  • V8...to an I6....right......

  • very nice man. spend a couple bucks and get her washed haha that cars dirty in more ways than one ;]

  • Woow, thats a screamer for shure! I got the FM 10's put on mine. I like those though.

  • Ahh I was gonna say this is not an sc400 cause that's the 4.0ltr v8 but you're in the states so that engine was never offered. Importing one has the problem of having the steering wheel on the other side. So why did you do the swap? Just for something different? Im in Australia so I imported both. For similar money you could have gone beyond a stock 1jz. My 1uz soarer has about 190rwkw and my 1jz about 200rwkw. Similar.

  • Awesome sound. How much did the whole swap cost?

  • @Carfreak15243 Usually if you are wanting the Automatic, your looking at about $4-5k if you have it done. The 5 speed is about $3k more. The speedo will work, but the Tach will not be right if you swap the SC400. The read out will be double what the engine is actually turning. You can get a unit to fix the readout, costs about $300.

  • 2jz have more torque but this thing sounds lovely

  • Hey man I used to have an SC400 also but I totaled it 2 fridays ago, that's a fun car man and it sounds good.

  • @blairBROKEN Man, sorry to hear that! I saw a couple on craigslist already swapped. You gotta check it out!

  • sounds delicious

  • btw sounds sick as FUCK!

  • what kind of cat is that? looks like a 300 cell?

    thanks!

  • @xxxxdarksidexxxx Yep, it is a 300 cell thunderbolt cat. Very resonable and works great! For some reason, they are not legal in CA. They are legal everywhere else. It worked really well.

  • does it have a resonator or glasspack somewhere in there like in the tips? flowmasters usually sound hella raspy this one does not im confused

  • No there wasn't a resonator. Originally it had a thunderbolt 3" in to 3" out high flow cat on it. Solid 3" everywhere else, with the flowmasters on the end.

  • Normally you get a "Raspy" sound from the the exhaust "pulses" becoming more pronounced because they're not running into eachother or bumping into one another. On Turbocharged cars, normally the Turbocharger itself will slowdown the exhaust gasses, taking away the rasp and a lot of the noise normally associated with a 3" Pipe.

  • Sounds really nice esp in higher rpms

  • you made 308 rwhp on stock twins?....nice man

  • @jamaicanlovrboy It just goes to show ya that the "gentleman's law" at 280hp is WAY lower than the engine is really rated..

  • Very true, they lied to us lol. Those r good numbers for stock twins. so with a little more boost and ur exhaust I'm sure ur about 350 rwhp or even more and to think the motor is not even working hard yet. I just got a 95 sc300 and in the process of doing the swap.

  • Sounds awesome wonder how it would sound with the 2jzgte

  • @mx6ndfrspd Probably about the same. The 2JZ is only .5 liter bigger.

  • ahhh that exhaust on a 1uzfe would blow my mind

  • Ur right, it would shake the trees.. If you look at my other vids the Trans Am basically has the same exhaust using the SLP bullet. Not as loud as you would think.

  • what kind of cat converter are you running on that thing sounds amazing!

  • i bought the car from him and i think he said it was like thundercat or something along those lines..

  • w00t go 1jz =D

  • was the JZ in the 8?

  • @couragenow No, the 1UZFE was in the SC400 originally. The engine was removed and replaced with the 1JZGTE a twin turbo inline 6 from a turbo supra in Japan.

  • do you realize that flowmaster is like stuffing a cork in your exhaust? even more so on a boosted engine.

I bet you could find 20whp if you switched to a straight through muffler like a dnyomax ultra flow

  • Actually the flowmaster outlaws are a straight through muffler.

  • sick car man.. do you know any really good car places in Fort Worth dealing with tuning and stuff? Its kinda my hobby.. some feedback would be nice!

  • wow, sounds deep for a straight thru muffler

  • I picked up over a tenth going with shorty flowmaster outlaws and their 3" scavenger kit. check my vid out.

Like he said, the scavenger has more flow than the dynomax bullet. They're not supposed to be street legal, but hey if you can get away with it go for it. They have no insulation at all on the inside, just deadening rings.

