Chucho is the strong but gentle giant on the piano. I sat a few feet away from him while he jammed on the piano at the Jazz Showcase after the Jazzfest in Chicago back in 2000. Wow, I was never so impressed by the strength of this jazz pianist! He tamed that piano!

The "Straight Ahead" Album is one of my most prized possesions! Not only for the music, but I also have it autographed by both Chucho AND Arturo!!! My life will not be complete until I have a dvd of this whole concert. And it even sounds great too!!!!!

Lo vi en documental sobre cuba . . . cuando fidel (con minusculas) entro a la habana triunfante dijo que en la isla solo se deberia tocar la musica de cuba . . . que los demas ritmos que se tocaban en los casino y hoteles de la isla era una aberracion del imperialismo incluido el jazz por suspuesto . . .de ahi emigran a USA lo mejores Jazzistas de cuba . . .

Decir k el jazz es imperialista si suena contradictorio vieniendo de Fidel Castro, especialmente si consideramos el NUEVO talento jazzistico que sigue saliendo de esa isla, asi k hasta k alguien no nos muestre ese video de Fidel diciendo eso aqui en youtube, les sugiero que pongamos eso k dicen y escriben los demas en perspectiva y disfrutemos de un Harold Lopez-Nussa, Rolando Luna, Roy Brown, Roberto Carcases, Aldo Lopez-Gavilan, etc, todos ellos verdaderos genios del jazz.
