Robert, just listening to this reminds me of my late Uncle Percy, and how Barren Rocks of Aden was one of the fiddle tunes my mother told me he would always play for square dance parties at my Grandparents house. I may be 40, but I grew to have an appreciation for Scottish fiddle music, because of being brought up around it. Trés bien :-)
Robert mon vieux, the was one of the tunes my sister-in-law requested for my dear husband's funeral 3 months ago. Your version is magic and captured the joy and defiance of fate of all good Celts. Mad Mick and Seumas Beag are proud of you.
He,s not married but his wife is, and he still can't decide what to do with his hair, but then again not everybody in Black Duck Book can squeeze a tune outa fiddle
Masterful job on a fantastic, time-honoured showpiece pipe tune that's reliably documented as far older than the occupation of Aden by the Empire. Love the key change. Still keeps the piping roots! Great stuff. Us pipers have to work so much harder--might just take up the fiddle.
Robert....... absolute magic. We play this tune a lot at West of scotland jammin' sessions. Changing the key from D to G halfway through sounds great. Must try it sometime. Thanks again.
A lovely lively rendition of the tune.Well done.
