  • rodman was a better rebounder

  • "all the teams that didn't pick me, I'm with the spurs, imma make them regret it"

    -Dejaun Blair

  • My favorite Rookie! Yay Dejuan(enjoy San Antonio!!!)

  • Dujuan Blair is heating up! Playing with the same dominating post game he showed at Pitt despite his 6-7 frame....like the Spurs rookies....will take time for them to gel though!

  • Jerry Buss took one look at the Spurs draft and trades..................and immediately ordered that the Lakers colors be changed to blue and PINK.....so they can all wear pink panties when playing the Spurs...........If you're going to look like little girls......you might as well dress like them.

  • I'm a spurs fan and i have to say that i love their moves on the offseason. I didn't expect the spurs getting DeJuan Blair in the 2nd round but i'm glad they didn't pass him up.

Trading for Richard Jefferson was a big move. If they stay healthy the spurs will be dangerous in the western conference. Still I like more young athletic players.

  • What, the Spurs are going to win the Ship homes. They essentially have 2 teams: The starting 5, and the bench with McClinton at the PG spot, Mason Jr. at the SG position, Manu at SF, Blair at the PF spot, and Ratliff as the C.

They are going to do it, because no one can touch them 10 up, but Denver is close, and that's it!

  • Love the spurs move this season. Add veteran McDyes, stole Blair and got a great shooter (albeit a little short) in McClinton. They could trade Mason for all I care he totally disapoeared in the playoffs. Jefferson was a massive addition. My only suggestion is a legit center than can bring some energy off the bench or 6 fouls.

  • Well McDyess can bring us 10/6/2, so that's all w need out of him.

  • he has to keep duncan out of trouble. Imini 9french center) looks ready to contribute as well. Good luck.

  • No luck needed, but the Spurs just won the title with what they have done this season. No one comes close to them at all, at all!

  • The lakers are very potent. Spurs cannot match their size. Cavs just got shaq, albeit it a run down shaq but hs is still good for 19/9. Denver suddently is powerful. I love the spurs but I have to be rational man.

  • The Lakers without Ariza are as good? Vujacic, Walton, Mbenga, and Bynum.

Be for real, the Spurs have their big 4 now. Denver cannot match up with mindset, and discipline, so you can cancel them.

The Spurs have too much for the West, and that's a promise.

  • The Lakers failed to beat a healthy Spurs last year, and now the Spurs improved WAYYYYY more than the Lakers.

So go, be rational. But you're also being ignorant.

  • Am I ignorant or are you living in la la land. The spurs added jefferson a proven choke artist and blair without knee caps. behave. Ginobili is 34. Dincan is not taht good no more (sadly) and tony parker is fucking selfish and one dimentional. Yes he drives too fucking much. When he got finals mvp he was hitting from 3 but next year he lost his damn mind and kept driving in like a mad man. Sure he led them in coring but look where that took them.

  • Funny you talk about age, when Kobe is showing more signs of aging than anyone on the Spurs and he's only 31.

And Parker selfish? No one in the league is more selfish than Kobe Bryant.

Parker drives too much? That's one of the biggest part of his, and the Spurs, success. He went years leading the LEAGUE scoring in the paint, and dishing it out for wide open 3's.

The Lakers got who? Nothing but age and then an Artest that is nothing that he was 2 years ago, and inconsistent as fuck.

  • agreed man. jefferson is exactly what they needed. and man blair is a steal because they got a great player and a good kid as well

  • I wouldnt trade Mason. Blame injures for last year. .Look at Mason before he played the point he was agrubley the best 3 point shotter in the NBA. Last year team had absoultey no team chemistery with the big three only playing in 44 games toghter and the roation always chaning. Expect Mason role to be a spot up shotter which he is goign to be very good at now with Jefferson he will be open more often fromt he wing. By the way McClinton wont make the team this year.

  • i think george hill will be our back up PG.McClinton is a great shooter, but what he showed in the summer league he could use some experience in the d-league.but i think McClinton will be like george hill, you know do bad in the summer league then do a lot better in the season.

  • the spurs needed 3 things this offseason:

    1) get another scorer

    2) get tim some help with some bigs

    3) overall, get younger and more athletic

    1) they traded for richard jefferson

    2) signed antonio mcdyess, signed theo ratliff, drafted dejuan blair

    3) got rid of kurt thomas, fabricio oberto, and bruce bowen, picked up jefferson and took blair

thats basically all you could say the spurs needed to be elite. no holes anymore, anywhere. have scorers, bigs, youth, depth. what else could you want?

  • Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • blair forget about not getting picked by the other teams...you will help spurs win another championship...be angry at the lakers, mavs, rockets, boston, cavs, orlando , nuggets cause those are the teams spurs will meet in the playoffs.

  • he couldn't be in a better situation I mean he gets the greatest power forward to ever play the game as his mentor he's already a great rebounder and post player now he'll learn to score in the post even more and get even better footwork now he's gonna be a 20-10 guy in 2 to 3 yrs time once tim starts to wear down from the nba season.

  • next step to find a 6-10-7 footer pf/c to help timmy....thats what we need..and i hop r.c. buford and team would pick rasheed wallace...in free Agency or trade udoka and bonner...to find a better pf/c......spurs is really one of the best team...cuz the board don't lie...blair and mcclinton 2 of their 3 picks are really ment for them....esp. blair...hoping next year everybody is healthy and that we can win championship number 5!!!!

    go spurs!

    spurs for '10 champs!!!!!

