Clay Matthew III (The Green Bay Packer) father (Clay Matthews Jr.) also played 19 seasons in the NFL; Bruce's and Clay's father (Clay Matthews Sr.) played 5 seasons in the NFL in the 50's. Clay Matthew's III's brother (Casey) is on the Eagles, his cousins, Bruce's sons, Kevin is on the Titans, Jake is playing for Texas A&M and Mike will soon be playing for Texas A&M as well.

Bruce Matthews and John Hannah are probably the two best lineman in history.. Hannah is in the top half of the list, why isnt Bruce?

@r3v3r3nd2008 Hannah is certainly one of the all-time greats. I think Bruce get's a a little less love because he played in that run-n-shoot, which was regarded as a bit of a soft offense. Bruce's greatest attribute was his durability. I can name several linemen I would take before him, but no one was more durable. I think he's about where he belongs, maybe he could be higher, but I don't think it's an outrage.

@600430 he's not?!?! Troy Aikman is on this list and Warren Moon is NOT? I hate to make accusations, but it seems that the NFL (or NFL Films) is still not ready to accept a black quarterback. Whatever the reason, it is highly offensive that Moon is not on this list if Aikman is.

Warren Moon deserves to be here, but I'm sure he understands there's still a bias vs. black QBs foe some of the voters.

I doubt it bothers him. Being the first black QB in the HOF speaks for itself.

I don't feel it's a racial thing. Fouts, Kelly, Jurgenson aren't on the list either and they all had high accomplishments. Fouts retired as the NFL's all-time leading passer, Kelly took the Bills to 4 Super Bowls, Jurgenson was an all-time passing leader before his retirement.

@600430 Heh...no. Warren Moon won all of THREE playoff games and never played in a conference championship. His stats were inflated in the run and shoot. Hall of Fame IMHO is deserved, but top 100 all time...not so much.

His son Kevin plays for the Titans and his other son is a starter at tackle for A&M. The Matthews family is just full of NFL talent. Clay Matthews III will be better than his father and has a brother who plays at Oregon who will be just as good too in the NFL.

@redmustang03 I have watched Bruce's youngest two sons play football in Houston, at Fort Bend Elkins. Jake Matthews just started his true FROSH yr at Texas A&M. Mike Matthews is likely the state's top rated Center... at Elkins. They all have an even-keel about their character. Not flashy or overly voiceful, but they play with great technique and are dependable. Great line of talent.

@bsptlw, just because your Dad was great doesn't mean your going to be. For the Matthews I can see that Clay for the Packers will be even greater than his Dad Clay (Cleveland). I mean already went to a Super Bowl that his Dad never went to. Still for the Bruce Matthews boys that they got rely on speed and technique to blow these tackles who are going to be a whole lot bigger than they are.

Coming out of the legendary Class of '83, he is absolutely one of the all-time best offensive linemen in the NFL history. I just wish that my beloved NY Jets could fine tune Nick Mangold to the 2nd Bruce Matthews into the next decade.
