Awesome song And Props To Robin Lerose At CFMI...better Known As "Rock 101 CFMI" For Playing From time to time And Re-Educating Us the Roots Of Vancouver's REAL...Rock ,On The "Electric Lunch" and if i can also Say TY To Little known Community T.V. Program Out Here on the "Best Coast" "Rockinitis"!!Lovin' The rare Tracks you Guys Find And How EQAUL You guys Play the Field So to speak.Grats!
This song reminds me of 1968....their other hit, which was the one I liked better, called "Looking at a Baby", hit the Top 40 here in Vancouver in 1967. I knew they were Canadian but I can't remember hearing of them a local band. Guess Who are another Cdn. band from this era. Now the Stampeders who had many hits in the early 70's hailed from Calgary, that I know. I see the Beach Towers on Beach avenue & Grouse Mt. in behind. @1:18 are they at Doggy Beach nearby Kitsilano Park. Thx4 postin'
It's always a hoot to see shots of Vancouver in the 1960's. I think one of the shots is in front of the oddly-shaped apartment block just off the south-west end of the Burrard street bridge.
I agree! Definately a few less buildings back then too. Bill Henderson and his wife May have lived on our island for years now. They are super nice people and I often chat with him when he's in town.
This is absolutely priceless! As a Collectors/Chilliwack fan for going on 40 years, this was thrilling as I had never seen it before. Thank you very much!
yes great band from that era.........awesome songs! and yes they became the band Chilliwack. In this video you can see Vancouvers planetarium in the forground in one scene.
They're a forgotten corner of the psychedelic movement, but I've always loved this band. Found their 2 albums ("The Collectors" and "Grass & Wild Strawberries") on CD recently, so they are still available. "Lydia Purple" is the only song on these albums that they didn't write and didn't really want to record. Their producer made them. Their other stuff is even better, believe it or not.
Howie Vickers (lead singer) left the band. Guitarist Bill Henderson took over lead vocals. Band changed name to Chilliwack. Fabulous Canadian band... should have got a lot more recognition than they did. Check out a great Collectors album, "Grass and Wild Strawberries." One of my favorites from that age...
Is the song about a woman who went insane?

This tune is just too good. The Collectors are very underrated and underknown.

I LOVE THIS BAND
Saw them in Edmonton in 1968.....Blew me away. My best bud had the LP and we would trip for hours on it.
I now have the LP & bought the CD on Ebay.
They became Chilliwack with Bill Henderson being the lead.
I also had the 8 track of their 2nd album. not nearly as well put together.
They do remain one of the best 60's bands from anywhere.
