hands down the best all round TE in the NFL for the past 3-4 years. As a TE coach in High School I tell my players if you don't develop a love for blocking you will not have a successful career at this position, the receptions will come when you present yourself as a solid blocker first. Growing up a 49er fan I wish the OC past and present would be able to put together a package/scheme for Vernon Davis as the CBoys have for Witten.

You act as if Finley is a one trick pony. He's become a good blocker, not as good as Witten yet, but he's already a better receiver than Witten. Barring injury, after each of their careers are over, they will likely have a similar amount of awards and accolades.

Jason Witten is an all around te he can block,run,catch,break tackles and even tackle the the ball carrier who intercepted or recovered the ball. He is known for fooling defenders if it's a run or pass like in 2:45-2:53

No hatin on Jason Witten but Antonio gates has more than twice the number of touchdowns and they came in the league the same year. the most touchdowns Jason witten scored in a season was 7 in '07, which was less than antonio gates worst season last year. They're both great TE though.

TE's need to do more than just get receving yards or catch TD passes. Witten blocks better than some lineman. Gates is more athletic than witten and may be a better receving TE, but over all I think witten is better overall. Chargers have had no receiers to throw too, Hes the only guy who gets the ball thats why he has bigger numbers.
