But about your rival having the pokemon with the advantage, it isn't actually convenient because at the beginning he was watching through the window as everyone can see and he saw you pick the chikorita, so obviously he went for the cyndiquil after you left. That's how the rivals know.

I always thought that emulators were perfectly leagal, but ROMs were illegal if you didn't have the game (that's the case with GBA roms). If you have the actual game and the Rom, i thought it was OK. guess not.
