i start a mosh pit at every one of their shows and every time some stuck up college fruitcake rolls his eyes. But there's always a couple kindred spirits who dance with me
I love this band, but their concerts seem to be the same as Death Cab's, the music means so much to the people but the crowd never really show it in a energetic sort of way.
I think you have a point, but it's not the music it's probably their performances. They are pretty consistent in their performances, but, they don't do much to get the audience into it besides sing. Would be much cooler live if they put a little more oomph in it, but then again, I'm only basing it on this vid. Not sure if they've changed since then.
Still, love the song. I heard it on Wedding Crashers, and was pretty much hooked from then on.
Actually, I have just seen them once, in Norway, just a couple months ago. Their concert was kind of calm, with some energy sparks (if I may call them that), but heres the thing; Their music is fantastic, John's voice is really great and they have presence and personality. I loved their concert, even if they did not wave their guitars enough or dance around (Actually they did that alittle as well). This concert video is pretty representative, really. But I love them.
this song has so much history for me considering that me and my now ex-wife had our first date at a weakerthan's/promise ring show i called out this song and they played it we had such hope...god i love this song.
that was awesome! and did you notice just when he sings "rely a bit to heavily on alcohol and irony" some guy holds up a cup of beer right in front of the camera? that's alcohol and irony right there!

I think their music is more for listening to alone, than watching live. Still cool, still gonna see them on the reunion tour.

This band is amazing, maybe if the footage was from a show in Canada you could properly understand how great they are to see live...

Helluva great band. My first exposure to them and I'm already hooked. Usually don't get into an artist w/o a ton of pessimism but these guys have it!

Love this tune. So much so that my next tat will be the lyric, "In love with love and lousy poetry"
