  • Needs a lot of work. It wz ok to say the most.

  • @Guitarman2k104life thanks for checking it out. Yeah, that was almost 4 years ago when I recorded that, so I've gotten much better. I've never been much for playing along with a recording as much as I am playing in a real band... But thanks for watching anyway.

  • 3:26 till 3:28 best part of the solo. great four bending man ;-) you felt it.

  • is the keely bd that goood for mayer tones? is it on all the time?

  • @dnnysrock - Yeah, the keely bd is really good. Got one a few years ago, and it's never disappointed. I don't think he (mayer) uses it all the time, but it's pretty much the perfect tone for a majority of his solos (belief, bold as love, anything with the trio). Get one. And then get a set of Klein s5 pickups - neck pick up makes the mayer tone happen every time.

  • Can someone help me out with the main riff? i have most of it down except for after the hammer-ons on the fourth and fifth frets. How does it go after that? The recording is insanely fast in that part and i cant get the right notes. All tutorials seem to be wrong.

  • veryy good!

  • your groove is pretty wack..

  • nice sound

  • I think you should work a little more on following the melody instead of shredding over the track

    =)

  • that did the trick, thank you

  • could u please tell me those 3 chords? cant seem to figure out how to play them correctly, if i got it right so far its AM F and C right? but how do u play them

  • @zimThuet you play them as bar chords at the 5th, 8th and 1st(or alternatively 13th) frets, but you form the chords by using your thumb to fret the bottom string. hope that helps.

  • its not a straight Am chord... i forget what they are exactly but ita a typical john mayer chord like the ones in gravity where the one note makes a world of difference.. i don't know my musical theory too well so i don't know exactly what the notes are but its like a Am/D or like Am add4...

    e-------

    b---3--

    g---5--

    d---5--

    a---0--

    e-------

thats the way I play it anyways... i find it sounds closest to the song... also sounds great acoustic

  • Ha, yeah... at the time I did all this by ear. That's the one thing about John,,, He's gotta make it difficult... I don't mind because it really freshens up the same old stuff...

  • killer tone on the solo man. do you just have the keeley driver and compressor on there? more importantly, what settings do you have the knobs on? thanks...nice job

  • why did it have to end ?

  • Ha, unfortunatly the camera I used had limited space on it... Check out some of my more-recent videos for better sound and video quality. The playing has improved slightly as well...

  • didnt feel it man, good and all, but your timing was off at times :S

  • very nice tone ... i can't get a tone like this with my AD30VT :'( ...

  • great !

  • why the phaser?

  • great job

  • Now thts a cover..good job man

  • lol sweet!!! i got that same fender poster!!!

  • you got the notes but just dont rush it mate

  • great amps man!

  • love the guitar man, great playing!

  • can you do a tutorial plz

  • you play so nice

  • Thank you =)

  • nice tone dude

  • you got nice punchy tone man, nice groove too. nice vid.

  • i liked it, your the first guy i see it played mostly the way john does. Thanks for that. Only thing i do different after watching you was i play the fmaj7 up the 13th fret. But well done. And what did you put in the neck pickup?

  • Hey there, thanks for the comment. I have a blue Lace Sensor in the neck position. I moved the neck pickup to the bridge position because it is wound fatter and hotter than stock... (Sounds hairbrained, but it gives you almost a fat Tele sound)

  • its Dm7-Am7-G to F in the bridge..

  • play without a pick to kill the tone.

  • i LIKE you strat, what kind is that!?

  • mexico standard

  • work on your timing its a little off. the count is 4/4 so count 1-2-3-4. just listen to the drummer.

  • Good, i'd say work on your vibrato though, it sounds a little erratic.

  • My fav part is from 3:05-3:16. I'm trying to work it out. Any hints/tips anyone?

  • Just got the Continuum tab book in, man what little I did know its nothing the way John plays it. Not even any of the ultimate-guitar tabs are at least 70% accurate.

  • Dude, where is the new stuff? I watch this video like twice a day(at least) give me something new to steal :)

  • Great song. Thank for putting it on.

Iam a user of vanderbilly . com a free site for amateur, musicans to share video slow motion note for note lessons, and tips. Just loved you to teatch this great song there for us to learn. theres about 650 complet songs done by guitarist like you and me.If you dont whant to contribute with a song just use it...