  • lol

  • this tells me you know nothing about the flowmaster outlaws. they are a racing muffler, they have no restriction causing it to be one of the loudest mufflers out. look em up on the flowmaster website, you can fund em under the racing section.

  • Love the sound. Keep up the good work. Check out my video and also what was your final HP. I need to get mine retuned for the new exhaust.

  • Hey man, thanks for the comment, you have a super sharp ride!

  • badged as sc400? why?

  • because it is a sc400, not a soarer or sc300.

  • if it's a 1JZ-GTE it's not a SC400...

  • It originally had the 4 liter v8, so is still a SC400, it just has a 1JZ swapped into it. Saying that it isn't a SC400 because it has a different motor now, is like saying a swapped 240sx is a 180sx/silvia because someone put a CA/SR in it.

  • I am not trying to be a dick btw.

  • toyota and lexus are the same company

  • Strait Exhaust gives you so much hp.

  • dude, did you fuckin fart at 0:13 ?

  • haha u funny

  • Actually I hit the camera on the underside of the car.. sounds pretty good though.. ahhhh... :)

  • that sounds mad sexy

  • thats sounds amazing. are flowmaster outlaws single chamber?

  • Yes

  • i jst got my flomaster series 40 with straight pipe got pulled over in 1 hour hahaha so i had to re do everything ....

  • so hottt

  • sounds beautiful

  • Yea bro can you make another vid from in side the car...omg wat sweet sound

  • Nice sound! :)

  • great choice, you cant go with with flowy.. & the dual look too

  • should of gone wit a single.

nice exhaust tho i love the sound of the 1/2 jz's

  • nah man....the twins add to the effect believe me. and its a lexus. you dont need one BIGG ASS muffler coming out the back. thats a dead give away im packin more heat than normal. fits flush, id say job well done by previous owner. id buy any car he sold because of how well he took car of my current baby. dude is the shit!!! thanks gadget

  • Thanks man! How's Lexi doin? Treating you good I hope.

  • All I really want to know is where you got that Thunderbolt high flow cat from, and how much. THANX

  • Another question is where did you get the Thunderbolt high flow cat???

  • Uh, I cannot remember.. I am in the smoky mnts in TN right now, I should be able to look it up when I get back..

  • man that sounds SICK!!! where did you get that exhaust from??? is that a straight pipe all the way???

  • No, it actually has exhaust, all 3", american outlaws from flowmaster (not really mufflers, more like glasspacks)..

  • he told me a custom shop down near temple texas did all the work. i love to here the burble when i cruisin round town.

  • It was a shop in Waco actually. Graves custom muffler shop. He does most of the higher end work.

  • found a BORLA EXHAUST COMPLETE that retails for 1000 dollars and bought it for 25 bucks at a junkyard that never heard of it. he he hee....time to remove the good old flowmasters but they have a new home one an 07 mustang here soon!!

  • you need to make some more vids that thing is badass!

  • Thanks! I sold the lex a couple of months back. It is even badder now. A fellow gte fan bought it in the Denton area.

  • i will make sure the cars lineage does continue to do well. its been put a way for a while, wheel studs broke on front wheel on the highway but i saved it from any futher damage. driving it now should see it around town.

  • Really?? Which front wheel? the Passenger side? I hope it didn't hurt anything, thats awful! I am glad you got her going again!

  • hey we raced at hooters i had the dark red foxbody haha nice sleeper

  • sorry bro!!! right car wrong OWNER!!! ha ha, i bought the SC from him a few months back!!! names skyline18 on most forums and here its freestyleskyline!! later

  • imo, i think a big single exhaust would look nice

  • Sounds nice but I live in NYC and I think the cops here would give tickets up the ass for those outlaws...Also, sounded like the car farted when he turned the ignition off ...lmao

  • thats sounds awesome

  • haha. that'd be such a bad ass 4dr to put arround in late at night. bet it picks on american muscle pretty good

  • 4 dr?

  • Its a 2dr.

  • i just got a ticket bout an hour ago for having these mufflers on my truck lol

  • Sounds great, man! Stay out of trouble with her ;)

  • Thanks for the comment. No tickets yet.. :)

  • Sounds very nice bro, I bet your neighbors hate you =]

  • Thanks man, check out the driveby vid, it sounds a lot better under load. Fortunately I don't have any close neighors.. hehe

  • Sweet SC, sounds nice, like the black mesh wheels.

