  • Lukani -one of the gems of the "the Golden Era of Congolese music" stretching from the 1940s to the early 1990s. I remember growing up in Racecourse Estate Kariakor Nairobi in the 70s and early 80s on this great musical diet!

  • MBONA SIJAONA luciana humu? Ya Mopero Zetutu alias J'taime

  • lukani that my song do not get tired listening to this one song thanks for posting lipua lipua good job this does not get old

  • However, can someone translate the lyrics of this song to English for me?

  • One of the best songs from Congo enjoyed universally. You don't need to understand the language to appreciate the quality of this song.

  • In fond memorie of my late brother Kefar Otieno Omolo ( keffi) 1975. Bro rest in peace, We all miss u.

  • I was in Form One when this number was among the Top Ten (by Eddy Fondo of Voice of Kenya, (VoK) now KBC. The song was done by Verckys of L'Orch. Veve

  • He is Verckys Kiamuangana Mateta. He and Sam Mangwana are two different people! Kiamuangana was born in 1944 in Kisantu, Congo. In 1969 he left Franco's TPOK Jazz to form his own band Orchestre Veve. In 1972 some of his band members left to form Orchestre Sosoliso Trio Madjesi. He recruited Pepe Kalle. At age 25 Kiamuangana established his own studio in Kinshasa going on to create and produce great bands such as Orch Lipua Lipua, Orch Kiam, Orch Les Kamale, Zaiko Langa Langa, Kofi Olomide.

  • This song is by Orchestre Veve (one of Verckys' assets). Sam Mangwana has nothing to do with this song. At the time of this song, Sam M. was probably working for Rochereau or Franco.

  • This was not Lipua Lipua. This is Sam Mangwana Verckys

  • @faboge > This is Veve with the likes of Verckys Kiamangwana Mateta, Nzaya and group not Sam Mangwana.

  • Please brother, relive the moment but continue with life. we are growing old...

  • Sam Anyuru thanks brother for this music. I had too very nice girl friends at the time of this music, and brings back all the good memories. How can we recapture this life again, or should we move on? Lovely memories.

  • MAMBO BADO!!!!!!

  • Zaire...had such beauifull music...yet ....there was war? I can't comprehend it. Lipua Lipua....Bless you!

  • my innocence just crept back listening to this piece.... how simple and sweet life was back then!

  • A classic that could be heard from every pub, every makeshift bar and "pote" in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Thanks for posting this

  • This song was legendary in the Congo's buildup to African music domination/

Every aspect of the song was artfully executed.

  • This song was by Orchestre Veve, not Lipua Lipua.

  • I 've been looking for "Enguduka" for a long while.

Nobody in my surroundings seems to have the hit. I'll keep on looking and when I get it, I'll post it. It took me 14 yrs to bump into someone with "Lukani"

  • I agree 100% with Darubini2 that Lukani is a song by Veve. I doubt if Lipua Lipua has anything to do with Lukani.

By the way Sam, do you have "Engunduka Mawa" or something like that? I don't know who played it.

  • Veve was a band fronted by Verkys Kiamwangwana, who also supported other groups like Lipua Lipua, Kiam, etc. Lukani, to the best of my knowledge, was composed by Tusevos, who was member of Veve and the same group played the song. It is distictly Veve with not an iota of Lipua Lipua in it. All one has to do is listen to Veve songs and compare them to Lipua Lipua songs: there is a huge difference.

  • Sam, do you have some Super Mazembe music? If you do, could you post them please?

Thanks for bringing these great music to us.

  • Hi Isakais, I 've Super Mazembe. I'll post "Kasongo" and others for you. Cheers.

  • @SamAnyuru Sam i have been looking a swahili song call ( Mzazi) sung by chirku maneti group. please post it has a strong words for me.

  • drums na saxophon ni moto na wazimu...wazee wa Koelel waliishia wapi?

  • veve the producer, but played by lipua lipua.

  • this was really a hit from veve in 1975 .please not from lipua lipua.thankful for this piece

  • The producer was the great VEVE but the player was Lipua Lipua.

  • Sorry Sam, you keep saying it's Lipua Lipua but you are very wrong. This is a Veve song through and through. I had the actual 45 when it came out. Plus the sax and vocals are a Veve trademark. Thanks for posting it.

  • Orch. Veve was the name of the band and the band leader's name was Verkys Kiamuangana Nzelambongo Mateta. The composer ot this song was Tusevo.

  • Lukani!!!. Come on Lirhanda Girls. Where r u Musingu Boys?. The class of 1978?.

  • Thank you Sam Anyuru for this post. I love the music even though I don`t understand the Congolese language. The saxophone players were wonderful. I think the Congolese musicians are the best guitarists in Africa.

  • samAnyru

This is Orch Veve out in 1975!
