  • I love ye guys!!:D

  • COOL GRANDPA

  • ......why have I JUST found this? lol

  • you two rocks! keep the spirit and love!

  • Did I just hear two old people say the phrase "Pussy Ranch?" OMG! I love this couple!!!!

  • Juno is a fantastic movie. I like these two btw!

  • these 2 are great... good reviewers as well. glad to see movie goers looking into the meaning and cultural significance of films.

  • "back in my day, they would stone a girl for having premarital sex"

  • I Love Juno!

  • LOL

    "since we're GEEZERS..."

  • You guys are so funny! I want to be just like you when I'm older (right now I'm in highschool)

  • lol these two are great.

  • JUNO ia the best movie ever

  • no superbad is better

  • they both suck

  • i love the man(: he carcks me upp

  • Movie was definitely stylized - a stylized look and the quips. But the acting was heartfelt, and the characters themselves felt real. If you didn't feel any emotion in a few of the scenes, it wasn't the movie, it was you.

  • "you would cry over a supermarket opening"

    rofl

  • I love ghost world too!

    you guy's are hilarious!

  • On your recommendation rented this movie today

and am bitterly dissapointed(I enjoy your reviews and find myself in agreement most of the time). But not this time!Ifind this movie superficial, manipulative and trying very hard

to be hip.The most annoying thing about it was

the soundtrack,Iam sure it will sell more than

all Beethoven piano sonatas put together,but...

  • Manipulative?

Obviously you didn't understand the film if you came to that assumption.

  • oh my god, i just saw an episode of batman written by lorenzo which had such absurdities as batman painting fingerprints, the dynamic duo using a plexiglass "bat shield" to defend against enemy fire, and villains with the names octopus and shark

  • i would enjoy the movie if the dialoge sounded more realistic. every line was sarcastic and it sounded like some mom trying 2 sound cool but fails. i couldnt stand it. But i was expecting a bad movie before i went in so tht might be one reason i hated it so much. also everyone loves the soundtrack i only remember tht first song during the opening credits and i thought tht was bad.

  • the only thing i thought was well done was the acting

  • juno was god awful. it was too sarcastic, and had nothing real, there was no emotion or heart in any of this.

  • Juno had well developed characters, but not much else, in my opinion. Thoroughly enjoyed it though.

  • I love this movie... I think what realllly helps Juno is not only the blunt honesty of teen pregnancy and some great insight on how it's handled these days, but the soundtrack is OUTSTANDING... I can listen to it all day (and have on several occasions).

I agree with you guys completely.

  • You two are ADORABLE!!!

  • Just heard about you guys on the BBC this morning. great stuff!

  • I love you guys!

  • you guys are awesome.

  • "You would cry at a supermarket opening!"

Ever so delightfully abrasive Marcia. ; )

    Keep it up geezers!!

  • Why? Because of the perfect casted characters? or is it the great dialogue? Srsly, Juno is a great movie, and I don't see how you could not like it, I will listen to you and see your points cause I really want to know why you think its trash...

  • You guys rock keep it up

  • "that reminds me of some band", hahaha :)

  • I definitely agree with Lorenzo. I LOVED Ghost World. It was one of my favorite movies too. Great review by the way!

  • its was a great movie indeed.

  • wow you are awesome!

even though you are old. you act like young people. i think its really cool!

  • I adored Juno. Saw it for the first time on Friday, actually. I love the character for two reasons:

    1) That hamburger phone!

    2) She loves The Stooges , The Runaways and fucking Patti Smith! How incredible! Plus , she's right about Sonic Youth being shit.

Best lines: "I'm a cautionary whale" and " Honest to Blog?"

    lolol ;)

    "It's got fingernails?"

    :)

  • my fave is "WHOA!!!! DREAM BIG!!!"

  • The whole damn thing is just a sublime quote-fest.

    "maybe it's a food baby"?

    McGuff the crime-dog..;)

  • "ThunderCats are Goooo!!"

