  • these cars have premature rust problems

  • @toyota420xp Actually, no. If you research this topic, that rust is actually industrial/rail dust that sticks and rusts (it gets stuck during transport). A good cleaning, waxing and sealant application resolves this issue.

  • I have a Mazda3 5 door with the 2.3 and a stick. It is far quicker than its competition, and with aftermarket tires it far out-handles them too. If you like spirited driving, in the country or a point-and-shoot commuter, it really cannot be beat for the price. And I get 28-30 mpg driving in a spirited style. I sometimes hit 100 on my commute. A very comfortable car too, I am not a little person and it still fits me right.

  • u dont need to buy an aston martin or a ferrari to have a car with soul,u simply buy a mazda

  • @KPKonliner like in many car reviews, and consumer car reviews-mazda is definitely the japanese BMW easily

  • @KPKonliner Or subaru :)

  • Relaxed road manners depends on tires. The Goodrich tires are not the best choice, use a type A tire like a Rotalla Korean tire and you'll get the relaxed road manners you need. I also installed a centric to the rear and mine is smooth and quiet. Merging is great, add synthetic oil and it hums pass any normal competitor. Of course it's not a speed3 but it gets up there. It's not a maintenance free Toyota, stay on top of it and learn as much as you can about the faults it has.

  • @tonytsui96 If you can deal with so-so resale value The Kia Forte would be a good choice. Think of it as a compromise between a Corolla and a 3. Sportier than the Corolla but not as sporty as a 3. It has a peppy engine. The Kia is more affordable to. No navigation, you can get everything bluetooth, leather, etc. for iunder 20 grand and a 10 yr 100,000 mile warranty doesn't hurt. If you butr all about performance go for the 3. The kia is more practical. But test drive both and see which you like

  • Comment removed

  • @tonytsui96 its toyota, no doubt

  • Just got on:D

  • is this a good car for a teenager? i really want one. i love the look of this car, plus its affordable.

    What would insurance be?

  • @markeyboy9944 The car may actually be too much performance-wise for a teenager. Sorry but that is my opinion. Respect the handling....it will take you far faster into corners than you may be used to, and that might bite you in the ass in the end. I think a Honda Civic is better for a young driver, it is more reliable really (the Mazda is reliable but has a couple quirks) and the Civic will understeer enough to warn you that you are in over your head. Trust me kid, I was young once, lol.

  • My 2004 3s is about to cross 100,000 miles and the only issue I've had in 6.5 years of ownership is the TPMS. By far the nicest car to be had under 20k when I bought it in '04. I'm still in love.

  • I agree. Mazda cars are so reliable. I have a 98 Protege for five years and it is still going strong.

  • i think mazda cars are underrated. we have a 98' protege and its got 252k miles on it and still running strong. which reminds me it needs a tune-up for the first time lol

  • Got a 06 grand touring. Its a blast to drive and so far 0 troubles in 30000 mi.

  • i like the hatchback so much more

  • i got the hatchback model for 13500!!!! and i love it

  • Why does it turn so recklessly? Is that a problem while driving?

  • @Dontae667 Its normally only on the Speed3 that it happens on; its called Torque Steer.

  • when will americans learn that theres no R in mazda

  • Comment removed

  • the car is really sexy ... i want it

  • @KalAdiga no it's not shut up..

  • I like this car :)

  • it always seems to be that when you import a car from japan to america, they dont have very many standard features. In Australia we have mazda 3:

    Neo

    Maxx

    Maxx sport

    Sp23

    MPS

  • Is it true that the engine tends to drop after an accident?

  • 2:03 does it come with that dent in the fender?

  • hahaha nice catch

  • i love it so much..

  • Mauzda???

  • this car look nice only the speed3 type look ugly i cant stand looking at it but all other trims look nice

  • I just love the Mazda 3. :-)

  • yeah i jus wish it had like 15-25 more horses

  • I dont think there are problems with cars made in korea

  • how many horsepower?

  • Why do women wear those skirts? It looks like you're wearing drapes.

