You need to spend double the money on a Spec V if you intend to properly race (for more than just a single lap). Even Nismo dump the standard VR38DETT standard V6 in their racing versions and swap it for VH45DE V8.

@wantapgt could not be any truer. they blow up here at the local track nearly every weekend. ( last month, 3 of the gtrs here did not survive 2 runs, all three went home on trailers with blown engines. they cant even get to 10,000 miles on the odometer without catastrophic failure. Just like a disposable flashlight from China.
Maybe its just me but everyone bashing on Nissan for their cars in general is extremely retarded and needs to stop eating paintchips.(pre infinity) skylines are racing inspired cars. They have a v6 powerplant that can be pushed to over 1k HP, relatively reliably too. And although I don't know this as a fact, I have this feeling if you buy a Skyline GT-R in Japan these problems wont happen as often. Japanese cars for the American populace have never been as good as the real thing.

Things tend to go wrong with cars when you race them. I don't know of a single person who can race their car on a track for a day and not have to replace something.
GT-R is fast but definitely not the most reliable car out there. Even Nissan themselves say to use launch control as little as possible because the gearbox might be damaged....
@derbigpr500 not anymore 2012 gtr's you can use launch control 3 times in a row then you cant use it until you drive a mile and if it does get damaged it is under warranty

Porsche should build all cars well with quality instead they decide to build expensive "punching bags" I still have the porsche here in 11 i beat the hell out of it with a sledge hammer. its the only thing porsche is good for!

@tmtm325 HEMIs have issues ? didn´t know that as there are a million 1300awhp SRT8 Jeeps out there used as daily drivers. secondly - it´s the cheaply built nissan gtr which has technical issues. the first ones did get recalled for instantly blowing transmissions. a 90 grand car with transmission issues haha. now the latest GTRs have engine issues once you modify em. the one in the video wasn´t "tuned" by amateurs so there was nothing wrong BUT the quality - just deal with it fanboy.

@sircivicirl Thats not quite true is it :)? A r35 GT-R needs a service every 6,000miles, a 911 Turbo every 20,000miles. the Porsche engine is much better engineered than the Nissan. You need to spend double the money on a Spec V if you intend to properly race (for more than just a single lap). Even Nismo dump the standard VR38DETT standard V6 in their racing versions and swap it for VH45DE V8.

( last month, 3 of the gtrs here did not survive 2 runs, all three went home on trailers with blown engines. they cant even get to 10,000 miles on the odometer without catastrophic failure. Just like a disposable flashlight from China.

Maybe its just me but everyone bashing on Nissan for their cars in general is extremely retarded and needs to stop eating paintchips.(pre infinity) skylines are racing inspired cars. They have a v6 powerplant that can be pushed to over 1k HP, relatively reliably too. And although I don't know this as a fact, I have this feeling if you buy a Skyline GT-R in Japan these problems wont happen as often. Japanese cars for the American populace have never been as good as the real thing.

And that come with some darwbacks, like interior cuality and maybe some other thing. I prefer Porsche, but I've seen GTRs being raced on trackdays to full extent without problems

So I bought my first ever porsche in january 2001 when spring came i took it to the track and the engine Came apart due to a simple bolt, and i could not repair the engine. The dealership said it had to be replaced, and that i should buy the 993 when i bought the 2001 996. Porsche should build all cars well with quality instead they decide to build expensive "punching bags" I still have the porsche here in 11 i beat the hell out of it with a sledge hammer. its the only thing porsche is good for!