  • they got what you said they needed red021494021494, and i agreed with you on what they needed but they could use one more thing that would pretty much guarantee them a championship. i would like to see them trade Bonner and Finley to Charlotte for Raja Bell. Bell is a good outside defender like Bowen but is a better offensive player.

  • and i hope they would do that esp charlotte having puzzling trades for ex.tyson and emeka?!are they serious?!maybe we could hae raja if mj ants more salary cap...but emeka has the larger salary than raja so lets just hope for bell and 2nd opt shane!

    peace

  • i don't know about Battier. i would really like them to pick up Bell for Bonner and Finley. that just sounds good but i don't think that the Spurs will even think about that idea.

  • hmmm wel yeah i do agree about that but as of now i want matt bonner out pop gave him all the time he may have last season but didnt show that much productiveness...i hope for another trade....but for you what is the percent that bell ill be a spur this season?!

  • psshh... very low. i'd say 10 percent but only because they won't think of it. if they thought about the idea, i'd say about %80 because both teams would do it.

  • and i really want a trdae...if bell cant be a spur whos ur second opt for a bonner and another psur trdae...mine shane...yours?!

  • uhhh... i would want Grant Hill or Barnes, haha, all Suns and former Suns. but realistically seeing as how both of them were just signed, i would probably want one of a few players, but Shane does make a lot of sense, those few players would be like you said Battier, Salmons from Chicago, i don't know if Detroit would do Tayshaun but him, Posey from New Orleans, Thadeus Young from Philly, Rudy from Portland, Calderon from Toronto, Brewer from Utah, or Butler from Washington. alright, a lot. ha.

  • but out of all of them, Shane, Salmons or Posey sound good, but really i don't know about Prince, Brewer, or Butler would happen.

  • oh, and i'm talking about Antonio McDyess and Theo Ratliff.

  • How the hell did DeJuan Blair fall right into our hands at #37? I still can't believe we got away with Highway Robbery in the Draft like we did in 1999 and 2001! Whoever didn't take Blair is going to regret it.

  • next year the spurs can be better than the lakers if they stay healthy

  • MrAxel20 is right, as long as they stay healthy, they can win the championship with Richard Jefferson and DeJuan Blair now. and DeJuan Blair sounds pissed at the other teams and wants to kick there ass and sounds like he likes being with San Antonio which is good. this was a total steal. GO SPURS!!!!!

  • He said the spurs were the only team that believed in him and that he is going to give 1000 percent.

  • yeah.

  • i do agree...cuz my wishlist ryt now is booner fin(i hate to let him go)or bonner theo trade for raja bell i agree about him and 2nd option is shane battier good defender and offensive player plus houston needs big guys a older guy to block shots and another one to hit threes...

  • @MrAxel20 haha the fuck is sam young?

  • Best season for the Spurs next season, I can't wait, I wish today is the season!!!

  • The Lakers know they have trouble waiting for them. Spurs all the way in 2010 baby Drive For Five In Ten!!! Go Spurs Go!!

  • Cant wait till next season!!!

  • Love this pick.. him and J Mac gonan tear it up next year.. along with jefferson and the big 3 spurs gonan go back on top.. solid team with nice bench.. Hes a new shaq xD xcept he can shoot

  • thanks for posting this. :)

  • With the 36th pick in the 2009 NBA draft, the Memphis Grizzlies select Sam Young from the University of Pittsburgh

    (12 seconds later...)

With the 37th pick in the 2009 NBA draft, the San Antonio Spurs select DeJuan Blair from the University of Pittsburgh.

LOL. The Spurs were ALL OVER that shit. Pop was like, "Holy Shit! Draft that muthafucka!"

  • Yeah win DeJuan Blair was still up when it was San Antonios turn I was like hell yeah its gonna be Blair lol and it was cant wait till next season!

  • lmfao i can only imagine

  • What a great pickup. You know Blair sort of reminds me of Malik Rose a bit (back when Malik was a Spur). I don't think he's as mobile as Malik, but he does bring a similar hard work ethic, and is a great rebounder and effective around the paint and mid-range all at 6'7". This may be the backup PF the Spurs have been looking for who can give them consistent production and hard work ever since Malik was traded back in 2005.

  • lol, Blair is 10x > Malik

Wait until the Summer League, he is going to absolutely destroy.

  • Lol. I'm still suprised how teams like Indiana, Washington, and Atlanta passed up on him just b/c of his ACL probs. They'll regret it come season time and the yrs onward.

  • portland passed on him 3 times hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • All we need is a way to bring over and sign Tiago Splitter as center and we got our lineup and bench covered to win at least 2 more championships. DeJuan is going to make those other teams that pass him regret they did that, just watch. GO SPURS

  • Welcome DeJuan! Prove to everyone that they made a mistake not picking you.

  • SPURS GO! GO FOR THAT #5, a bunch of hungry guys from last year from Gino, Tim and Tony to RJ and then him ready to GO! HE IS READY!!!!!

  • Welcome to the 4 time champs SA Spurs! You'll be underestimated every year, but you'll get a chance to prove them all wrong!

  • Welcome to the Spurs DeJuan!!!!
