  • nice and try to stay up over the jump a lot of new jumpers have that problem i know i did and the pros sometimes sit back in the saddle anyways great job for first time and no trianer i am impressed ( i have been riding for 7 or so yrs) and beautiful horse

  • I know u said he jumped quite high for one of the jumps but try to lift ur hands further up the neck and lean more forward so ur prepared if he does jump highER :D

PLEASE VIEW MY CHANNEL PL3ESEEEEE <3<3<3

  • Heels down, leg back and tight against Sable, keep your reins short, and try not to bounce round as much after the jump. But u did AMAZING for pretty much teaching yourself how to ride! :)

  • my key to jumping is

    1. Arch your back

    2. look up

    3. keep your heels down

  • which song is this??? plz answer good vid btw

  • @dedebear33 Only just checked my comments now 11 months later. haha. You probably already know the song by now but if not it's Electric Feel by MGMT

  • it was really good considering you were both learning, I started off really small like that and now me and my pony Telynor ae jumping 120cm :) i've had trainers as well so well done but i do agree with cuteygirley121 you should really start with a cross pole :) xx

  • emm if its the horses first time jumping u shud do a cross pole buh very good xxx

  • thats amazing! usually ppl have to take lessons to do stuff like that. i think you will get alot more out of it because you are teaching yourself and have more determination

  • Thae jump at 2:00 was really good. You'll get better :)

  • really good :)

just 1 tip try not leaning your hands on her when your going over the jumps that will make her job easier

    well done

  • I seriously enjoyed this vid! You make riding your horse look so... fun!

  • personaly I think that was great considering that you and sable havent done that very much. how tall is sable? and is she a thorough bred?

  • @horsegirlrachael Thankyou :)

Sable is 15.3hh and is and Australian Stock horse :)

  • @HorseyLuv28 an*

  • @HorseyLuv28

    thats neat!

I do not own a horse of my own yet but my mom said that I can buy one as long as I have a part time job so I can pay for board and vet bills so I am hoping to get a horse maybe around 15 or 16. you should check out the video of me and hunter ok? he is about the size of sable and I love him to bits!

  • @horsegirlrachael Thankyou :)

That's great. I hope you get one :)

I watched the video. You two look like a great team :)

  • @HorseyLuv28

    thank you!

  • wooahh thats so good for your first time ! and for sables !!!! just a little advice these maybe shorten your reins a bit and keep your leg on more as you go into the jump and keep your heels down as well because that helps secure you if you get letf behind so you dont pull on the horses mouth , i have major issues with my legs and heels hahaha constantly getting nagged by my trainer :p jumping 1m20 with shitty heels sometimes is not fun .. haha anywayz very very nicely done !!!!

  • okay :) .

  • luv ur horse alot!!!!I want one like her.

  • @NRCridingrules4ever Thankyou :) Xxx

  • thanks i have arranged to go and see her next week and thanks for advise .

  • @showjumper445 Awesome :) Let me know how it went :)

  • i was looking on this site and i found a horse thats broken in and sounds perfect for 500 pounds and the other one was 995 pound and hasnt been trained what do i do horsey people ? . :)

  • @showjumper445 What I'd do is go see the 500 pounds one, but make sure you check if it had or has any injuries, ask if you can have a ride on it before you buy it, check it's teeth/feet, make sure it's not to old or has been abused, ask how it behaves around kids/pets, etc, etc :) I asked lots of questions before I bought Sable and it helped me make my decision :)

  • i might be getting a horse soon ( hopefully ) but she isnt broken in i dont have any clue who 2 train her any idea`s ? .

  • @showjumper445 That's so cool! :)

Well I live in a different country to you so I don't really know who could help you there. You could try asking around a pony clubs or ask horsey people you know personally. They might know of someone :)

    Best of luck :)

  • ur a good rider but like modelhorse101 said u need 2 shorten ur reins before u jump .

  • @showjumper445 Thankyou :)

I shorten my reins now too :) I've been jumping a couple time since this but with another horse. I think I'm doing a lot better now :)

  • Keep the reins short, and when you are first learning over exagerate. Once your horse is use to the jump you are doing then you teach yourself. Over exagerate and reach for his/her ears. Keep your heels down, and after every jump unless

  • make sure that you canter out of your jumps...this encourages them to look for the next jump and not just stop

  • 231ae When jumping always have a short rein, squeze towards the jump, heel down, eyes up, thumbs up, sit up straight and always be prepared for the refusal or duck out. And be in the middle of the jump

  • keep your reins super short before a jump so that when you get to the jump and move ur arms forward it wont loosen your reins. ALWAYS hit the middle of the jump, i noticed she likes to go to the left side of the jump, so when she does that, right before the next jump kick with ur left foot and pull with ur right rein. thats what my triner instructed me to do.