  • Thanks!

  • Well, I tell you what, when I had just a 3" downpipe, no cats and the factory exhaust (very constrictive), I was getting 27mpg and still running 308rwhp. So there is hope if you get one with the 1jzgte. Good luck with the find.

  • dude that is freakin sweet, i want one of these as my first car :). hows the mileage on one of these?

  • Well, milage is about 21-22mpg. This one is for sale. $7900. 254-405-4982 if you are intested.

  • thanks for the reply.

id buy but im australian, plus they sell kinda cheap here. just wanted to know fuel usage tho, cos prices here are ridiculous

  • i wanna hear that thing driving by, sounds great mate

  • There is a driveby in my other vids. Check it out.. Search: 1992 SC400 1JZ-GTE Twin Turbo Swap Flowmaster Outlaw 3"

  • hi mate i smashed my v8 soarer from the front and i have a twin turbo soarer thats smashed from the back would you think it would be an easy conversion and what additional things would i need etc wiring looms thanks mate

  • No, it should be really easy. You will have to replace the ECUs, but they should all have the same connectors.

  • damn man... the v8 was a nice engine!!!

  • sounds great!

  • nice car, but they forget to convert the 'register plaque' - 771 VHS - to something like 771 DVD or 771 Blueray.... :)

    by the way great car...

  • I have a soarer... it's the same thing but with right hand drive

  • how much was it?? im buyin 1 tomoro

  • Well, it depends, the body was cheap, I paid for the conversion.. it was over $8000 for the conversion and the upgrades.

  • sound really nice thinking about something similar for a 2j sc300

  • whats the diffrents between a 1jz and a 2jz

  • 1jz is 2.5 liters, and the 2jz is 3.0 liters. 1Jz-gte from the factory is 280HP, 2jzgte, I believe, is 310hp from the factory. check out the wikipedia on the specs.

  • What is the difference between the inline 6 you installed versus the I6 in the SC300? Also, why start this with a SC400 and go to an inline 6? I'm thinking about getting an SC and would really appreciate any thoughts...

  • The SC400 and SC300 bodies are very close to the same. The SC400 body is usually a little less than a SC300 body. Good luck!

  • very nice. Love the sound. take good care of her and keep that sleeper look!!!

  • Thanks! I appreciate the comment. Yeah, actually I am going to have to sell her. My wife says I have too many cars. Oh well. Looking for about $7500.

  • sounds good, i wanna put a flowmaster on my hyaundai but i dont know how much it cost

  • The exhaust was $184 for the 2 flowmaster outlaws and the Thunderbolt high flow cat 3"-5"-3". The install was $250. So about $434 plus tax. Your should be cheaper with the 2.5" exhaust... Just use one muffler and dual it out, it costs less.

  • For the amount of money you probably spent on the engine swap, you might as well have added a few simple mods your original V8 like a dragon TC, piggy-back ECU, and improved exhaust. Those three mods alone could easily drop your 0-60 time to under 6 seconds. The original factory setup was very restrictive. People underestimate the potential of the 1UZ-FE.

  • is ur car stick, cuz i noticed ur left foot was out of the car when u started it, but i guess u could still start a manual car with one foot, either way that sounds beautiful!

  • love the exhaust setup man, would love to hear some of it driving if you ever have time..

  • Well, I have wanted to do just that. Just haven't had the time. I will hopefully post it up here as soon as I get it filmed. I have had more comments on how it sounds when at WOT then any other exhaust system. It is almost too loud inside the car.

  • Take away your turbochargers and you wont be making any where near the power of the original V8. Why does everyone compare forced induction engines to naturally aspirated engines???

  • Well, I guess because of the enoromous amount of horsepower you can make with little engine build up. They also get a lot better milage than a V8 gets.