  • Oh, the plastic's a bit cheap though...marks VERY EASILY, gotta watch out EVERY TIME x(

  • The Mazda 3 is a great looking car.

  • 3rd best car in it's class

  • The mazda 3 is the above average combination of just enough; power, fuel economy and sportiness at a good price. Where it stands out is in how fun a ride it is.

  • Did i say something any car that is under 20k is a chick car. idiot... read my comment again. I specifically said "Mazda3 to 6 except Mazdaspeed" Check yourself before you wreck yourself brother.

  • I heard the mazda 3 is a "chick" car. I am a young male who wants to buy one. Is there any truth to this assumption?

  • None at all man..

I've not seen any chick drive this car.. like not once..

I'm considering this or the Civic for my first car.. probably will be this though

  • i would go with the mazda...civic's are overrated in my opinion.

  • Oh I forgot to mention, I bought the Mazda3 Hatch in Red on Sunday..

    I LOVE IT!

  • We.. ok, it's my dad's... just got one in Navy blue... I LOVE IT TOO

LOOKS NICE AS! But feel as fast as I've hoped. Nevertheless, AWESOME CAR LOVE IT!!!

  • I've had it for a few weeks, and my feelings haven't changed about this car. I really love it!

I have one gripe with it, and its quite a minor one, and its about how there's no 10, 30, 50 (basically all the 10's with the odd digit at the front). Nothing I really care about really, but once you get used to counting down from the even 10's its a quick remedy.

  • ei.. i'm fine by that. I've never had 10, 30, 50 etc...

But the plastic... just avoid contact with it at all cost. Even the plastic steering wheel's got a random scratch somehow,

  • It doesn't really matter. Get a car you're going to enjoy driving daily for some time and don't worry about its perceived status quo. It's not like owning a "man car" will make you any manlier or grow your penis in a way. That's what beards are for (lol).

I have to agree with a previous poster - I would love a MS3 sedan instead of hatch. Please Mazda, pleeease.

  • yes it is my man. Miata and Mazda3 to 6 is a chick car. Except Mazdaspeed hatchback :)

  • So basically anything under $20k is a chick car you're saying

  • well my ex girlfriend just got one yesterday. But if you got the mazda 3 hatchback, it would be way cooler.

  • nice looking car but 167hp @ $23k is crap

  • The speed3 has a turbo and has about 280 hp. which i can assure you is not crap

  • what the fuck is your point?

We're clearly comparing basic models to turbo ones that cost over $30k right?

    retard.

  • It's a shame that the Mazdaspeed 3 isn't also available as the sedan.

  • what the hell, Maaarrrzzzzzzzzzzzda 3, god this guy is pissing me off!

  • and it will be the hatchback version

  • i'll be learning to drive in this :)

  • that is a sexy car

  • looooove it.

  • Love it! Want it!

  • this car is more like upper $15k and its not bad looking but not worth the price

  • I have a speed 3...oh god is it fast....have to be careful when taking of tho...she likes to spin the tires....

  • the sedan or the hatchback??

  • I drove the new 2010 last night. Much nicer inside and better driving...but not as pretty outside. This generation is a classic.

  • its one of da best compact cars out there, but cnt match da honda civic...

  • it beats the civic, civic is proly the uglest car it look like a fuckin space shit its crap and it aint fun to drive or nothing.

  • cicvic is shit mazda 3 rapes it

  • wow, this car is old school. 2009 models look very different inside

  • easy fix to the mild acceleration...get the manual...if you know how to 'handle' a man. trans. properly (and im not talking about you daily driver - back and forth to work- people) you will get 60+mph quicker than you think.

  • i want this car!

  • I think it's weird they mentioned the speed3, but didn't mention it's 264HP when they were talking about the engines. >_>

  • whats the name of this color ????????

  • Easy to clean, 1.5 years of intensive outdoor work (I'm an environmental technologist) I can still clean up the inside to almost new condition. up to 850km on a tank in summer, around 650 km a tank on my winter slicks.