  • Holy shit she's 20?

I thought she was about 15 hahaha.

  • I love how they refer to themselves as geezers. that is such a funny word.

i dont judge you guys by your age. you guys are still young at heart and always will be..remain hip, geezers!

  • HOLY SHIT! His favorite movie is Ghost World?! Love it. Absolutely.

  • Wow, you guys are some of the best, well-spoken critics I've ever seen!

By the way...my roommate/great aunt is 84, and she's a lot like the both of you: still full of piss and vinegar when need be, but smart and funny and sharp as a tack. The world needs more seniors like you.

  • u guys rock!

  • these geezers are hip !! :)

    "REPLACEMANT" hip lol hahahah

BTW im like 50 years younger than these guys and i AGREE

the references came TOO TOO fast

  • Just head about you guys in Wired magazine and I thought I'd check it out. Your reviews are great, they actually provide more insight than the stuffy Ebert and Roeper. You guys are great.

  • I love that Marcia called the "pro-life" people "anti-choice." You are a hip, smart old broad. And I love that Lorenzo's favorite movie is Ghost World...Can I adopt you two as my grandparents?

  • lol so then the sides would be "anti-choice" and "anti-life"

  • these guys are hip for being old !

    yeah, "REPLACEMENT" hip hahahah lol

  • You guys make my day whenever I watch you! Thanks for another great review!

  • You guys got a new subscriber! You are so much better than that Roeper fellow on TV! You should publish a book of your critiques!

  • That was lovely, and I loved the movie too. I thought the soundtrack was very much in keeping with the story as well.

You guys are very good and witty. Keep it up.

  • These guys are pretty hip for two geezers.

  • I AM IN LOVE WITH YOUR CUTENESS!

Nice review, I loved the movie too.

    Hugs from Portugal

  • Compared to alot of movies this one was pretty good. I thought the adoptive mother started out as a perfectionest witch and then she seemed to have a character change into someone likeable. And the two of them seeemed to warm up to divorce rather quickly. kids rule adults don't they? I couldn't imagin running up the stairs pass a friend's mother and closing the door. And a father who is so understanding? And a few scenes with bitchy HS girls was needed. what school has so little peer pressure.

  • Oh, Lorenzo. What a cool teacher, and what a cool writer.

  • Good, cool video.

  • Juno was great!

  • juno is the best movie ive ever seen, well juno and superbad. i love michael cera, he is so sexy!

  • cant forget supertroupers lol

  • u guys rule

  • u guys r sooo awesome

  • You go Lorenzo!

  • The screen writing for the movie was nothing like how real teenagers speak. I'm sorry, but the dialogue was awful for the movie. It was like watching the Gilmore Girls.

  • It's an extreme, but there is a very limited group of teens who do speak at full capacity. I thought it was refreshing to hear someone present herself has intelligent and intriguing as opposed to listening to dialogue that could be written by anyone in a highschool setting.

If I wanted to hear "sup" and "lyk omg" all day, I wouldn't invest in iPods.

  • I personally talk like that, and just because you don't talk like the way they do in the movie or your peers talk the way they do, don't base your views around that.

  • i loved juno!

  • Hotties with the bodies.

  • but is she to mature for the role she is supposed to play in this movie?

  • I would say yes.

  • Oh my gosh! Ho loves Ghost World! I am in love with this old man for loving that movie!

  • You guys rock so much! I love all your movies!

  • i thought it was a GREAT movie you go u..... "gezzers"

  • lorenzo i luv how you can so utterly feel a moment. you have the soul of a philosopher/poet. poor marcia is not really moved by it because the 'feel' cannot make its way through her adult armor to her hidden child (soul). as henry james said "the people at the top of the social ladder are different from the rest. and it is not a matter of money but one of perception."

  • i had similiar thoughts on the film! ..And i very much enjoyed this vid. you guys are great! (hehehe) "you'll cry.. at the super market"

  • I just saw Juno, a movie I would not have been interested in had I not watched your review. I'm sure that I missed many of the cultural references, but even an old bag like me couldn't miss the unvarnished grit of Juno (the movie and the character). Who knew that young and edgy could be so endearing and funny?