  • @modelhorse101 Thankyou for the advide, I'll try that :)

  • You look like as good as when I started jumping, with a trainer! Try to keep a little off her neck. Also try not to ask my trainer says, "Throw yourself over the jump", wait for the lift off to get into your two point. Looking great!

  • heya its good but try not 2 fall on his neck as it cn put his head down and make him stop in front ov jump are not pic his front legs up bt jump try and sit up iv bin there lol and shorten ya rains bt u habve done well

  • heyy i think your doing excellent with her especially without a trainer!! Just remember to keep your leg back when on the flat, heels down and eyes up over your jumps! =D i hope she goes far!

  • that was great! you actually inspired me to train my horse to jump :D i am in exactly your situation. i bet you two are doing great. keep it up!

  • Thankyou =]

I actually haven't jumped since I made this video. I fell off Sable and broke my arm. LoL. I'm planing to start jumping again next week though so I'll put a video up of that.

I wish you luck with your jumping =]

    Thanks for the comment.

  • reli good if yuu dnt have a trainer nd all

try to shorten your reins and collect him/her before the jump and shorten yur stirrups a little bit

    not being mean

but yur horse looks quite underweight ??

    very good tho

    are yuu gonna get lessons

coz they boost yur confidence SOOO much nd tell all little techniques insted of just riding

    buh very good = ]

  • Thanks =]

I'll be sure to try that out when I start jumping again.

She was only a tiny bit underweight but this video is pretty old. She's a lot better now. I'm not going to get lessons, I think my own ways of learning are fine and until I acually feel I need them I'm just going to learn myself.

    Thankyou for the comment.

  • :) I didn't think you did bad at all! keep it going! you're doing greaatttt ;)

  • Thankyou! =]

  • your a great rider!!! keep going!!! :)

  • Thanks =]

  • yes shorten your reins and stirrups. your stirrups should be as long as your arm. also work on you leg muscles which just takes time. it would be a little easier and look nicer if you arched your back a bit or put your sholders back. no to be mean but your hands are all over the place work on keeping your thumbs up and your hands lower and more still. hope that helps a bit. good luck with your beautiful horse!! ps nice riding

  • Yeah I did pretty bad. I'm working on it though. LoL =]

I'll be sure to use your advice when I go jumping next.

    Thanks =]

  • noo you did greaT. your still learning and so am i. but thanks for using my advice!! :-)

  • agreeing with the shorter reins and stirrups but nice work for your first time.

the half seat was pretty great for a beginner!

  • Thankyou =]

  • Great job for your first time and Sable's too! Sable is so calm! You guys have potential :D

  • Thanks so much!!

  • wow u actually look good

    good work

  • Thanks =]

  • Just mentioning (not trying to critize you) but maybe shortening up your reins and shortening ur stirrups. Really good 1st time :)

  • I'll remember that for next time. Thanks =]

I don't mind some critizising on this video. I wanted some advice.

  • teehee commintary time!

    ok

so u did really well specailly for nto having a trianner

    but

lol some things i would recommed

1.pull ur foot out of ur stirrups more so u can get taht heel DOWN! it wil mkae jumping more enjoyable!

2.When ur jumpign u seem to let ur horse decide if she is going to jump or not give her more of a squeeze/encouragement to jump not jsut step over

3.U might want to grab so mian over the fence so u don;t accidently pop her in the mouth

  • Thanks =]

I'll remember to do that when I start jumping again =]

    Thanks for the advice

  • yay good luck with the future!

  • if you keep jumping her and stuff.. whenever you are cantering to a jump dont trot right before. just s tip. you look good though. i haven't even gotten 4 inches out of my new horse xD

  • Yeah I didn't mean to slow down to a trot. I was meant to canter all that way but...yeah, my mistake. LoL.

Don't worry, everything takes time. Your horse will get it =]

  • yeah im hoping she will get it real quick. ima sub you cuz i wanna see sables progress :D

  • Thankyou so much! =]

  • not to be mean but when u land try not to pull back on the reins but u did good any way

  • Thanks for the advice.

