I say closer to 4G or 4B as it is turbocharged. It has a divided turbo outlet, couple other things, when I was looking at it seemed like the 4G. I really don't know anything about Honda engines. Never took the time to look at them.
lost foam casting is done in a lower atmospheric pressure for the LNF engines to better duplicate the contours, that my friend is pretty much the result, i have personally seen the factory head, it is impressive to say the least. BTW, if you wanna see how its done look up LS series head casting.
just bought a 09 cobalt ss with 14 lbs boost she's got 260 hp and 260 ft/lb of torque stock. and believe be its got all of that. and there lots of tuneing potential left too
chevy not only raping the v8 world but now I4,v6, and v16!! FTW!!!(LSJ, LNF!!)

@gopherchoker - I have an '09 SS/TC too and I'm in love with the car. Victory red coupe with red interior.
The motor is an LNF. Cool to see the cutaway.

Do these things have 4 valves per cylinder? I know GM is stuck on stupid with that "2 valves per cylinder" garbage.
4G63FD 2 years ago
Yes they are 4 valve. The engine honestly looks a whole lot like a 4G63.
tyndago 2 years ago
Yeah I heard. With all the 6 bolts getting harder to find, I guess these are the new 4g63's

Aluminum block though. More like the 4B than the 4G. The 4G is a great engine. I have a ton of respect for it, even though I am mostly a RB26 guy.

@tyndago its actualy closer to a k20

130 HP per liter, beat that v-tec! ha

@94crapalier
Honda's B16B is 115HP/Liter and it's naturally aspirated...This LNF is boosted and making 130HP/Liter...You're comparing apples to oranges

@EP1CMusic Well said..

Boosted Hondas make similar numbers. Tight little motors.
In the 90's the Quad4 was making 180-190 hp N/A and a highly modded version set a land speed record.
It's nice to see efficient 4-bangers finally making nice power without breaking the bank or being a pain to drive/maintain.

Ecotec is the most badass line of engines. From the ION to the Cobalt, Sky to the Solstice and up these engines rock.
