i take it that your serious about this and your strummings pretty bad dont try and guess when to strum with the backtrack just feel the song and the strumming and it should be easier.. if you didnt have the song in the back your strum pattern wouldnt even sound like the song.

loosen up the hinges a bit there, use more of your lower arm/wrist for the strumming; and how do you like your guitar? i'm looking around for an acoustic-electric to expand from just having metal capable guitars

Your strumming is off. And it's pretty obvious you're trying really hard at it. Chord changes are nice and pretty smooth, but when your strumming try moving your wrist more than your elbow.
you may have to practise a few strumming patterns
