  • Huhu..

  • Such a beast.

  • Oh God the sound (has orgasm)

  • stock wastegate?

  • wonder what would happen if you put your finger in there?

  • @Chevrolet8608 Lmao, i was thinking like "Damn i would what would happen if i put my finger in that.." then i saw this and i literally Lol'ed

  • @Chevrolet8608 ... only if you go first :P

  • This might be exciting if you stuck your finger in it.

  • That would make an excellent salad shooter..

  • No! Strawberries for a strawberry milkshake.

  • stick ur penis in it

  • Bug to turbo Well hello there spinning thing that sounds good. Lets get to know ahhhhh that hurts.

  • Cheese Shredder?

  • i was just pictures him being at a mudhole doin this and a whole shit load of mud flying over his shoulder going right in the turbo hahahahhha

  • Do you think diesel engines would be as popular if forced induction was never invented?

  • @xilix couldn't agree with u more! A turbo spooling is an amazing sound! Which is y I have a turbo car n love it :)

  • I absolutely love turbo's. There's just something about them. They're so simple yet so effective. The sound they make is awesome, the way they spool up is incredible to witness. I just love it! I wish I could get a job at Garret or something.

  • That was stupid.

  • I would not recommend sticking fingers in there, when my brother was in a diesel class they started a detriot 8v92, one kid said hey the turbo is not spinning, the dumbass could not tell the difference between a spinning wheel and a stopped one. so he stuck his finger in it, that was the end of his finger.....if i was the instructor i would have yelled at him and said you got finger in my engine.

  • Don't stand too close.

    It'll suck you in

  • @Chevrolet8608 looool

  • @mrtwelvevolts how about if the fan blade comes unglued and shrapnel goes through your head? wait, never mind.

  • Stock filter? gotta get a BHAF on that thing I got one on my truck sounds amazing!!

  • very nice sound

  • and then...a small sandstorm blows in...

  • you want to know how to make the loudest turbo out there? first, take air cleaner off 2, start motor 3, take a hand full of rocks 4, commence throwing into turbo 5, stand back and watch

  • i was waiting for that peice of tape to go in there but sounds nice

  • my buddy drove his 7.3 home from a trip w/out the cleaner and it was fine

  • lol i drve myn without a a air cleaner and its a 3 inch turbo inless your on graval i dont think your going to hurt it

  • You are lucky nothing got sucked in there while recording the video.

  • @Chevrolet8608

thats exactly what i was thinking.

  • Dude take care of ur truck clean that engine. Oh an put a smoke switch on it you'll like it.

  • Damn I should make this into a ringtone!

  • put some fruit and ice in there and make a smoothie make sure to put a cup by the exhaust pipe though. i forgot the cup and wasted $2.57 worth of kiwi's and strawberries that way...

  • @dwnrety1 fuck i hate it when that happens

  • good ol DEESUL holset's

  • sic. what is that like a gt40?

  • dont worry to much about running it with out a filter our pulling tractor has been pulling in the dirt for 10 + years with out one and there is no damage to the turbo.

  • God i love the sound of a turbo <3

  • Shit mann!! I love that sound

  • put some paper through and see what comes out the tail pipe...LOL!

  • @RM250D8rzr im guessing shredded paper?

  • @Rattacool most likely ashes from the paper or nothing at all. just white smoke. it goes though the motor first befor it goes out the tail pipe rember

  • hey you took off the little baffle ring in the compressor snell right

  • Most amazing sound in the whole damn world!!

  • how awesome would that be if a bird got sucked right into that thing just like a jet engine turbine lmao

  • I love that sound!

  • did you take out the silencer ring for this video or permanently

  • hahahahah that was actually funny

  • that shit can suck a can in better put that filter on

    =D

  • Thanks dude

  • i have a ford 350 2003 what happens if i do the same is it safe

  • I have a 94 and the book says its ok to run like this if the air filter for some reason gets clogged... but you got to put it back on soon... hope that helps

  • nooo

  • @tito93637 well, since yours is a ford, nothing is safe. Jk. Yeah you can run it like this a little while, but i wouldnt recommend it for more than a couple seconds

  • @mrtwelvevolts Yeah well i posted this 3 years ago

  • @ntxic8td 4 years its 2010

  • @ntxic8td make it 4

  • lmao

  • man i love that sound!!

  • @papaskwat10 L O L

  • haha great idea

  • can somone tell me if a turbo off a 1988 mack truck will fit on these turbo diesel trucks "cummins powerstroke or duramax

  • hahahahahaha i read that and fell on the floor laughing, nice

  • @BoonDocker77 LOL.

