American fascism is so warm and cuddly. The powers most likely to destroy the freedoms of America are the religious fundamentalists themselves. Not just the foreign born extremists, but the local born varieties as well. Note that both democracy and the idea of The Republic are both pagan concepts. In the Bible, kingship and autocracy rule, not freedom and democracy. How can there be room for dissent when the only allowed so-called "truth" has the authority of God? Can we vote on prophecy? No.

@garbledstoic I suppose a "secret combination" is any persons or groups that disagree with the LDS? How absolutely lovely it must be to hold that theocracy is in harmony with democratic ideals? How completely and absolutely misguided it truly is. Why does the human spirit rejoice in its own enslavement, and in the punishment of "outsiders?" Why try to harmonize with such "secret combinations" when such harmony only servers to validate them? This is covert fascism at its most dangerous.

@garbledstoic No a secret combination is a group that works in secret to murder and get gain. Things like the mafia or a drug cartel are a classic example. Diving deeper into it some could say the US govt is one or some other type of conspiracy theory. Skousen himself is an ultra libretarian so he was rather outspoken about it.

Dr. Skousen never ONCE in his lifetime, ever claimed to be a Prophet. He only claimed to be a pupil, follower, and disciple of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a studious learner of the Bible, Book of Mormon, and many other prophetic writings. I assure you his understanding of scripture far outweighs any which you could amass in your lifetime.

The office of Priest for a Mormon is typically available for those 16-19. The fact that this man did not advance to the next office (rank) of Elder means that he was not an active Mormon, and for this woman to indict the church for abuse caused by someone who just happens to be an inactive Mormon member just wreaks of greed.

All males in the LDS church gets to hold the priesthood at age 12 and basically every 16 year old male becomes a priest so it isn't saying much that he was a priest. Did the molester hold any real authoritative position in the church? The answer is of course not.

The FLDS may have the B of M and believe Joseph Smith was a prophet but that's about as far as it goes. They don't follow the currant LDS church leaders and haven't for about a century now. They follow their own. it's a completely differant organization. No connection at all. (continued)

True. The way I see it, that's the reason for the gospel in the church. To help the evil in people to be able to be overcomed. People are going to do bad things but it doesn't take away form the message of the gospel and therefor the people who do live the gosple is where you can see the good fruits by how it blesses their lives. The church as a whole does do a lot of good in the world so I'm sure God is pleased with that as well as the organization of it. But the individual does need work