I'll remember that for next time =]

  • ur welcome but dont worry you did good for the first time on the horse. good job

  • Thanks XD

  • never mind we r friends i new that

  • Hehe, LoL =]

  • i loose my mind sometimes

  • LoL, I do too. I have that many friends and people I've subscribed to I can't remember who's who. =P

  • ya same here

  • I would recoment shorten ur reins and stirrups! nice job though! :)

  • wow!! good job for your first time w/ ur horse!!! your horse is sooo lanky and has such long legs!! she'll make a wonderful jumper some day as will you!!!! :D great video!

  • Thankyou so much!

I love her lanky legs =]

  • if you are thinking about taking her to a show then you should try to canter over the jumps cause thats what you need to do in a show

  • Yeah I know...I'll remember to do that next time =]

  • wow pretty good for someone who doesnt have a trainer!

    i have some tips.

when attempting your first jump, go towards it at a controlled canter, NOT a trot (you did a trot jump). once you master it try a trot jump.. one more thing. when youre going over the jump try to go into 2 point postion (lean close to the horses neck and put your hands higher up the horses neck) the higher the jump, the more forward in your seat you need to go and the more forward your hands go too.hope it works for you!

  • OK, I'll give that a go =] Thanks for the help.

  • That was very nice for you're second or third jumping session. My advice would be Shorten your reins a few inches and grab a good handful of mane over your jump. This will give you a "Short Crest Release" (That's what I use normally) It is a fantastic stablizer for you and will help you stay out of her mouth over and after the jump. Maybe shorten your stirrups a hole and think about lenghtining the back of your leg, as if you were standing. Does that make any sense at all? :-]

  • Yeah it does =]

Thanks for the help. I'll try that out.

  • hi there... okay for a first time jumper and with no teacher/trainer for you or your horse you are doing really well.. and also i have a little bit of advice... in this video when you get to the trot poles that are flat on the ground you bring Sable back to a trot i reckon if you try keeping her at a canter all through there you'll end up with a better more comfortable jump... and as for what some of the others said they are completely right! try some cross bars first so Sable can get used to it

  • Thankyou =]

I'll remember to give that a try when I go jumping next.

    Thanks for your help.

  • are you sure youve never jumped before!? and its also a straight bar which is harder than cross bars because the horses have no aim for the middle.

i would say give a little bit more with your reins over the jump but remember to bring them back after wards. and if you want to go higher i would say try cross bars at first then move to sraight bars.

but your going good! keep jumping!

  • I've only jumped once before and it wasn't very good. =P LoL.

Thanks for the advice, I'll be sure to try it out.

  • This is amazing for first time jumpers!!

keep practsing n try poles n cavaleties this will help u with her striding and keepin a nice pace, make sure you keep ur legs back 2 keep her going forward, try free jumping n lungeing her over bigger jumps but make sure she is going at a nice pace otherwise rushing may become a habit, when ur riding dont push her to much and always end on a good note!!

your doing so well keep it up, good luck for the future and just ask if you need anymore help

    xxx

  • Thankyou =]

And thanks also for the advice.

  • just try to push down into your heels, and you'll be on the right track! good job! =)

  • the most advice I can give you. is do the small ones in bareback this will help strengthen your lower back and leg muscles.. all what you need for jumping. And try to keep your lower leg under you.. You kept putting it behind you not good since that will put you off balance and if she decides to stop your going to go over her neck.. other then that. look forward don't look down, I wasn't that obvious but I saw you look down several times.. remember you look at it.. you land in it.. great work.

  • Ok, I'll try that out next time I go riding.

    Thanks for your help =]

  • she was good for her first time :) and in the canter she jumnped lovely!!

keep on doing this basic stuff once a week or twice but one of them after long flatwork you do like 3 jumps ... and the other one focus on trotting poles and do like 1 20cm to get her used to it , after some basics like that you should tey 50cm after 2 ,3 weeks ... you were doing really well for your first time but as they go bigger give reins and lean a bit forward to help the mare more =D xxxx loved it!!

  • Thankyou for your help.

I'm glad you enjoyed it =]

  • good job =D

try doing a siting trot b4 going over way easy to get ur balance and also standing in ur 2 point the whole ways give u great muscles =D

u 2 are so great for both learning im learning to =p

  • Thanks for the advice =]

    Good luck with your jumping.

  • tnxs =D oh and practise ur sitign trot more as well great muscles!
