El Primer Templo, o Templo de Salomón, fue construido en el siglo X a. C., y destruido por los babilonios en el 586 a. C. El Segundo Templo, en tanto, fue reconstruido por Esdras y Nehemías en el año 445 adc. a la vuelta del Exilio de Babilonia, y vuelto a destruir por los romanos en el año 70 de nuestra era, durante la Gran Revuelta Judía. Wailing Wall

Early Jewish texts referred to a western wall of the Temple,[3] but there is doubt whether the texts were referring to todays Western Wall or to another wall which stood within the Temple complex. The earliest clear Jewish use of the term Western Wall as referring to the wall visible today was by the 11th-century Ahimaaz ben Paltiel. The name Wailing Wall, and descriptions such as "wailing place" appeared regularly in English literature during the 19th century.
