Its so immature to get itchy about the oscar winning by A.R.Rahman, From most of comments here that thing is reflecting. IR is a genius that every one knows. ARR is also a genius, IR made everyone wonderstruck with his Annakili & Rahman entered changing the whole scenario with his Roja. One Replaces another , thats the universal law. Still we cherish Raja sir's music. Raja sir was so adamant to stand his ground regarding his orchestrational technique. While Rahman bought a new orchestral sound.
i m an ardent fan or raja and i m really happy u ll know better abt oscar.. i also only the media s givin hype.. they say a movie to be superhit just a day after its release.. people kno better abt good muvs. wen r the media going to follow the truth nd educate the people... only then our india ll develop.. by the way a heart-touching song.. i pine for br-vaira-ir and mani-vaira-ir combination...:(
To all OSCAR lovers. Its just an american award with a lot of Hype. That movie won that because its a Hollywood production. Its ridiculous to think 'thats one of the best songs by this composer"
ilayaraja 166 songs audio cd new imported rec pls call patel at 8695693152 order now all melody songs only of raja the best ever composed .call now .
This song has so many great things about it. The way it progresses through half notes, great strings in the first and second interludes....simply one of Raaja's very best. He gave so much for whatever producers paid him. The best film musician of the Indian film industry. I have one thing to say about other musicians of today: they may be good with melodies but none cares to put in as much arrangement and orchestration as IR did. The avg tamil rasigan is being deceived I think.
I love AR Rahman and I think he is a musical genius as well of our time. illayaraja found fame during a time period that was different from now. Since things are changing with the world and we are all part of this technology era and all this western lifestyle has shed its light on us, he is more like a universal musician because he has done a lot of music work in many countries and he has more people to collaborate with. They are both great and they both are geniuses!!! loveeee them both!!!
illayaraja's composition is amazing and he is such a music genius.. No matter how many decades pass why, you will never get bored of his songs. Oscar is not everything in the world and by saying "you didn't win an oscar" it's like saying you need to win an oscar to be noticed as a talented, genius musician. I personally think dat kind of idea is such a western perspective. Oscar is a event that is done by western culture and we don't need to be recognized through an award they give us.
Let us accept that Kollywoood or even Bollywood is gaining global attendance. Few years down the line, there could be a music director from Telugu or Kannada might win 2 oscars every year. Will that make him better? Awards are just opinions of people at that point of time. It never compares before or after. Ilayaraja is a genius and so is Rahman.
Raja's instruments have soul and organs. They speak, tocuh, make you move, feel happy, sad, mesmerize, even make you cry. That alll without knowing yourself
Grammy or Ocsar cant make a song evergreen !!!!! IR's songs always cause a pain or joy or comfort within human hearts. To fee that again we listen to his songs again and again.....
I think Oscar is not qualified enough to be an award to somebody talented like Illayaraja ! illayaraja has nothing to regret about. He has the whole universe behind him and not just a Oscar !
Most of Jency's songs were super hits - Raja himself had said that she could be a singer from the south (to be talked about) if she improved her pronunciation - and I think she did. But she vanished from the scene all of a sudden...I always doubted if something strange happened in their relationship...you never know...
Friends, I feel sorry for the people who did not get the oppurtunity to hear Ilayaraja songs (especially our north indian brothers). They would have loved the tunes too
Everlasting melody of maestro Ilayaraja. I always wonder why current generation of music composers not able to make this kind of music.
Great song!! But I feel it was rendered better in Telugu version. S.P.Balu and his sister S.P.Sailaja sang this song in Telugu. Movie :seetha koka chiluka
Feel so good having grown up with such good music. Am sure everyone between the age of 25 and 30 now would relate so much to the early years of the Music Maestro. And totally agree with you PrabhaK. Can understand what you say cos me too was singing on stage so many times. Best wishes to you.
One of my all time fav songs by Ilayaraja. Espacially I like the divinity of his love songs. The start of the anupallavi 'thedinen ohh en jeevane', i cant stand it........
What a beautiful melody rendered by none other than our Maestro. This song simply makes me happy instantly no matter what mood I'm. BTW I sang this song in TCS culturals in 1996. This was the first song of the culturals and everyone loved it. I sing almost like IR especially this song suits me to the T. The girl who sang with me Padma. What a lovely voice she had.Whenever I listen to this song, I always remember that day when we sang on that TCS stage.
anyday, a beautiful love song. no match to this song till date

@karthi40 its because jency couldnot make into studio on next song, which caused much angry to illayaraja.he is very strict in punctuality.
