I've got an omni body on a tube chassis race car running low nines. seeing them run good all together in their original form is pretty good, good deal dood.
dodge certainly wasnt trying to put much money in the turbo, were they? lol. they scoot tho, i'll give them that. i mena they dont call them the GLH for nuthin. =P
It's got 16" wheels, and 40 series tires on them. Not much point to moving up to 17. It's got a short throw shifter and and intercooler. It doesn't need water injection till the intercooler is overtaxed, it's a huge intercooler. The suspension is already custom from several other more expensive Dodge cars.
@unaclocker thats ok i think you have a real sleeper that can hit verey hard on v8`s that was may faveret game i love poket rockets my faveret was mk1 gti and i had a verey fast fiat ritmo abarth 130 tc .
265 isn't bad at all. Good job. Best of luck with it in the future. I hope to see some track times from this car and see how it runs. Looks good though. Keep up the good work.
Thanks thanks. It ran consistant MPH last year, but the ET was lacking due to traction. Next season I'll run slicks. It ran 14.056@108mph on it's best run, again, at 8psi..
That is a strange looking SRT-4 motor. Did you change things around for it to fit in there. Some strange differences. No PCV valve on the valve cover. The breather tube is in the back and the cam sensor is in the front. That turbo and wastegate aren't SRT-4 stock parts. Strange breather tube in the middle. Very interesting. But cool no doubt. Thumbs up to you sir.
It's a '99 Stratus 2.4, so it's got some minor differences, most notably the valve cover. I rotated the compressor housing on the turbo about 180 degrees so it would point forward. Doing that, I lost the original mount point for the wastegate actuator, so I bent the wastegate rod "straight" and mounted it to the hot side of the turbo. The compression is 9.6:1 instead of the normal 8.1:1 or so, hence the reason I had to use E85. It dyno'd 265whp at 8psi.
@jakayoh No, it's just a normal Stratus motor. The high octane of the E85 allows you to run boost with the high compression. Though I did find later on, that the weak non turbo rods will buckle if you try to make more than 300whp.
@jakayoh The old saying is "You're not going fast enough if you're not breaking something".. hehe, it was a nice cheap setup, I didn't shed a tear when it blew, only wished I had been datalogging during the event. ;)
@unaclocker yea i know what you mean i was thinking the same thing, it would be cool to see someone put in a caliber(300 hp) engine in a fwd dodge caravan( 96 bodystyle) to see what would happen ! lol !
That car is in good condition- I used to have one in HS. I'm curious why you didnt just go with a 2.5 on the cheap? You can get 300-400 reliably on the stock bottom end.
Because I can get 600-700 reliably on the stock 2.4. The 2.4 STARTS at 300hp, no money or time invested in it at all.
Pop the hood and show the tired old 8v motor and people go, "meh, a k-car motor. Joy".. Pop it and show an SRT4 motor and people can't pick their jaws up off the ground.
Wow, that is absolutely awesome. I grew up on turbo FWD Dodges, but I have to admit even our Dodge Omni 5 speed with the 2.2 naturally aspirated was a scary little car, it was so damn light. Now with my SRT-4, well, it is awesome.
You know the SRT-4 runs rich regardless right? I should show you my stock dyno sheet, my AF ratio was crazy, like a rich pig, Dodge did that to avoid detonation if the engine overboosts.
I can't believe you put that in an Omni, that is wild, and crazy haha
stroke a 2.4 NSRT engine or possibly put a caliber engine in there depending on how strong they prove to be... Currently I have a srt-4 that is getting a 2.6 stroker put in it as we speak :)
Um.. Didn't a Conquest come with a 2.6 stock? Was already a stroked out 2.0.. Or are you planning to stroke out a 2.4 and put that in there? That should be fun.
Very nice! I learned how to drive on a 89 Omni.

@jakayoh I have always dreamed of the Caliber's variable valve timing head / motor in a 1st gen Neon.. drool.
No intercooler on the car? Reason for that or are you way up north?

@unaclocker is it the 2.4t stratus R/T Mexican motor?
anyway. Thats nice.!

I would get an intercooler on that thing quick like. Even the smallest intercooler will drop the charge temps quite a bit.

Yeah, check my other vids. I added one about a week later.

if you want that screen to stay on while your ranking, just plug it directly into your battery with a decent fuse for protection.
