  • actually jguyer1 the females are ready to breed @ 30 inches and the males 10 months but it's not good 4 them im waiting until they are 1 yr old to breed wait if u want totally up to u

  • This is just my opinion, but I don't think that your incubation substrate choice is the problem. I think that you're breeding way too early in the season. I've found that the later I wait, the better hatch rates i get with many clutches hatching at 100%. This system works for me, but you know that if you ask the same question to 10 different breeders, you're going to get 10 different answers. Everyone does things a bit differently.

  • I've never used vermiculite so I can't say. I incubate my Corn eggs in plastic boxes in an old broken refrigerator at room temp out in my garage. My Corns are still in brumation. I won't even think about waking them up for a couple more weeks. I don't start breeding them until mid April or so. I won't see eggs until the mid till end of May. Hatchlings start showing up in late july through August. During the time that I incubate the ambient temps run in the low 80F range which is perfect.

  • Hi there, is sphagnum moss better than vermiculite? I have 2 females that are pregnant and want to have a more successful hatching rate than previous years. And should i use a heat mat? As before i would just keep the tub out in room temp.

Any tips would be great thanks :)

  • Hi Slash. I actually breed the snakes and produce the eggs here at my facility.

It seems that I have recieved comments here that never made it to my email inbox. Sorry for not seeing them until now. Tj, Your female Corn Snake should be ready to breed at 3 yrs old. Sometimes I'll breed a large 2yr old, but I normally wait until they are 3. Thank you and I hope this helps.

  • waer do you buy your eggs?

  • also wat age should i start breeding them? first time having a female and i would like to try?

  • i hav an okeetee its a couple years old i think 7 or 8 not sure but ihad a kenyan sand boa tiny guy only bout a ft but it died last year probably cuz we were feeding it frozen mice (thawed out of course) but weve had em a while same with my bros speckled king snake we got an amalistic (mine) and a blood (bros) also a ghost (sisters!) nice vid (mine are all male except the amalistic)

  • do u think i should get a corn snake or a milk snake

  • Yep, I have used spagnum peat moss for years now to hatch eggs and it has worked great.

  • so you can use that moss stuff too? i got some.

  • I didnt see no eggs!!!

  • The smallest clutch of Corn eggs I've ever had was 9, the largest clutch I've had is 26.

14-16 or so seems to be a fairly good average.

  • how many egg thay usally have?

  • The range for wild corn snakes does not include Pennysylvania.

  • do corn snakes live in pennsylvania?

  • how long after they hatch do u feed them a week or a day i have no idear ?

  • after their first shed

  • Why are they in dirt?
