Any time the load is disproportionate on the knee joint, there's more stress. Furthermore, the ankles rising makes it far easier for the knees to deviate and twist. Lastly, and anecdotally this time, any time the ankles are raised to allow the knees to move further out, the more stress is placed on them, as noticed by certain lifters who have only had knee injuries using WL shoes.
While I have no problem with the exercise and don't, your statements are, I feel, wrong.
