It was about tree ring data and only three lines ever metioned, and the "trick" is most likely refering to a technique to make the numbers work to show the actual data. Merely two (of hundreds!) of these emails have been shown in the media to be incriminating and have been shown in the media as such. And even then, they are flawed. To be brief, they are talking about completely unrelated pieces of research on tree-rings and solar cycles.

Not to long ago I had a discussion with a scientist who works over at NYU, and she told me that she has had a hard time with the science community not being honest, and how it conflicts with her Christian walk. She stated to me that they constantly change numbers and fudge reports on their findings in order to remain in the universities good graces, and to continue receiving grants and other fundings. I've been atheist .after being christian for 14 years i lost faith. fact is i never got what it meant to be a christian at that point and the catholic church wasnt doing much help. There is a video posted on Thunderf00t's channel showing the emails in CONTEXT with the correct explanations for certain terms used in the emails. I believed this email scandal until I saw it. I am also a global warming skeptic, but I do have an issue with FOX news placing email phrases out of context.

Im not a scientist but my gut feeling is that its about 60% chance that climate change is not a hoax. Given the costs of human lives and suffering that this global catastrophe would cause vs not and the technologies that are being driven by this market, I think politically you have to act as though it were a definate and the media and scientists have to act also to this end.
There is a 100% chance that climate change is real, and a 100% chance that it is NOT man-made. Since we have records of such things, the temperature has fluctuated. I am sure that many people would love it if it was 70 degrees (21C) every day, but it isn't.

Correcting facts? I have yet to here any news on the decrease in temperatures over this year. If the assumption of increasing C02 emissions were directly correlated with temperature increases we would not see a cooling in temperature, but a steady increase proportional to the C02.

Do you know how hard it is for anything to get published in a scholarly journal? The peer review process is difficult to circumvent and getting published is very difficult. The scientific community is hardly a bunch of collaborators all on the same team.

It was about tree ring data and only three lines ever metioned, and the "trick" is most likely refering to a technique to make the numbers work to show the actual data. I find it very paranoid of anyone to believe that scientists have been making up litterally thousands of false articals and data just to make up man made climate change with no benifit to anyone if it wasn't true. Not to long ago I had a discussion with a scientist who works over at NYU, and she told me that she has had a hard time with the science community not being honest, and how it conflicts with her Christian walk. She stated to me that they constantly change numbers and fudge reports on their findings in order to remain in the universities good graces, and to continue receiving grants and other fundings. I've been atheist .after being christian for 14 years i lost faith. fact is i never got what it meant to be a christian at that point and the catholic church wasnt doing much help. That being said, almost all of my friends are atheists and i listen to what they say. most of them lack a deep understanding of God and what the bible talks about and after going into detail answering their questions they usually just say they want to drop it. So i drop it. They dont want to believe because its heavy.

The reason they don't report it is because it's not big news (unless you're looking for a conspiracy). I'm an engineer and have worked with thermal models for gas turbines.
And guess what, It's common practice to "force" models to fit the real data, to "modify" things to fit what they're supposed to be. I originally thought that there was merit in the claims, but after reading them, I see no deception. I mean, could've written those emails. Complex computer models are difficult and frustrating

Obviously climate change is a very difficult subject to prove for a fact in terms of its scientific complexity.
Im not a scientist but my gut feeling is that its about 60% chance that climate change is not a hoax. Given the costs of human lives and suffering that this global catastrophe would cause vs not and the technologies that are being driven by this market, I think politically you have to act as though it were a definate and the media and scientists have to act also to this end.

There is a 100% chance that climate change is real, and a 100% chance that it is NOT man-made. Since we have records of such things, the temperature has fluctuated. I am sure that many people would love it if it was 70 degrees (21C) every day, but it isn't.

I think 'climategate' is certainly a terrible scandal, however, saying science and scientists are bad because of it is like saying presidency and presidents are bad because of watergate. Global warming was never really conclusively proven, and was a controversial theory before this occurred. You really shouldn't jump to conclusions like this. The CRU team were able to misbehave in the way they seem to have done, because their workings were not available to others to review and correct. FOr global warming, the world relies on a handful of jealously guarded data sets, which is a serious problem.
The same is not true for the science backing evolution theory. We are not being asked to trust that the scientists are doing things correctly; we can check it ourselves.

the emails regarding how to "manipulate data" are not as insidious as you seem to think to a layman I can see how manipulate caries purpose driven connotations but to a statistician or scientist manipulate also refers to making appropriate data sets and processing them in an appropriate manner. any time you have large and varied types of data intermixed, "manipulation" of the data is necessary to make models. as for the "tricks" just read (super)freakonomics he talks about tricks for useful data

Correcting facts? I have yet to here any news on the decrease in temperatures over this year. If the assumption of increasing C02 emissions were directly correlated with temperature increases we would not see a cooling in temperature, but a steady increase proportional to the C02.

yeah dont you like how if a group of Scientist do something wrong you can discredit the scientific community all together? but if a prominent religious figure is caught Doing Coke, or tax invasion "well its not Christianity fault" and they are right, those where just dishonest people, just as anyone can be in any society .

I have been watching this pretty closely too. I wonder though if those emails made it from the host computer to the media untampered. Or who the "hackers" even are or what their motives are.
I think there are too may variable. Let's face it, if they turned out to be Enviro-whackjobs, the credibilty would be suspect. Don't you think?

Bottom line is global warming is made up. All of this is cause by something called the SUN. It goes through cycles of activity over periods of time and it affects not just earth but all planets. We are currently in a cooling period and the emails were about how to cover that all up so they could continue fooling people and keep advancing their plans.

Most of the evidence seems to point to change, granted it is by no means without questions that need answering.
BUT unless you're blind, it is a fact that things are changing.
Trying to justify doing nothing is immoral, and disgusting. We should be trying to clean things up anyway, it can only do the planet good.
Just have a good look at your children, and grandchildren, and THEN try to justify it to them. We are merely temp custodians of this planet.

Do you know how hard it is for anything to get published in a scholarly journal? The peer review process is difficult to circumvent and getting published is very difficult. The scientific community is hardly a bunch of collaborators all on the same team.

You mention fear mongering used a tactic of control. I couldn't agree more. It was used by the Bush administration to pass the Patriot Act, to go to war with Iraq, and all sorts of other things. It was (and is) used by organized religion to get it follower's in line. Do what we say or you'll burn in hell forever. We seem to be on the same page but see things in a different light.
