yep, and russia won 25 golds in 55 years, and canada won 24 in 73 years, see a difference??, also 1961-1994 canada has not won a gold medal and 20 of those 29 years russia won gold, also holding the longest wining streak of gold (9 years), and canada's biggest defeat was 11-1, by russia, i dunno mabey that record will be broken in 2010??

You fail to mention that Canada was also sending over amateur hockey players during this period. All our talent was busy dominating the NHL at the time. Also, we didn't have an olympic hockey program like the soviets did, we simply sent over whichever team won a particular tournament. Eg. The Saskatoon Wheat Kings in 1966

So essentially, Canada was able to win 24 gold medals with a bunch of farmers playing amateur hockey in small towns while the USSR won 25 with a world class hockey program, extreme training regime and government funding. What exactly was your point again?

Hard to choose a nation to support in hockey coming from australia. If canada are favourites for vancouver i'd probably support finland or any team playing against russia. Canada look rock solid, great to watch.