  • i love this! thank you for sharing!

  • Can you do more of those? You are the best!!

Why have you only reviewed one foreign picture though? It would be wonderful to hear your take on some key foreign pictures.

  • i love the reel geezers! i agree with them about it being a darling film, but i thought the first few minutes were a bit too dawson's creek, trying too hard. "honest to blog" who says that?

  • aw he loves ghost world!!! xo

  • How awesome is that?!

  • You two are fantastic...can I be your friend and see movies with you?

  • She thinks Michael Cera is "darling" . I just found that so cute, and he is very darling.

  • great review! you two are great

  • I just love you guys and your reviews. For once reviewers who are talking about a movie like real people but who also have knowledge about film making and the film industry. What a find! Please keep 'em coming. Thanks!

  • These 2 are funny as hell, and dead on

  • Videos like this are why I have the utmost respect for our elders.

    Please, keep these reviews coming.

  • We fully agree with this great review.

  • Excellent reviews, it seems we need honest people like them, they actually have experience.

  • thanks for not giving the plot away :[)

  • Thanks for the reference to Ghost World. Both are GREAT indie movies !

  • Mr and Ms Geezer, have you ever thought of reviewing any old films? I'd love to hear you talk about Bogart, Cagney, ... perhaps "Gunga Din"... that was a fun movie.

  • i think the movie makes fun if it's own hipness though. Juno's chick friend was too much though

  • the freind might have been over the top but she was great. she brought a sense of youth dorky humor, were juno all her jokes are dry and to old for her . the freind was what made me stay thru the whole idiotic movie. she carried the teenage comedy in a few scenes. the actors were all good but the story lacked

  • I still need to see Juno. >:/

  • I have just stumbled upon this video and I thought they did an excellent review of Juno.

  • you guys need to review Knocked Up. I thought it was a funny and good movie.

  • her constant trying to be "hip" attitude did piss me off... and we should bring back "square" into our vocab, its a cool word

  • I love you for loving Ghost World!

  • very charming :D

  • good movie

  • That kicks ass that he digs Ghostworld.

  • No one's said this AFAIK, but that's one very well stocked bar behind the two of them. :) Life is good. -zen

  • I wish these two would adopt me.

  • I love the moldy peaches song at the end of Juno!

I was litterally dancing in my chair.=]

  • Juno is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time

  • the best

  • coolest old people ever, and a magnificent movie.

  • Somebody get these two a show! They seem to have led interesting lives.

How about movie reviews with teens on the panel?

  • no

    no teens

  • I'm sure you can find some mindless bantering of teenager movie reviews and 5% MAY be enlightening. This is what a teenager movie review might be like: "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem" was AWESOME!

  • I dont like the alien vs. predator movies

theyre too drawn out and dramatic

  • it is rare to be able to hear intelligent opinions. i look forward to seeing more reviews. i liked the comment on oprah attached to the review for the kite runner - heart's in the right place but not intellectual.

  • "you would cry at a supermarket opening." ROFL

  • loved the film too...

  • these guys need their own TV show!

  • Hell, yeah.

  • Very good movie, i like your guys' review, I saw this movie twice, both shows on 2 seperate days we're Completely sold out, If you havn't seen this movie yet, go see it, when it hits video ill be sure to pickup a copy for myself, and my girlfriend, best movie of the year imo. (imo = in my opinion) :P

  • These reviews are amazing!

"You would cry at a supermarket opening." Brilliant chemistry.

  • You two are really good. I can't wait to hear what else you review!

  • i LOL'd when he said "squarest movie i've ever seen"

  • "that reminds me of some bad" LOL

  • These movie reviews are great!

    Keep them coming!

  • It really is a good movie!

