Depth Sounder Mounting the transducer

Cool ive got older 90's humminbird wide view with single beam trans. I like the design with metal on each side my transducer will flip up when cruising and then lower. Are the new plastic ducers any good?

if I will make it in will be good in fibre baot will the temperatur eaffect still 100% in the deep thanks an hope I listen from you .