    Thank

  • nice

  • how do u get that "quack sound"?

  • wah?

  • its AdrenaLinn III i believe mayer uses two of those

  • John uses a Micro Synth by Electroharmonix for that. The name of the effect is called an envelope filter.

I can get the sound perfect using a HOG too, I think it uses the same filter as the Micro Synth, plus it doubles as a POG which is what John uses on In Repair.

  • GREAT TONE

:) keep playing i like your style

  • Excellent when it comes to covering John Mayer's style. keep workin on the improv parts tho. the tone is great, the technic is there, i jus need to feel the energy

  • what a great tone you have, and a bangin solo might i add

  • excellent job man.

  • remember when it comes to technicality, less is more.and always dont forget to have some quack with your strat there!! turn those knobs to 10 and set the thing on 4.. Sheer beauty.

  • I appreciate the tips. Don't worry, I don't take it as harsh. I'll admit, when the camera is rolling, it freaks me out so I go in to recital mode. The gear mentioned has since decreased. In the song, I actually don't use all those things, that was just my entire rig. I appreciate anyone who enjoys my vids!!! THANKS TO ALL for the nice comments!!!

  • good job.but mann, lottt of gear for the song..you could pull the sound if you just stuck with the pedals and had a single 12.. blues deluxe or so would do it.then you would get the perfect cruch gain when pushed for your solo while keeping the small end of the fender quack.nice keeley though.those rock. all-in-all i would say good but make sure you dont lose it at the end.

  • whooooaaa man!!! awesome solo!!!!!!!! keep that groove man..

  • Nice little number!!

    Very Hendrixy towards the end:P

hahaha nice flavour to the song, certainly not the original by any means, if anything more upbeat and orgasmo:D

  • love the sound, any special pickups or strat you're using?

  • thats is nicely done...i love the style...it took me a while to the slides and hammer-ons in the right places...but its sounds amazin,

  • are you using the blues driver throughout the entire song?

  • wow hey nice strummin' didnt know u played guitar very nice my friend!! beautiful song!!! u need ti cut a cd!! i would buy it! thanks for the comment on ours the best thing about it was, the pink trenchcoat kept me warm while the other two had to freeze in the rain!!LOL

  • Well, I'm 23 actually... lol Been playing for 10 years now

  • You're 15? You look about 30 mate!

  • me 15 to:p

  • Great plaing dude!!

by the way I'm 15 too, Fenders are probably the best guitars. i bought an american series strat a few months ago off my uncle, and i'm never going back :D definatly the best guitar i've ever played!!

  • You really need to invest in an envelope filter if your going to play lead on that song dude.

  • Randomly stumbled upon your video.

I love the way you play, sounds really good :))

  • No Way!!! I'm 15 yrs old and hooked on Fenders for life!

  • very great tone man !!!

I'm going to buy a fender blues deville next week

  • like it aloy. great cover.

  • wats ur setup?

  • you're a great player man! sometimes I feel like us old school fender guys are a dying breed

  • no way man im 15 and my first guitar was a fender strat and the only guitar thats ever satisfied me. fender isnt gona die with guys like john mayer around

  • Old school fenders dying out?

    pfffft

13 years old and I'm playing a 1972 tele custom and its one of the best guitars I've ever touched

  • Fender is prefered by older players. Probably because a lot of the younger kids are more into metal. But hey Im 17 and my main guitar is a Clapton Stratocaster. Works for me!

  • I play a Fender Am. Strat I'm 15.

  • i'm 16 and like SRV, Hendrix, John Mayer. 've got a hotrod deluxe and a classic 60s stratocaster. A lot of people think that the classic serie from Mexico is shit, but it is really not! it's is a really, really, really great guitar!

  • stupid kids these days just play "metal to be cool and impress girls. i hate those kinda kids,

  • either you have way too much bloddy money or its ur father's tele. there is no way an average 13yr old could afford a 72 tele.

  • that was actually a reply to another message

  • how could you even think that he's 13?

  • that was a comment several months ago in reference to someone who commented that he was 13 and had a 72 telecaster. I didn't mean the guy in this video who is clearly more than 13yrs old and is playing a Strat and has no visible Tele(s)

  • Nice playing and sweet tone. Love the blue strat behind you. Great idea with the 2x12 cab!

  • Sweet Strat!
