seen loads of bands and frank will stick in my mind ! saw him in rafters manchester must have been 79 to 84 ish ? ! anyway it was one of the best ! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I knew frank, He was a wonderful soul................... I will miss him, I and my kind fight for his wonderful spirit. Long live the 80' and Icons as Fad a pure Icon electro man.
I wish I had the insight you had at that time. I will make in poetry your name,
Never got to see him, and know I missed out. Saw OMD in Detroit in '82 or so and thoroughly pissed them off by repeatedly screaming "play some Fad Gadget" They did well, but I'd rather have seen Frank...I too love youtube
Marilyn Manson tried to copy Rozz Williams, and failed miserably. Mr Manson was maybe going to elementary school when Fad Gadget came out with this song...
i also see similarity though curtis is better but i love this stuff, too... a whole lot. its like ian curtis gone wild in a different way. a simmilar raw energy.
Saw frank at rafters in manchester 1979/80/81/82 cant recal the year - total talent used the place to his advantage! climbing swinging you name it - top gig!
saw him a few years ago at EuroRock in Belgium and indeed he had some fun to climb into the stage/light posts and spraying himself with shaving creme during the Lady shave song :)
I was there too. I think it was in 1981. I got up on stage with a load of other people as he covered it in shaving cream. Memorable to say the least. I met him in the club Devilles not long after and he tatooed my arm with a pen.

His voice and Ian Curtis's sound similar
TrainmasterCurt 3 years ago 3
he can hold notes better than ian, but thats not the most important in music

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hears the similarity between Curtis and Tovey. They even look a bit similar, but very different musical styles.

Best live performance ever. I love when he just starts flipping out into the mic.
