@Z0oidberg dude, please... "because my life" and "for my life" are exactly the same thing. But if you're that picky, translate your own version and upload it. Thanks.
This is really good! Although, just 'une petit chose', when she sings 'Aujord'hui', doesn't that mean 'today'? Just a thought, this video is really well done anyway!
@MrWingedDeath you see... "today" and "on this day" are not the same thing? I guess I could even argue that "today" can have a more vague meaning, as in "now a days", and that the same can't be said about "on this day". See my point?
Edith's only home could happen only the stage, all other places were just for illusion & destruction appeared throughout her life....... thank you for sharing!
Absolutely stupendous editing and translation work! Enjoyed every frame. Wanting to sing it in front of an audience that neither knew the song, nor spoke French, I came up with my own singable lyrics. There are some spots where it was necessary to stray a bit from the original, but I tried to stay as true as I could.
I've proposed it as a video reply to your (yes it is!) masterpiece. I hope you enjoy it as well.
great work you did here. i'm so glad i discovered this woman's music in my 20's. 47 yrs old & i still start everyday at zero. it renews my soul & apprecation for being in the world. thank you ms. piaf.
@luke8250 at the time I really did have a lot of time in my hands. certainly not the case anymore, as you can judge by the delay in replying to your message. :-) Thanks!
really love this song and the other one by Sinatra but i like this better for some reasong !!! :) <3 <3 i always wanna cry or just smile like heaven music !
They better play this song at my funeral. I'm sure it won't happen for a long time, but what a send off...... The woman captures the idea of legacy. This wild boy just tipped his hat and shed a tear.
My father introduced me to Piaf when I was a child. He adored her, and I grew up loving her to. They called her "little sparrow" and I was once known as that by patients in the hospital I trained at !!!! I feel conected to her and prefer this to My way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have waited a long time for English lyrics, so thank you very much. A wonderful tribute to a brilliantly powerful singer.

I'm reminded of this poem by Rumi:
The way of love is not a subtle argument.
The door there is devastation.
Birds make great sky-circles of their freedom.
How do they learn it?
They fall, and falling, they're given wings.
_
The same depth and quality to the meaning of love is present here.
If this song wasn't on the Voyager spacecraft, it should have been.
This is humanity at it's very finest.
