In Israel, it is VERY difficult for the average citizen to obtain a permit to own, and especially carry, a gun. Hunting rifles are completely illegal due to their long-rage lethality, and pistol-carry permits are the hardest things to get ever... Why?

It's not such a big deal. And that was our first real combat-stealth aircraft, and it was deployed in greater numbers and did far more good work for the U.S. Airforce than any Soviet counterpart, if you even managed to generate a working one.

Russia,China,the US,Israel and even India are all developing critical missile defense systems,but ICBM's will never be irrelevant.Each modern ICBM carries...what 12 MRIV's,which means you will need an accurate interception system for each of those warheads.Very impractical.

The ICBM complex depicted in min 1:52 and following is realistic, but their "shelters" seem to be too soft to assure a real protection against a nuclear blast. The thickness of rocks over them is too little. Those ICBMs seem to be a copy of chinese ones

If everyone in the world had a gun there would be peace, but if one has a gun and the other does not then your have war. If both opponents are equally matched then they cancel eachother out. Like in the cold war, you know why it never went hot? Mutually Assured Destruction, if they both can wipe eachother out they they wont fire, or face death themselves, weapons = stalemate.

In the nuclear case, which I believe is the exception, this is not certain, as no nations wants ANY nuclear detonations of any magnitude within their borders, regardless of who'se bombs are bigger. If everyone has weapons, there will generally be more violence. More weapons = more violence. If everyone in the world had a gun, there would not be real peace

In Israel, it is VERY difficult for the average citizen to obtain a permit to own, and especially carry, a gun. Hunting rifles are completely illegal due to their long-rage lethality, and pistol-carry permits are the hardest things to get ever... Why?
Because only the Army and Police should have guns on hand. That's the logic behind that policy, and it works very well in Israel. There is not a lot of gun-crime in the Jewish State.

Evil exists in the world, and guns are not the problem, the fate of that weapon is determined by the individual that wields it. And since many criminals use guns is it not safer that citizens have a means of self defense and counter attack to those that would hurt them? When war calls again Holland will fall, her people lack that self defense.

And nothing can live or grow within 100 miles of "ground zero" for 10,000 years.

@tyma7575 These missile to missile defenses are experiments in ballistic theory, rather than practical long-term defenses. The data will be used to further devlopment in other areas, like orbital bombardment (i.e. "mass drivers") and deep-core asteroid mining operations.
Lasers are virtually 100% failsafe. The turret tracking speed is far superior to even supersonic missiles. 1 IR beam to lock the target, 1 pulse laser beam to destroy it. Simple, and effective.

@ozas80 The MTHEL is deployed in Israel right now, for field testing. The power requirments are NOT an issue. The MTHEL can hit both missiles, and artillery shells.
It doesn't matter how fast your missiles are, they can even be supersonic with the ability to change ballistic trajectory, and STILL the MTHEL can hit them. The turret tracking speed is more than enough to track and destroy ANY missile.

@ozas80 With a space-based beam weapon, we can hit any missile launched on earth while still in it's "boost phase." They are easy to destroy on their way up out of the atmosphere. It's only after they "go ballistic" and seperate (MIRV) that they become harder to hit.
But with enough beam emitters, we can hit the MIRV, too. Missiles are SLOW compared to laser beams.

Yes, I know one of our F-117 was shot down back then... but we made hundreds of those planes. If shooting down one aircraft is such a big accomplishment for you guys, well: Feel free to celebrate.
It's not such a big deal. And that was our first real combat-stealth aircraft, and it was deployed in greater numbers and did far more good work for the U.S. Airforce than any Soviet counterpart, if you even managed to generate a working one.

The F-117 was used from the mid 90's all the way into operation "shock and awe" over Baghdad not too long ago... The F-117 more than paid-off as a versitile and capable stealth aircraft. And we don't use them anymore... we have new ones.
Did Russia ever match the F-117? Probably not.

For Instance SS-20 compared to the Minuteman X series,which was a disaster because Soviet ABM systems(which were considered primitive compared to their NATO counterparts) were capable of taking them out in a 12/16-1.2 Ratio.
