  • after 2:55 it's: because my life, because my joy, today... will begin with you.

  • @Z0oidberg dude, please... "because my life" and "for my life" are exactly the same thing. But if you're that picky, translate your own version and upload it. Thanks.

  • la voz mas hermosa de este planeta!!!

  • brilliant...........just love it....thank you

  • @amleeiv my pleasure! :-)

  • This is really good! Although, just 'une petit chose', when she sings 'Aujord'hui', doesn't that mean 'today'? Just a thought, this video is really well done anyway!

  • @MrWingedDeath you see... "today" and "on this day" are not the same thing? I guess I could even argue that "today" can have a more vague meaning, as in "now a days", and that the same can't be said about "on this day". See my point?

  • @randomcrapist Yes, I see your point, thanks for explaining, I was just wondering. :)

  • i am in a trance when i listen to this ......

  • @elFaZeD me too man

  • magic, just magic. love this - from the tip of Africa.

  • Edith's only home could happen only the stage, all other places were just for illusion & destruction appeared throughout her life....... thank you for sharing!

  • Excellent video, beatifull song, a song forever.

  • Absolutely stupendous editing and translation work! Enjoyed every frame. Wanting to sing it in front of an audience that neither knew the song, nor spoke French, I came up with my own singable lyrics. There are some spots where it was necessary to stray a bit from the original, but I tried to stay as true as I could.

I've proposed it as a video reply to your (yes it is!) masterpiece. I hope you enjoy it as well.

  • @Matthudson2 oh, this was so nice to read! thanks a lot for your comment and video reply! all the best!

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!

  • INCEPTION

  • They better play this song at my funeral. I'm sure it won't happen for a long time, but what a send off...... The woman captures the idea of legacy. This wild boy just tipped his hat and shed a tear.

  • @Servodude1

I did too. I discovered Piaf 40 plus years ago.

When someone 'sings' your heart, as does Piaf, you're not alone.

She understands, She is one of 'us'.

  • My father introduced me to Piaf when I was a child. He adored her, and I grew up loving her to. They called her "little sparrow" and I was once known as that by patients in the hospital I trained at !!!! I feel conected to her and prefer this to My way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have waited a long time for English lyrics, so thank you very much. A wonderful tribute to a brilliantly powerful singer.

  • @sparrowflyinghigh thanks a lot for your comment! really kind words! all the best for you and keep up the good work!

  • 9 people have no heart

  • Merci beaucoup !!!!!!!!!!

  • @007lucertola my pleasure! :-)

  • Very good video and I very much enjoyed the English sub-titles.

  • @dukewheatly aww, thank you! really appreciate your kind words!

  • @viksonav man, I think I am just not smart enough to understand all you wrote in spanish. but feel free to write again, perhaps I will be smarter next time around :-)

  • @geiser15610 it's been a pleasure! thanks for the comment!

  • what does she say before she starts the song? is it something about not having regret? or is she naming the song?

  • @geweher1 She is just introducing the song she's about to sing.

  • thank you mostafany1uwk I regret nothing in my life either

  • just LOVE MISS E P

  • @JermimaSweet I'll make sure she gets the message :P

  • @viksonav fine, don't watch it again douche.

  • I started today with The Move, which lead me to ELO with led me to Grieg, which led me to the theme from 2001 space odyssey which brought me to this wonderful woman, music is quite amazing, the paths it takes us down, just thought i would share that

  • @psh4257 oh man, dont you just love when that happens?

  • Listening to this and now knowing what the words say, I think this was totally ripped off by Sinatra in "My Way"

  • @asdfghjklkjhgfdsa555 Yes, pretty much!

  • @asdfghjklkjhgfdsa555 totally agree!

  • @randomcrapist I later researched "my way" was written by a Frenchy too.

  • @asdfghjklkjhgfdsa555 ..It couldn't possibly be a rip off, this song was written on 1956 and sinatras on 1969...and Sinatras song is base on a french song "Comme d'habitude" composed in 1967 ...Sorry do your research...;-) Edith Piaf <3

  • @MDmariel Re-read what I wrote. I said sinatra ripped not edith. So your dates back up what I said. I later foubd out he didnt write it, but a frenchman did.

  • @asdfghjklkjhgfdsa555 ...not to mention that this song was written and released in 1957 an "my way" was written and released in 1969. How could it be a rip off when "No regrets" was written first? Furthermore, when the concepts lyrically are totally different?

  • ooops. I totally agree too!

  • @asdfghjklkjhgfdsa555: Actually, there is very little comparison between "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien" and "My Way," other than they are both French songs. If anything, "Non, Je Regrette Rien" is a much more interesting song, but "My Way" has always beenfar more popular..

The original title to "My Way" is "Comme d'Habitude" (As Usual, or As Always), and it was popularized by the late Claude Francois. Paul Anka later gave it the English lyric, and Frank Sinatra popularized it in 1969.

  • heard this first in Inception and then heard it again the other day and had to find it

  • @missloivissaflower hope you liked it! :-)

  • I cannot get enough of this video, well done x l love Edith Giovannia Gassion xx

  • I finally found that great song from Inception; and this is the best video of it on YT. The sound quality is high, and the video editing is good too.

I've replayed this a few dozen times in the past two days and I still haven't had enough.

The sound, the words, the woman, even the care that went into cutting this montage together; it's all just so deeply beautiful.

  • @Hawkinsonian thank you sir, for stopping buy and leaving such a cool comment!

  • inception actually brought me here,it is a shame i did not listened to it before even i knew its existence(from babe the movie,i was some 7 or 8 years and i still remembered this song )

  • @jesusgerardoGM it is a memorable song!

  • Random: Ty so much to post such master piece....beautiful job.....praise Piaf is the least we can do to honor her memory and her talent.....In days that we live now with lady gagas, beyonce, amy, bieber, rick martin we feel sorry for talents like Piaf are not anymore with us......lie....she will be always with us!!!

  • @masefu0 there is, indeed, such a thing as undeserved success... but there are talents around too. some troubled ones, like amy winehouse, some just plain awesome, like adele. in any case, thank your for your comment and stopping by! :-)

  • Hearing this...Edith's voice manner and performance targets at the very soul. She's a Godess of music.

  • @randomcrapist: ooo but dont get upset I am learning here is the beauty of our world that we speak different languages with different meaning, translations and interpretations.

thanks for sharing such a beautiful song with us.

Spanish is my first language english my second and currently learning American Sign Language.

    Greetings from Downey California

  • @aqstoy: sup, California! hope you enjoy studying French too :-P Cheers!

  • @thelordrashed Why would Pink be perfect? I dont get it

  • @aqstoy: are you asking me that?

  • @aqstoy in the same way as blue means sad I would imagine maybe????

  • @thelordrashed Thanks for the insight. Another observation made to me was that the title could have been translated as La Vida de una Rosa or the life of a rose.

So to me all opinions make sense maybe thats why when they distributed the movie in the USA the name was not change. hmmmmm

I am not a dude but just because I am a woman doesnt mean I have to like PINK thats exactly why I hate pink .

  • @aqstoy: alright, alright, you've guys won! I will remove the error in the description of the video regarding the name of the movie.