  • Off the bat I DO NOT wanna start a controversy here or a fight or argument! lol but dude the v8 makes 22mpg avg , dont get me wrong i love both engines , but I still think the v8 has more potential and it is under estimated, did u know it can hold up to around 1100 hp on stock internals on an aluminum block? beats the hell out of any american V8 if you ask me xD

  • Well, personally I like V8s too. But... here is the deal.. The original V8 kinda died. So.. That is why I put the I6. I have always liked turbos.. a lot. So that is why the swap, it was conveinent, fast, and *was* getting over 26mpg. :O)

  • lol, "kinda died" haha, yeah man, actually thats how i bought my 400, with a dead one too im actually swapping it out as you read this =P , the guy was 17 yrs old never took care of it, the radiator hose looks like a popcorn bag after 30 minutes lol xD , new one has 132k miles and the inside looks like honey. Love the sound of ures tho!, theses two are my all time fave engines, all hail Toyota lol, So whats the story behind your v8's death? xD

  • I actually bought it that way. I think it was a blown head gasket. It actually has a salvage/bonded title. The original owner couldn't find it. Thankfully the builder "Snap Performance, Denton, TX" was the original bonder. So if anything happens, he will be responsible. I have always wanted a turbo toyota (escpecially supra) but could never afford one. So this was my "Supra fix". And is so funny, everybody is really surprised when they see how fast it is. Only 2.5liters! lol

  • Yea man those things are great!, the best 6 cyl yet if you ask me, and yea this is my own little "supra" as well , and i really wanna get a gt47-80 for the v8 but i doubt its gonna fit anywhere so i think a t70 will do just fine between the pulleys and the radiator, and ill have to replace the fan with low profile electric fans, but dude i want that exhaust on mine lol

  • V8 1UZ, cannot handle 1100hp on stock internals, I think you are mistaking it for a 2jz-gte. Read up on the 1UZ.

  • yea this is an old comment man , and no i wasnt mistaken by the engine but by the hp, thing is i read up in different places and one said 1100hp internals fail, but yea realistically they should hold 850-900, btw 2jz are sweet =D

  • Turbos make "free" horsepower by increasing thermal efficiency. And if you tune your induction/exhaust/wastegate system correctly, they can provide the same amount of torque off idle as an engine of twice the displacement on 3/4 the gas.

  • my exhaust will only be a single cannon. is the power gains noticeable? the stock exhaust on mine sounds real restrictive and high pitched.... kind of embarrassing

  • That was the same thing I hated about mine! It sounded terribly unpowerful! Supposedly the 3" exhaust will give you a gain of 20hp. I have lost tremedous milage. I was getting at least 26mpg+ with the factory exhaust+3" down pipe(heavy on the trottle). Now I get 22mpg being really easy on it! Fusterating! Not sure about the dump pipe, I will look into it. Do a search for club lexus on google, and ask OLT about the exhaust. He is a brain!

  • im going to get a full exhaust like yours straight from the turbos and fully customising the whole system except for the hi flo cat. I live in Australia and just wondering whether this would be the best option or should i customise the piping from the turbos to the cat and then bolt on the cat back hks system instead. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also what is the difference between a down pipe and a dump pipe? Cheers mate keep up the good work.

  • are turbos still stock? do you have front mount intercooler? sorry for asking if you had dump pipes in the previous comment.

  • The cat is a thunderbolt high flow cat. Yep still on stock turbos, and no fmic. I wouldn't mind getting one, but I have spent my budget already. Still have to install the AVC-R Boost controller and the wideband. I haven't dyno'd it since the cat install, but I was hoping it hasn't lost any power. When I got it, it had the 3" downpipe and no cat. It was still going into the stock exhaust just in front of the rear wheels.

  • what cat have you used and did you get dump pipes? are you still running stock turbos? love to find out

  • it doesnt sound like the V8.

  • It isn't a V8, it is a Toyota 1JZ-GTE Inline 6 cylinder twin turbo conversion. It is a 2.5L Inline 6 twin turbo dyno'd 308rwhp, 289rwtq. Much more powerful than the V8. The V8 was pulled and converted to the 6. The 1990-1993.5 turbo Supra used this engine, and the Toyota Soarer. Quite a few more Toyota cars used the 1jzgte. It gets much better milage, and puts more hp to the wheels than the V8. Look at the "About this Video" section.

  • Oh, yeah.. I am thegadget from CL :)