  • 2007 Mazda 3 GX ( Mazda 3 i sedan in the states) I drive alot, I've gone 110 000 K in 1.5 years and not a complaint. My power steering cut out once last week but came back when I recycled the ignition, hasn't happened since. I am only not replacing my front brakepads, not only is it fun to drive but it takes a beating.

  • I got this car too! It's great!

  • fuck all bad comments about this car, im getting this.!!!! Looks awsome!!

  • ... um that's because it is in the same class as the civic and corolla

  • @chacashark this car is so fun to drive and awesome, sooo reliable and the controllability when driving it is awesome

  • @chacashark also the brakes on this car are amazing

  • i love my mazda 3 its my baby

  • i know what you mean dude!! i know perfectly what you mean hehehe ........same here.!!

  • I got an '09 four door, five speed afew days ago and its awesome and I'm not just being a fanboy, these cars are smooth and lots of fun to drive if you like sporty rides. The suspension is alittle tight, but its worth it around corners! And its quite peppy! I am very happy with my purchase!

  • I have a 2007 Mada 3i with a 2.0L and slap stick, and moon roof. as well as the optional 6 CD sterio. i only paid 15K for it so i believe it was a good deal. BTW, this car has plenty of guettup for a small, 4door sedan with only a 4cyl. good car A++

  • whts the music in the background?

  • Going from that old Cavi, I'll bet you like it. I'm coming from a '91 Miata, and I still like my new 3. It's a blast to drive, and with the 2.3 and standard transmission, no problem with enough zoom. (But I wish I had a Speed3!) Wait, no, I still remember $4.00 gas...

  • I have a 2007 Mazda 3 Hatchback. The above review is pretty accurate. No, the Mazda 3 doesn't pack a huge whallop of power that a Speed 3 or Subaru WRX STI has, but it does have a lot of zip. It's a definate change from my previous car, a 2001 Chevy Cavalier. Overall, I'm very happy with my car.

  • speed 3 and WRX STI are not in the same class

  • First of all, I didn't say they were in the same class. I was just pointing out the highest end models of each. But since you brought it up, yes, they are in the same class. The Speed3 and STI are both "Sport Compact" cars. Of course it's debatable whether ALL 4-cylinders SHOULD fall into that category, but the key word there is "debatable." Nevertheless, if you look up Speed3 and STI, the classification you'll find 99% of the time is "sport compact."

  • You are dancing around the point you tool. the MSRP for the STi is what? and the mazda speed3?

  • Dancing around "the point"? What point is that? You said they're in the same class. Are you saying PRICE is what determines the class? There's a 1970 Ford Mustang on eBay right now selling for $62k. A Mercedes Benz GL450 SUV w/ a package option sells for $62k too. Weird how you never see these two "class" of vehicles compared to each other in auto magazines or dealership websites, huh? Go on, resort to more name-calling and make a bigger idiot of yourself with another vague post.

  • How do you not understand? If the STi is going for around 32k+ and the mazdaspeed3 is going for around 24-26k why are you comparing the two? Should i compare a Yaris(12k) to a Mini Cooper S(20k)?

  • Yes, if you can afford both and you're looking for a mini-compact car with great mpg.

  • ... Are you a retard? Cars als have to me the same model, and the same Weight, Sure a Mercedes or a Mustang arent the same class. Thats the same that a Scania truck would be in the same class as a Ferrari Enzo.

  • Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your statement because it looks like it was written by a seven-year old. If I did decipher your elementary school writing correctly, then you're confirming what I told him (go to next page for the comments). The guy below me stated that PRICE is what determines class. I was just making a point that it's not price. Maybe you should understand what the fuck you're reading before calling someone a retard then replying with a retarded statement yourself.

  • Well sorry for the fact you cant read.

  • I can read just fine. In fact, it took a great deal of reading skill to decipher your statement: "Cars also have to me the same model, and the same Weight,"

  • @brokenjaw1971 read it again. Seems simple to me, dumbass!

  • @brokenjaw1971 I admire people such as yourself who have the ability to deftly dismiss retardation. We need more of them.
