNT COMING FOR PC?

  • Of course it is.

  • It's Bohemia. Of course it's a going on the PC.

  • yeh with bombardment and lots of action it would be awesome

  • looks not so good

  • cool. now go back to whatever arcady shooter game you play and let us play a real shooter in peace

  • Arma I was a really good game with all those mods. But on the Xbox 360 (wich I'm buying) it isn't that possible to mod by the community. Arma II should make the sounds of weapons firing and AI speaking better. Then Arma II will be a very enjoyable game.

  • I agree COMPLETELY....First got Arma1 and thought the sounds and models were beyond mediocre.....with mods, they ROCKED and the game ended up rocking more....however, they didnt seem to learn from that.

  • I don't see a difference.

  • i hope they fix the AI speaking quality, thats what really brought the game down for me

  • Not to mention the constant laying-down maneuver they love to pull.

  • But of course it all depends on the individual situation. Sometimes it definetely is better to run into cover, especially if you have no chance of spotting your enemy. But if you can see him, you can shoot him. That's an important rule.

  • I hate that enemy go prone in every enemy contact. If you are in the open like in a field and u take enemy fire, do you go prone all maybe run to the nearest cover? And AI should react to enemy fire by shooting back and maneuvering to cover. But this vid seemed better than Arma (1).

  • Going prone is the best thing you can do. How does "shooting back and manevering to cover" look to you? You know that it's practically impossible to shoot accurately while moving? Even most players react like this in OFP and ARMA so do you think that the AI is stupid even if it seems natural to behave like this?

  • Going prone and then what? U stay there and hope the best, right?

  • Correct. You hope that your aiming and firepower and your squad's coordination are good enough to eliminate the threat. Warfare is about chances you know. For example (not real values): Going prone and shooting back gives you like a 40% chance of survival. Running to cover is very risky since you'r a large target and well visible. And then what? You're loosing your whole flexibility for cover. Your enemy can outflank you, he may still hit you, he knows your position but you don't know his... so?

  • Ok, off course this depends very much about the exact situation and distances so its hard to conversate whats right and what isnt. But do u say that arma AI is good and realistic in every situations? No way, maybe it does what they say in the manuals but in real life it might not be the best idea.

But my point was that, if u are being fired bullets fly through air around u, I think its the time to open fire in to direction of enemy fire, this will give them something other thinking than aimin u

  • Naah, I just don't like people complaining about going prone and proposing actions themselves like "running into cover while shooting back" which aren't any better. Actually the Arma AI even doesn't act like the one from the manuals and I don't think its behaviour is very good either but it's a fact that most players will just go prone once they're under fire especially in open field and seriously: that's what OFP and Arma are mainly simulating so in most cases the AI does the right thing. ;)

  • But if the Ai would do that and not just go prone like a robot, it would give some action to gameplay. Now u just try to shoot the proned enemy, while avoiding their super accuracy. It just so predictabele what they do.

  • And i certainly dont understand why my comments have 3 minus points and im only critizing the game. And then people that say "arma is goodz but arma 2 will be badass wheez" get 3 points .. Dazzed and confused

  • Sure that would add action but hey, that's not what this is about. In games like Call of Duty you find idiotic enemies that just behave that stupid so you can kill as many of them as possible - sure, that's action but not realism. And I'm sure you never played ArmA online 'cause than you'd stop complaining about this since it's true: Many players just go prone and then an aiming duel begins. And seriously: The AI's accuracy isn't that incredible. In fact mostly you slightly have the upper hand.

  • Im sure that many things u said is true but still u should think that even u can be wrong. You just think u are right in every case. Critisize urself sometimes, And i do play arma online, so thats sure thing were u are wrong. I will not argue about this anymore.

  • They Should do that ArmA dont need cd key for playing Multiplayer !

  • lying on the road is not good

  • i'm sure it'll be an improvement in all areas of the original ArmA but this video really didn't demonstrate improved AI, seemed to be running around like headless chickens and taking up prone/stand prone/stand positions every 5 seconds just like in ArmA.

As for covering each direction whilst lying IN the middle of the road...truelly clever AI would of got themselves off the road.

  • Hi Pos,

It actually did demonstrate exactly that if you watch you can see how they formed a cohesive defense parameter that L shaped formation is called refuse left and you can see how different characters took different stances for support. Now I hope they have the V hedge and rotating left and right abilitys as well as with fire support on withdrawl.

  • Nice, clouds can now cover the sun, at least it seemed so in the forest part.

  • Forgot to add.

We've shot one of teams member with S rifle from 200m.

ArmA: AI gone prone, starting shooting after 2nd shot.

FFN: AI started looking for cover dropping smoke shells.

ArmA2: Dragtime, I will let you finish this one... :)

  • its ARMA1 with better graphics, nothing more, the AI is still stupid, react too slow and AI lying down to "take cover" in the middle of a street? cmon!

  • Not true!

  • BIS! We want more!

    It's still nothing impressive.

We add FFN mod and ArmA1 AI is better.

  • To be honest, BIS ARmA2 AI is going to be a lot better than FFN MOd (Which is still based on ArmA BIS AI)

  • Nope, it's not goin to be better. FFN react fast, take cover, camp, capture buildings and camp on sniper spots. Also FFN got better animations.

  • Omg,

All FFN animations are from standart ArmA.

You don't get it: FFN AI is heavly based on the original Ai with some tweaks.

ArmA2 engine is extended from pro's, and you already see how good they are

  • FFN animations ARE based on ArmAs, yeah. But arma has more animations than it uses...

Whats more, FFN AI are scripts, if you know what's this... ^^

About ArmA2, don' force me to say that this AI is good because he camp under tree and in the middle of street. I want to see more and I want to see hand signals, tactics.. Then I will say whatever you want.

  • Would be nice if we had AI that actually learned from past mistakes ~ And agreed I would love to see them under fire rotating left or right and attempting to close the door on another team.

  • And where are the differences between the AI from Arma 1 and those here by Arma 2? A sniper kills a soldier near his teammate and he do nothing.. just waiting that the sniper goin to kill him too. Looks really like the same crap AI from Arma 1! And why they don`t fix the main problems like the reload and driving animations? Damn!

Anyway, I love Arma 1 and i still gonna do it by Arma 2^^

  • is there a release date

  • Q1 2009.

  • wow still zero physics..

  • I wish ArmA had euphoria for the human units.

...Yeah, and while I'm wishing, can I have a slut dispensor?

  • LOL

  • there is physics in arma but bis just dont use them like they should

  • Not possible in ArmA.

  • thanks

  • Look at the barrels for example, dont they have physics (also in flashpoint), the good thing is that I can use 1000 of them and it still dosent lag

  • Lies!

    They have physics!

    Check

    3000 Barrels ArmA

    Video

  • I don't call that physics, i call that retarded non newtonian physics.

  • The graphics look pretty decent in the second half. I mean really good, is that really in engine?

  • Yupe, its preety impressive compared to the previous games right? lol

  • I know it isn't Crysis level...but the textures of the grass and bits of the soldiers look really good. Way beyond the previous games.

  • No but they are entirely different the scale of ArmA is a huge attraction as is the realism, i imagine thats why most people by it. I certainly did for that reason.

  • Well at the end, when they were showing the soldiers walking the grass and so forth, I thought that looked really amazing...graphically. Was I alone?

  • LOL i have been agreeing with you the whole time?? I said its pretty impressive.

  • i keep thinking arma 2 was shit but dam they got the game right this time sounds better arma 1 was shit game haha

  • ArmA was a good game just needed to tweak some things is all and work on the Multiplayer side.

  • hopefully they come out with a demo
