How do you know that you are only getting the cuticle, and not actual layers of your nail? Does the cuticle away only work on cuticle skin? This was a great tutorial.
@dcsvar the Cuticle Away works as a mild callous smoother as well that is why you want to spread it with your tool and not your thumb client after client
You should not need to use much pressure to lift up the cuticle, if you are digging at the nail and see scratches afterword that is too much
This video is great,im a new nail tech and im having a difficult time when some clients have very rough around the nail (not on the nail itself)...so it looks so sloppy after the manicure .any suggestions?
@79JesusFreak the curette usually cleans up a lot of that especially if you work it around in little circles against the skin. If you have a small bit that is truly cuticle, it can be nipped if your state/country laws allow it.
Hi, I am thrilled to have found this video. I am a brand new nail tech and I've found myself struggling with removing all of the dead cuticle off the nail plate correctly because I wasn't taught your methods in School. Until now I had heard of curettes but never seen them used! I'm confident I'll see less chipping and lifting in my services from now on. Thank you so much. :)
hi, I'm not a nail technician but I love doing my own nails and am considering doing a course next year and your videos have helped me so, so much. I bit my nails up until last christmas and now have long nails. that started my obsession with nail polish and nail care. up until watching your videos I had always thought the cuticle was what is actually eponychium. It horrifies me that I once used to use those v shaped cutters and cut off my eponychium. So yeah, thanks so much for this video ...
So you do this procedure before doing an infill as it takes time right? And if you do this procedure before an infill do you buff the nail plate before applying acrylics or gels? Thanks 4d vids they r really informative x x x
@Xuxkina I would do my debulking (filing down) of the product and make sure there are no lifts or cracks, then do the cuticle work just along the regrowth with the curette, followed by the remove shine of the regrowth area.
hi there i just learnt why my cuticles are becomming hard and dry ive been using my solar oil 3 to 4 times a day but have been trimming the Epinicium...is there anything i can do now to get the Epinicium back in good condition
@cuddlebumm1 CND Cuticle Eraser would be a great help in getting the eponychium back to normal, use it at bedtime with your Solar Oil and it will microexfoliate the skin as well as create a moisture pack from the combination of the two!
Great videos....really helping me to grow as a nail tec. Would like to ask do you agree with cutting of the cuticle?
msunique76 2 days ago
@msunique76 usually the cuticle does not need trimmed but occasionally it could, you should definitely not ever trim the eponychium