  • Wow! I've just watched about four of your reviews and they are great. I used to run an arthouse theatre in Brookline, and I am going to tell them to use your reviews on their website. We get a lot of geezers, and I love that you are hip enough to watch and debate such a variety of films. Thanks for sharing!

  • I like Ellen Page, but every scene I've seen of this movie just makes me not want to see it. I really can't stand "precocious teens."

  • I agree. While I like Ellen Page in other movies, I found her character in Juno very artificial. Her sarcastic remarks grated on me the entire time. While I can see that partly this was on purpose in order to show a character that was still trying to find her identity by trying out many masks ("I don't know what kind of girl I am"), I did not find the journey all that enjoyable to watch. It got better towards the end, though. Don't thumbs down me! It was still an ok movie!

  • I do sort of agree with you. But what's interesting about trying on different masks or observing other's masks and trying them on the way that Cindy Sherman does in her photographic art is that one day we realize that we are none of them--and it is then that we(our bodies and our egos) are surrounded by or seen from what seems to be a distance by our other self--our real self--the self that we display' our 'gifts' with. Like what we call getting into the 'zone'. Do you know what I mean?

  • juno was so good

    they hav great reviews

  • i love the geezers and they're right about the pop culture references :: even though i'm only 20 an i got them lol

  • It was indeed a great film and I enjoyed it immensely, and was glad to see that both of you did as well!

  • these two have the best best reviews on the planet !!

  • "you would cry at a supermarket" ROFLLLL

  • You two are amazing. You have over 80 years combined experience in film and still have an open mind and fresh ideas. Congrats. An octegenarian that enjoys ghost world?! Truly amazing

  • I like your reviews, can't wait for it to come out in Aus.

    Please check out my film.

  • Great Review!

  • "You would cry at a supermarket opening."

    I cried at that line.

  • Tears of joy, I'd hope.

  • tears of laughter for me. that was funny

  • I enjoyed the insight into the difficulty translating the dialogue. I know I had to think an extra second to understand what was happening occasionally, and I am college student, thinking I was the young generation. I guess not anymore.

  • Juno was a very good movie.

  • It did not "suck", it really hit a topic hollywood is afraid to touch with such a raw aproach. Yeah the imagery of it might be a little overdone and it will ruin the moldy peaches underground status just like garden state did to the shins, but I felt it really hit a pressure point that make the masses uncomfortable. And isn't that what makes a great film these days? Long story short. The message was mind blowing, but overall it was a step down from "thank you for smoking"

  • Excellent commentary. I appreciate you being available to me on You Tube.

  • I love the man's comment about needing a young interpreter to see this movie, someone who basically just learned to talk, lol!

  • Yay....I love the Reel Geezers reviews! Insightful and very humorous, with real Hollywood knowledge to back them up. I'm now a subscriber to your videos, keep the great reviews comin'. Check out my video review of Juno (I did it before I saw yours, by the way.) I'm fly4doh and my channel is Cagey's channel. Review is called "Do You Know...'Juno'?" It's comical, with a special appearance by a certain pregnant teen at the end. I'd love feedback. Thanks all....Fly4doh aka Cagey :)

  • these geezers have REALLY good taste....and have a lot of knowledge.....good for them. definetly haven't lost their minds, YES!

  • This is the "squarest" review I did ever see. I was entertained.

  • They're wrong about the politics in juno the receptionist in the abortion clinic is a political statement

  • Loved this review--and this couple. I hope I am as articulate and in touch as they are some day. I'm also moved by the fact that they made the same connection with Ghost World that I did--I loved that movie!

  • Yeah! "Darling" does not cut it. The "Darling" that cuts it is the one with Julie Christie. Where is your re-evaluation of "After She Left"?

  • "thank you for NOT smoking" hahaha

  • I loved this movie and the review these two reviewers are amazing!

  • how ill informed you are

  • I guess you would have to see the film to find out, no? Maybe? Do you think?

  • agreed.

  • having seen the film, i don't feel the misinterpretation you describe is a concern. i guess we'll just have to disagree.