  • Holset :D

  • HAHA, man, yall are crazy! YES, a filter is in place all the time! Yes, i understand a microscopic piece of dust can damage the turbo, but for a 30 sec. video, i didnt sweat it too much! The turbo is fine today and has suffered no damage from this video LOL And no im not sticking ANYTHING in there haha

  • @ntxic8td too late man I think I saw a powerstroke get pulled in

  • @ntxic8td stick your pecker in there i dare ya

  • @ntxic8td

And for the people who constantly suggest putting a finger or pecker in there, you are officially an idiot

  • yea, these turbos are incredibly hot and spinning 10's of thousands of RPM's, The turbos fins are made from a polished high grade aluminum, but ive seen stainless steel and titanium fins as well. If these fins slow down too fast they will even warp. For how much these things cost to replace, its not really worth it to get the couple more hp to leave them open like this, the slightest coating of soot on these things will kill your hp, better put an air filter in front.

  • turbos spin at 170000 rpm

  • try 35000 rpm

  • @royaltu20 correction turbos CAN spin at 170000 rpm. but their speed is limited by the wastegate, which diverts exhaust gases around the turbo to control the amount of boost

  • This is correct - When I did my apprenticeship at Holset Engineering in Huddersfield UK, the development department used to test the units to destruction and speeds in excess of 230,000 rpm - I have fond memories of seeing compressor covers going off like bombs due to compressor failure at this sort of speed - Astonishing to think back really!

  • The guy didn't say he drives it without the filter, so geez man relax.

  • Relax? He asked is it bad and why it would be bad. I only tried to "enlighten" the situation by giving some other facts than "IT'S BAD YO!11".

To use common sense is not forbidden.

  • That last part was uncalled for, but I get the rest of what you're saying.

To show respect is not forbidden either.

  • I did not mean to offend you. English is not my native language so I might make sometimes bad choices of words.

    We cool? :)

  • Oh, well absolutely! :D

  • @420witchdoctor even if you're not driving it, taking the filter off a truck turbo in an engine bay likely to be filled with all kinds of shit ain't good. even a blade of grass can seriously fuck up a turbo. at best the turbine blades get wrecked, at worst what makexxx happens.

  • Haha, a blade of grass would come out as confetti and wouldn't do shit to the turbo. You really need to learn some shit, dude. Turbos have high-grade steel blades.

  • @420witchdoctor doesn't matter, you do know that turbos are spinning at 20,000+ rpm right? anything that hits those blades is going to fuck it up at least slightly. at 32,000rpm a blade of grass will put a chip in a turbine blade. ever wonder why airports are so anal about keeping the runways clean? jet engines and turbines are basically the same idea. anything gets in there is going to fuck it up, be it grass, rocks, paper, whatever.

  • Well apparently this guy doesn't care because he has money. So there it is, oh fucking well.

  • does anyone know if running an open turbo is bad?

  • VERY BAD

  • @MazderMan2011 is it really? and how?

  • well water and dirt and all kinds of shit can get in their now and fuck every thing up, thats why its bad

  • you dont wanna do it all the time. but if somethin was to fly in there like that piece of tape flappin around for example. it wouldnt be good haha. filters are there for a reason.

  • yeah it is bad if you run it all the time like that.. but not just idleing

  • LOL

  • lol yh noice :P

  • I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but someone should really stick their finger in there!

  • it's not going to hurt sitting in his garage unless he's sweeping the floor at the same time. lol

  • why don't you stick your pecker in there!?

  • Because he probably likes being a man lol.

  • ooooooooh :(

  • that is probally the worst thing you can do for your turbo. running it without a intake A. filter and B. properly piped path for the air

  • That is a dodge fucken cummins. Best truck on the market. Get that bad boy all stacked up and light it up down the road!

  • what if shit gets sucke in?

  • then your turbo is fucked and it gets sucked into the engine

  • well if he drops a load on his engine then thats his problem

  • the compressor fragments end up in the intercooler, boost goes to "zero", EGT jumps to 1000*F or more, and the guy's wife gets to increase her vocabulary, while he decreases the bank balance on repairs.

could be worse....could be hammering it up a nasty hill with a nasty load on, and not paying attention to EGT's until he creates a see-thru piston or two.

Either way, not a real bright thing to do.

  • yo uncle u sound like a petafile, and i think you need to focus on maybe getting a girl for once in your life, the guy was just trying to show his turbo no one said he runs it like that dooshbag!

  • uncle i dont want to hear about your ass getting hammered up a nasty hill while getting a load dumped in your O ring, also while im increasing your wives vocabulary with my weener in her mouth!

  • yo, 1dummoefoe, I was responding to a question downstream about "what happens if something gets sucked into the turbo"....while you're contemplating that, learn to spell... It's "you", "pedophile", "wife's" and "douchebag"....

you must drive a Powerstroke....or maybe a PowerWheels :need rolleyes smiley here:

  • put your finger in it ^^

  • ok for 5cents i wont go any lower! lol

  • Exactly what i was thinking lol!

  • now thats what a real diesel sounds like son

  • Should NEVER run with an open turbo.

All it takes is micro particles of grit to ruin both the engine and turbo. Plus..with a filter it'll run a lot quieter without all that annoying whistle from the turbo..

  • Some people LIKE the sound of turbo whistle. I for one love it.

