There is no doubt that he has a very pleasant voice. I personally feel that his style is too simple. strumming in either quarter notes, or a single note melody. He also (for the most part) uses the basic triad of every chord, instead of really capturing the detail intended with minor 7ths, major 7ths, diminished 7ths etc. Without outlining every chord properly, he loses its texture, and it feels rather basic. I don't see him having a vast musical knowledge.

It is like in all art, not just music: simplicity sometimes can be extremely powerful and stunning. I think Jason Mraz is a very great master of that form of art. And therefore, I should say, he does have a vast musical knowledge in his own way.

I respect his right to have his own style, whether simple or not. I personally do not enjoy his music because honestly, anyone can write it. He usually writes his music simply, and the only thing that sets him apart from others is his clean voice. Even when covering this song, he dumbs down the chords and rhythm. I don't doubt that it is catchy to some people, but within a community of musicians, he is not one who has envied skill as a songwriter.

@Tommydudez Hey man no worries, it's a common mistake because it has such a full, deeper sound. Although the uploader of this vid (as well as many others) believe this to be a cuatro, I would actually argue it to be a baritone or maybe tenor ukulele. More so baritone ukulele though. The reason why is because this is an Andy Powers ukulele and according to their website, they don't manufacture cuatros, only ukuleles.
