hello, I am deaf also and i became muslim and i dont care what other ppls saying bad about allah they dont uddy I went to turkey i see all the mosque and 5 time prayer its good for them beleiev the allah and they are NOT terriost as they think..I became muslim and change my lifes and i am now a much better person and i thankfully allah for his guidance and his support too. I appreciate your ethusiasm for religion. If you analyze more about the Muslim faith you will find that many Muslims don't support Sign Language or Deafness. For example... I have a friend who is a Christian. Her husband was Muslim. He tied her to a bed and held a knife to her throat and told her "If you don't stop interpreting for those 'Deaf Animals', I will kill you." Religion of peace which supports the Deaf? I can't agree.

I find it fascinating to watch the language 'signing'. I've a suggestion; Perhaps a 'type-text' of the what is being signed in this video. Hence can understand better, share info and indirectly learn the sign language (the british-english handsign or american-english handsign language). Peace

You make me want to learn sign language! I guess it's a shame that we don't have to learn it in schools. It should be mandatory, like French (in Canada) or something, but I bet it's way easier to learn. Anyways, I hope you have found the best sign for Muslim.

As a person who doesn't even know sign language, forgive me please if making a suggestion sounds completely retarded, but if I were to "make up" a sign for Muslim, I would just hold up my hand palm flat facing front, all fingers standing up straight (resembles to me the standing posture in Salat, pinky and thumb representing the hands raised for Allahu Akbar), and then folding the hand down into the M symbol - both representing M for Muslim and dualing as a symbolic gesture for the prostration.

Hey I like the first sign of Muslim when you tap your chin then your forehead. But can you do it without the M? Instead of drawing your thumb in to create the letter M, let it stick out. Since that is "hearing made", signs names do not have start with the beginning of the letter like hearing people try to force upon us. Sign language belongs to Deaf People. Please consider it.

Hello and thank you for your concern. This sign was shown to me from numerous deaf, so I adopted it linguistically that way. If this is raising enough concern in my blog, I'll change to the Dutch sign.

I understand that these signs were suggested by the deaf community. We still have the habit of using basic rules of sign language created the hearing people who first wrote the sign language book years ago. We are trying to educate ourselves and change a few things, which is a very new and hard motion we are going through.

Another idea for creating a sign for muslim is you may ask a true deaf muslim IN their country what their sign is?

In arabic we kinda shake a cresent (like a C with just thumb and indexfinger) at the level of the cheek (not touching the face though) "Islaam" is a bit like it (like an arabib "daal") moving around from at about your chin to the nose at the end the index finger touches the side of the nose. Hello and thank you for viewing! In the Arabic language, the word "Allah" is the word for "God". It is not a different God than the Christian or Jewish. If you are an Arabic speaking Christian, you would say Allah as well. I have chosen the sign God here to inform that it is the same word.
