Al primo ascolto sembra senza senso,ma riascontandola più volte tutto diventa diverso.Musicista immenso, grande conoscitore dell'armonia, grandissimo inprovvisatore.Un genio!
What a heart stopping creation!! I was breathless. The construction of the complex chords and harmonic development are astounding! Like the roof was going to open and God himself comes down!
una maravilla de video, no me canso de verlo... sueño con algun dia estar ahi... con mi familia, he visto muchos videos de notre dame... pero esas voces de este video son los que mas me llegan al alma...
this improvisation makes me think of what john te baptist said: "one is coming, more mightier then I", and the people back then who heard that must have thought the world was about to come to an end. the improvisation is perfect for the feast baptism of the lord
well............that organ sound like a theatre organ..... LOL and out of sync chords with no progression..... like setting ones hands and playing anything... the mixtures on this organ need serious work.......
@Sharkattackguy They reverted to the copy of the Cavaille-Coll progression harmonique mixtures on the Great in the last restoration in 1990-92. Although the intentions were honest, the results are not good.
I am sorry to say this after working on over 20 pipe organs in my life Cavaillé-Coll made there instruments so they would never half to be restored if they just left it alone it would of never had to have been worked on. Look and St.Sulpice it still has its original console and it will always have it. There's a quote "if its not broke don't fix it. Unfortunately they have completely destroyed the original sound of this wonderful pipe organ today it sounds like crap.
@cavailleacoll Really? I think this organ sounds beautiful! Although, I must agree that radical changes have been made to the original state of this organ. But one must agree that this organ is extremely unique. Due to these changes, this organ now has infinite capabilites, reaching blazinginly loud sounds, down to the softest flute. If it were possible, I would listen to this organ every day!
@cavailleacoll The (somewhat more faithful) restoration of St. Sulpice in the '90's would like to speak with you. The Notre Dame organ prior to the 1932 restoration would also like to speak with you. All organs, no matter how well built, need constant upkeep. They haven't always gotten constant upkeep, and a major restoration needs to take place when that happens.
Why does Mr. Lefebvre interpret the Baptism of the Lord with such "scary/evil" chord progressions? I am just trying to understand. Is this mass not supposed to be "happy"?
I absolutely love this improvisation! I feel like the world is coming to an end, especially during the opening chords of the improvisation, as well as the chords around 2:40. The blend of the stops and colors that Lefebvre introduces produces such an amazing sound. I listening to this improvisation almost everyday! Even though some people may consider this as noise, they must listen carefully to the overall effect of the notes played. Lovely improvisation!
@1994208 one has to achieve certain degree of listening art to understand and follow the chord progression on this kind of improvisation. Moreover this music perfectly fits the theme of the mass.
Hallo...plase...do you have this score free?..Plase send me it?..please do you have this piece on PDF foramt? please send me...my e- mail is: ch.bodler@azet.sk
I also wrote several emails to KTO. They never answered me. They always fade out at the end of the mass and they alsways speak through the organ music during special services. A pity! Maybe they change there awfull habit after many emails!
