I saw this intervie when it first came out and to me what it showed was when you come right down to it, Gates is nothing but salesman. That`s all he is. The most successful salesman in history, but a salesman none the less. If he never got into computers he`d be selling used cars and making a fortune at it.

Kind of let down by Gates. Think he needs to recognize the significance of wealth in real terms. I mean, this guy could employ a city for a year to just sit and watch TV and still come out all right. Yes- he is leagues ahead of most of us at analyzing. But like most brilliant people, his ability to read others and match a tone or mood is staggeringly poor: when he needs to connect with people it is always patchy and stiff. Person to person interaction is a really difficult area for him, and it comes across well here.

It is good to see Google obtain some competition from a company that has the size and resources to be considered a player. Online searching is clearly the largest market in terms of webspace open for advertisements. Even if Microsoft in the end is not successful they will at least help the technology advance at a faster pace. While most hooting fools online just see the word Gates and begin to talk garbage most might try to see what he is saying is very truthful.

Gates is now just a figurehead, the "public face" of the otherwise faceless Microsoft (unless you count that nutcase Ballmer). Gates has read nothing but stock prices for the past 20 years and probably couldn't even understand a quarter of the coding that's being done today at Google.

This guy has massive Google Envy. Search today is "TERRIBLE"? lol. There are millions of people who, for both personal and professional reasons, would say that search is TOO good in providing you with more information than you ever expect, every time, and it's very helpful and very useful. Gates wants to limit, censor, and control that flow of information--and Microsoft's efforts at pushing fake grassroots campaigns were exposed in 2001 (see the links in the Wikipedia article on "Astroturfing").

Well, Gates is making absolute sense here. He is not denying Google or search engines in general are not helping people. He is saying, search as a science is in its infancy.

Computers were helping people 20 years back as well but look at where we've reached now. Bill is the same genius who was talking about a computer in every home back in 1975 and people ridiculed him.

On the contrary Charles Duell in 1899 said, whatever that can be invented has been invented, you are talking like him.