Lots of people run with no filter, especially racing applications.

  • i like the sound

  • itll take more then that, maybe a big cloud of dust will do some damage but wont ruin the engine, on a damp day thiers no reason to need a filter for a short period like this

  • can always run a screen in front of it if 100% securely mounted

  • ya so its still sweet asshole. dude u sound like the guys mom

  • intercooler?

  • ^Goes AFTER the turbo?

  • Yes it has one

  • hey ntxic8td i have a 1996 diesel 12 valve how do i turn up the fuel on mine thanks nice vid

  • move the stock fuel plate forward or buy the #10 fuel plate in ebay for 24 bucks

  • what size is that turbo can any one tell me

  • Holset HX35

  • lol that would suck if he sucked like a bird in or something. *THWUMP!!!*

  • which is better the 12 valve or the 24?

  • 12v all mechanical, easy to turn up the fuel

  • does that make it smoke black?

  • I dont really like the electronic lift pump or the electrically controlled injection pump

  • 24 valve cause u can just chip them and ur done. then if u have to pull something u can turn down the chip so u dont overheat. 12 v u cant u have to manually turn the fuel up and down and it takes alot longer. best cummins is the 03 24 v common rail.

  • but he didnt spend any money to do it manually ... i have a 24v i wish i had the 12

  • do u have a chip for your 24 v? if not u should get one it makes it a lot better. and trust me u dont want to swap a 24 v for a 12 v valve just so u can save a couple hundred bucks on a chip.

  • Yeah I have the edge juice with attitude

  • Yeah i just dont like all the electronics in the newer motors. If a 12v gets warm you just let off the pedal a little bit.....

  • no i have never looked in his eyes. i always thought his music sucked and never looked at him.

  • perfect car for micheal jackson. haha

  • stick your finger in it see what happens

  • really y would it do that wouldnt it make more air sense it dont have filters and shit

  • Its bad to have an open turbo due to the fact you will prob suck something in over time and kill the turbo

  • YEP THAT IS TRUE

  • is i bad to have a open turbo and does it make the turbo louder someone tell me

  • kepp it outta the dust. that looks like the intake side of the turbo and if you aren't carefull it'll suck trash in there and ruin that turbo. now if it's the exaust side it don't matter because the exaust is blowing and it'll blow trash away from it. but from the looks of it that was the intake side.

  • It looks hungry....You should feed a honda. Or better yet one of those blue oval symbols

  • Yeah that was supposed to say feed IT a honda. My b

  • I just had a chance to peruse one of Ford's new 6.4 turbodiesels, and I never would have imagined that 650 lb-ft of torque could come from such a docile, quiet engine! Diesels are definitely enjoying their time in the sun, and while I have no need for a big truck, I'm certainly going to look very closely between a Fiat 500 Abarth and the diesel Volkswagen Bluesport for a new car...

  • you're a men if you put your finger in the turbo while the engine is at 5000rpm .

  • throw in a bread crust, lol

  • Thought the cam would get sucked in haha.

  • There are sometimes very legitimate reasons for having an open turbo. Do you usually leave it naked?

  • To breathe

  • No, def not, this was just for the video

  • Turn that shit into an industrial meat grinder.

  • Hahah thats a good one!

  • thats gonna suck small children off the road on the way past

  • Hahaha!

  • hahahahahaah that was a good one ill have to admit

  • and possibly a few ricers

  • Very nice just a smaller version of what the Jumbo Jets use

  • nice turbo, looks and sounds nice

  • nice ....im thinking about getting either HX-35 or a HX-40 for my eclipse....

  • we dynoed an older 12valve with no intake on it and this things really get turning when you put a load on them, idling you might see 20krpm but under full noise you hit 100k+

  • can ya get closer?

  • why dnt trucks have bov's like race cars?

  • if what you mean by trucks is diesel trucks; diesels do not need a blow off valve because they do not have a throttle plate. The abrupt closing of a throttle plate is what causes compressor surge or what is commonly referred to as "chatter".

  • thanks

  • they often have recirculating valves thuo they respond well to these, in diesels that is

  • Race cars usually don't use BOVs either. ;)

  • Race cars, or rice cars? lol jk

  • hahahahaha

  • Sorry i was being a bit of an arse in that. lol. to the OP im a fan of these older style dodge diesels. frig they hold their value quite nicely. and run forever. maybe you posted it. BUT how many miles currently on it atm?

  • 210000

  • prolly good for several times that amount more

  • Ricers don't have turbos, they can't afford them after the "blingin" wheels and mile high wings. Ricers just put whistlers in their exhaust.

  • you got that right lol

  • @Mayo07J

    THE WHISTLES GO WOOO

  • is that a garret?

  • its a holset

  • HX-35

  • No more comments about:

    -Sticking my finger in there

-Sucking in dust flys, dirt, etc. in the turbo, its fine, still spins, dont worry about it.......

-How im going to loose a cyl, ruin my motor, etc..... Yes it can happen, but it didnt...OK?
